Product : Fedora Core 4
Name : NetworkManager
Version : 0.5.1

NetworkManager is _intended_ to replace default routes, obtain IP addresses

kernels installed
by Gene C.
I notice that a development install only installs the smp kernel on a system
with multiple processors. Is this working as intended?
While this may be working as intended, I have had problems with smp kernels on
FC4 (Dell Workstation 350). This was corrected in a kernel update (but not
the kernel on the FC4 install disks). When the smp kernel was booted,
neither the keyboard or the mouse worked! With an updated kernel and the
kernel parameter usb-handoff, it worked.
If FC5 will not have both smp and up kernels installed by default, I suggest
an installation package option to have both installed.

minimal install
by Gene C.
OK, I realize that the installer's package selection is a "work in progress"
or just a "placeholder" untill the real package selector is available but ...
I thought that de-selecting everything (all package groups) would get me a
minimal install ... nope, more like a "default" install with about 2GB of
packages instead of the expected ~600MB ... I got metacity, lots of gnome,
etc. ... like I said, it looks like a default install.
Is the intent that this will be the minimal install?

Floppy Drive Icon does not appear in the computer icon
by Jeffrey D. Yuille
Hello,
I had just reinstalled Fedora Core 3 on my Dell Dimension XPS T600R
Desktop. The install went fine but when I click on the computer icon on
the desktop, I notice that the floppy drive icon does not appear. I
have the 2.6.12-381 kernel installed with Gnome. How do I correct this
situation?

NFS installs
by Gene C.
I have been attempting to do an NFS install of a local copy development. In
the past (FC4 and earlier), I just needed Fedora/base/*, Fedora/RPMS/* and
images/boot.iso. For FC5 development, this seems to have changed but I do
not seem this documented/mentioned anywhere (I searched both fedora-test and
fedora-devel mailing lists).
Besides the above, you now seem to need repodata/* and yumgroups.xml.
Furtheremore, you cannot create repodata/* with the FC4 createrepo since this
does not work (I have not tried using createrepo from development.
Can someone describe what needs to be mirrored so that I can continue to do
NFS installs?

My system is FC4 + updates-testing and I just received the
following messages during during the yum update to
selinux-policy-targeted-1.27.1-2.11:
Updating : selinux-policy-targeted ####################### [ 6/22]
sepol_genbools_array: unknown boolean disable_postfix_trans
/usr/sbin/load_policy: Warning! Unable to reset all booleans
Is this to be expected, or should there have been an update to some other
selinux package prior to or concurrent with this update? I currently have
libselinux-1.23.10-2.
