F12 updates issue heads up
by Bruno Wolff III
I haven't figured out exactly what happened but some update from the last
day or to broke booting on at least one of my machines.
The issue is that the file system type isn't being detected when getting
ready to switch the root fs.
The work around is to add the rootfstype=ext3 kernel boot parameter.
Looking over the list of suspects, I am looking at udev being the culprit
but don't have time right now to do the downgrade and reboots right this
minute.
It isn't the kernel or dracut (at least directly) as trying to boot using
older kernels and initramfs images that used to work, stopped working.
Sometime over the weekend, I should get a chance to narrow things down
assuming I can reproduce it at home.

Awesome, I'm glad that worked out for you. I've made a few minor wording
changes to the test cases. But feel free to revert if it changes things.
One suggestion I might offer is to relocate the test repository to a
subdirectory underneath your main ~/public_html. Just so you have room to
add other content without cluttering up the data used for this test.
Another thought, definitely above and beyond the original call for this
ticket, what are your thoughts on providing several packages in your
sample repo? I'm wondering if it would make sense to include several
different packages each tagged differently in your XML file. For example
...
* <packagereq type="default">kong</packagereq>
* <packagereq type="optional">wife-of-kong</packagereq>
* <packagereq type="mandatory">mother-of-kong</packagereq>
* <packagereq type="conditional" requires="wife-of-kong">daughter-of-
kong</packagereq>
Okay, I'm having fun with the names, but what do you think?

a bad thing to try. Possibly overkill, and I don't know if this might be
helpful for your repo needs, but checkout
https://fedorahosted.org/rpmfluff/ for a quick way to build packages that
meet specific criteria (name, version, release).
Thanks for your helpful info, James. WoW I've learned a lot since modifing
these cases..The [http://rhe.fedorapeople.org/ testing repo] has been set
up. I wrote the mini.xml so that this repo contains unique strategy(Repo
Test), group(Mini Repo) and package(kong-0.1.1.noarch). This package
generated by rpmfluff has been verified to install easily through system
installation.
Therefore, I updated

Digests are mailed *at*least* once per day. RH used to do it at noon
US/Eastern. The new Fedora servers do it at 6am US/Arizona.
When the content for any digest volume reaches 64k, it's mailed, no
matter how soon or how often.

Little wiki tip
by Adam Williamson
Many of you probably know this already, but just for those who
don't...I've seen it around for a while but only really started using it
consistently lately.
Any time you're writing in the Wiki and you include a reference to a
specific Fedora release, stop and think whether it would make sense for
that reference to be automatically updated when new releases come out.
If it would, don't just write in the version number or name...use the
{{FedoraVersion}} template!
It's very simple, and it's explained at:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Template:FedoraVersion/doc
you can just use {{FedoraVersion}} and get '12', or {{FedoraVersion||
next}} and get '13', or {{FedoraVersion|Long}} and get 'Fedora 12', and
so on. You can use it even within links - for instance I just set up a
page to have this:
[[QA:{{FedoraVersion|long|next}}_Install_Test_Plan]]
which gives you a link to
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Fedora_13_Install_Test_Plan .
It saves time and effort! It's cool! All the other kids are doing it! :)

Quantity of Digest Issues
by Bob Lightfoot
Dear Testing Community:
I am new to Fedora Testing so this may be a newbie or repeat
question and if so I apologize.
I was under the impression that the Test-Digest was a daily
mailing. Is any one else puzzled or concerned like I am about receiving
4 or 5 digests on some days.
If each had 12 or 20 topics I could see the need to split them up,
but the count is 4-1-4-3 for issues 62-65 all with an issue date of
2010-01-27 for example.
Sincerely,
Bob Lightfooot
P.S. - Just curious if anyone can shed light on why and when digests are
generated.

#43: Fedora Test Day - SSSD by Default

Comment (by jlaska):
Spoke with Stephen on IRC and we settled in on 2010-02-23 (Tues) for the
test day. Part of the test day will include testing the updated
authconfig ui. This means firstboot will be needed, which likely means
that the installer will need to be in good enough shape for most testers.
The 2010-02-23 date should allow use of the Alpha RC images (excluding any
release slips). Rawhide nightly live images may also be used for system
installation.
Next steps:
* jlaska will use the [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_Day:2009-04-30
F-11 SSSD test day page] as a template for the new event
* When revised authconfig UI is completed, sgallagh will work with QA to
identify new test cases
