Fedora install support for netbooks -- small screen size
by Robert Moskowitz
I am doing another FC12 install on my ASUS 701ee. This is a test
system, and I end up installing every month or so.
Of course with the small screen size, I end up pressing <cntl-N> a lot,
as I cannot see the Next button. And on some screens I just miss some
options, like getting to customize the install packages. I am always
forgetting the key combo to turn that check box on.
Is there some way to either get the ability to pan the screen around or
scroll the screen so that on Netbooks that SHOULD be a popular install
platform for Fedora, can have workable installation?

This ticket is intended to track the post-Fedora 13 addition of several
i18n test cases to the

installation test plan]. Adam, Hurry and myself discussed several
different i18n use cases to target, including:

For Fedora 13, a small change as been made to
[http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:Testcase_Anaconda_autopart_%28encrypted%...
QA:Testcase Anaconda autopart (encrypted) install] to install with a non-
English keymap using characters that don't exist on an english keymap.

Students learning BugZapping
by Vedran Miletić
Hi guys,
we teach about opensource at our university, and I would love to
demonstrate to my students how to do BugZapping. I have a couple of
questions:
1) There are about 50 of them. If I request each one to make a Fedora
account, it's going to be a lot of accounts and lots of potential
complications. What should I do? Can all of them work simultaneously
on one account?
2) I plan to focus on finding duplicates and triaging radeon-related
stuff, because it's quite easy to explain stuff there (KMS/UMS,
xf86-video-radeon/radeonhd, card generations etc.), but I don't want
to limit myself to that. Any other suggestions what to work on?
Regards,

[Q] Need help debugging a system hang while running OpenGL
by Pat Kane
I need help debugging a system hang on my Dell Intel (Core2 Quad CPU Q6600)
system with an Intel 82G33/G31. I recently upgraded from F11 to F13b
((2.6.33.2-57.fc13.i686.PAE) and now my system locks up when I play
alephone
with OpenGL rendering enabled. See bug 586623 for details:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=586623
I got netconsole working on the system and then added "drm.debug=0x6"
to the linux boot line. Here is what came out on the remote console before
the hang:
...
[drm:i915_add_request], 9274
[drm:i915_add_request], 9275
What should I do next?

My own ATI card roundup
by Tom Horsley
I didn't have time to fool with the test day for video, but I have
finally gotten around to checking out my personal collection
of ATI cards with latest fedora 13 updates, with these results:
RV410 [Radeon X700 Pro (PCIE)]
------------------------------
My main system uses an RV410 PCIE card. Lots of stuff works
fine on fedora 13 (in fact everything I actually use works
fine). If I stress the card using the mesa-demos gltestperf
test, the whole system locks up and has to be power cycled.
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=562607
This doesn't appear to have changed in f13, same thing happens
in f12.
Radeon R100 QD [Radeon 7200]
----------------------------
This is an insanely ancient card (an original ATI
All-In_Wonder). Fedora 12 was the peak of performance for this
card. It actually worked a little. With Fedora 13, all I get is
a "No Signal" message from my monitor. (Which is all I got for
several releases prior to f12 as well :-).
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=522970
RV280 [Radeon 9200] (rev 01)
----------------------------
I think I remember trying this with the live CD in f12 with
very little success. It works better in fedora 13. It can
handle KMS, it can handle turning on compiz, but it starts
going funny in the head when I push things a bit:

Strange NFS issue.
by Ed Greshko
I've a strange issue with an NFS mount on a F13-Beta.
The nfs server is a RHELv4 system. The exports contains....
/home/egreshko 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync,fsid=0,nohide)
This is mounted just fine on a F11 system whose fstab contains...
misty:/ /home/egreshko/misty nfs4 rw
On the F13 system the fstab contains....
192.168.0.55:/ /media/test nfs4 rw
Now the weirdness, on the F13 system....
[egreshko@f13 media]$ ls -l
total 12
drwx------. 170 nobody nobody 8192 Apr 25 10:22 test
[egreshko@f13 media]$ ls -n
total 12
drwx------. 170 99 99 8192 Apr 25 10:22 test
[egreshko@f13 media]$ touch test/x
[egreshko@f13 media]$ ll test/x
-rw-rw-r--. 1 nobody nobody 0 Apr 25 10:23 test/x
[egreshko@f13 media]$ ls -n test/x
-rw-rw-r--. 1 99 99 0 Apr 25 10:23 test/x
If I go to the RHELv4 system or the F11 system I see....
[egreshko@meimei misty]$ ll x
-rw-rw-r--. 1 egreshko egreshko 0 2010-04-25 10:23 x
[egreshko@meimei misty]$ ls -n x
-rw-rw-r--. 1 500 500 0 2010-04-25 10:23 x
I'm thinking it must be related to the idmapd process....
I find it strange that the log file shows....
rpc.idmapd[3376]: nss_getpwnam: name 'egreshko@localdomain' does not map
into domain 'greshko.com'
when....
[root@f13 etc]# hostname
f13.greshko.com
[root@f13 etc]# host f13.greshko.com
f13.greshko.com has address 192.168.0.196
and the idmapd.conf contains....
Domain = greshko.com
Since this works fine on F11, and I'm pretty sure it worked just fine
when testing on F12, it would seem to be something with F13....unless
I'm missing something.
