ardour-2.8.8-1.fc13 (FEDORA-2010-9431)
Multichannel Digital Audio Workstation
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
Finally, its June and Ardour 2.8.8 is finally here. Although this is
primarily a bug-fix release, some of the "bugs" fixed are so pervasive and
significant that they could almost count as new features. In particular,
automation editing has finally arrived at a place that people with experience
on other DAWs may consider actually usable. Issues with alignment of new and
existing recorded material are addressed too, and there are lots of other bug
fixes for issues small and large (including 3 or 4 crashing bugs). Anybody
using Ardour 2.8.7 or earlier should upgrade to enjoy increased stability and
better functionality. This is the last feature-adding release of the 2.8
series. The next release of Ardour will be version 3.0-alpha1 (unless notable
regressions are discovered in 2.8.8). IMPORTANT FIXES Dramatic
improvements to automation editing so that it more or less works as anyone
might expect. DOWNSIDE: for this release, the display of automation data is not
updated in realtime while in write/touch mode. This will be fixed in a future
release. Correct very strange and erratic punch recording behaviour that would
create regions on tracks that were not record enabled Fix crash when zooming
canvas repeatedly Fix handling of files larger than 2GB that could cause very
slow reload of existing sessions (speedup was from 9 minutes to 30 seconds)
Subtle but important change that may fix issues with recording not placing
material in the correct location on the timeline Correctly order signal
processing after adding a send (fixes issues with placement of recorded
material) Regions overlapped by 2 other regions will now no longer semi-
randomly fail to be audible during playback Region exports and bounces now use
region fade in and fade out curves. USEFUL FIXES Save & recall port insert
latency values JACK Latency = 256 menu option now works Importing files with
the "Sequence files" option now works Cleanup LV2 "external gui" extension
support Clear solo state when deleting a route that is soloed Notify user that
deleting a route will save the session state Ellipsize long names in the
track/bus inspector Force exported AIFF files to be big-endian Anchor the
crossfade start and end points so that they cannot be edited Correctly retain
MIDI bindings for global transport controls Do not burn 100% of a CPU's
available cycles if disconnected from JACK Put the fixed size columns (check
marks) on the left side of the mixer's track and group lists for easier access
to their functionality Fix strange behaviour when dragging region(s) towards
time zero Rationalize track selection and range selection Make selecting a
range in mouse range mode work even if there is already a time selection When
splitting N-channel regions to mono regions, each new region shows up as its
own region, not a child of the original Clearing an automation track of data no
longer generates an error when next loading the session ("Cannot reconstitute
XML history node ...") HANDY NEW FEATURES Include links in Help menu to
the tutorial and reference manuals switch from ctrl-drag to alt-drag for "drag-
selection-as-region" change automation track selection model slightly so that
auto tracks are highlighted as expected. only show range boxes when the
automation will actually get edited. clicking an automation track should show
the editor-mixer for the parent track Configurable behaviour when an N channel
track plays a region that has less than N channels (silence or replicate the
last channel). Default is silence. TRANSLATION UPDATES Spanish (Pablo

- Unicode objects now accepted as well as str objects for
interfaces expecting a string.
- Sockets were enhanced thusly:
- Threads will now yield during blocking IO.
- Socket.makefile() reimplemented
file object methods that had been missing (readlines(), sendall(),
and iteration) were implemented, makefile now just returns the same
Socket object but increments an "open" ref count. Thus a Socket
object behaves like a file object and must be closed once for each
makefile() call before it's actually closed.
- Sockets now support the iter protocol
- Add Socket.readlines(), Socket.sendall()
- The following classes were added:
AuthKeyID

Broken link on website
by James Gledhill
hey,
Not sure if this is the right place to report this or not but there is
a broken link on the BugZappers/Components and Triagers page (
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/Components_and_Triagers ).
When I clicked on the xorg-x11-drv-nouveau link in the component
information column in the @critical-path-gnome section it gave me an
error page whith the following on it:
Fedora Package Database -- Invalid PackageBuild Name
The package build you were linked to (name) does not appear in the
Package Database. If you received this error from a link on the
fedoraproject.org website, please report it.

All you'd have to do to end the Apples/Windows... and Linux(?) battle
would be to hand out guns because all the Apples/Windows users would
shoot each other on sight while the Linux users would go to a secluded
area to try to dissemble their weapon in order to figure out how to
improve it!

couchdb-0.10.2-8.fc13 (FEDORA-2010-9341)
A document database server, accessible via a RESTful JSON API
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
CouchDB has the ability to run tests during compilation with aid of bundled
library - erlang-etap. Since we don't use %check target during rpm building (I'm
working on it), then it's safe to remove bundled library and re-add it as a
system-wide package. Obviously, we can add erlang-etap to repository only
after complete removal of it from the couchdb (to avoid conflicts), so that's
why these two almost independend package submissions are bundled.

drumstick-0.3.1-2.fc13 (FEDORA-2010-9346)
C++/Qt4 wrapper around the ALSA library sequencer interface
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
This update updates KMid 2 and the Drumstick library to their respective latest
upstream releases. Changes in KMid 2.2.2 (2010-03-14): * Fixed program
termination, stopping active notes. * Fixed a crash when shuffling an empty
playlist. * Fixed creation of examples and system songs bookmarks at runtime,
for file open dialog places. Bookmarks are created only when files are found.
* Fixed saving the initial MIDI connection dialog selection. * Replaced the
initial MIDI connection dialog by a new one enabling online help access, and
better design. * The last directory used in several open/save dialogs is now
saved between sessions. * Drumstick libraries v0.3 are needed. Changes in
KMid 2.3.0 (2010-04-26): Fixes in ALSA sequencer backend: * don't set an
explicit output pool size, using the default size instead * unconditionally
reload MIDI devices before checking the available outputs. Changes in
Drumstick 0.3.0 (2010-03-09): * Split: drumstick-file and drumstick-alsa *
New class QWrk, for reading Cakewalk files * API changes:
SequencerEvent::isChannel() returns true for SND_SEQ_EVENT_NOTE, some new
methods/functions Changes in Drumstick 0.3.1 (2010-04-19): * New method
MidiClient::parseAddress() replacing the ALSA function snd_seq_parse_address()
in MidiPort::subscribeTo() and similar methods. * Fixed
MidiClient::getAvailableInputs() and getAvailableOutputs() forcing to always
retrieve the clients list. Backported fix from Drumstick SVN (2010-05-28): *

A MIDI/karaoke player for KDE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bookmarks are created only when files are found.

initial MIDI connection dialog by a new one enabling online help access, and
better design.

MidiClient::parseAddress() replacing the ALSA function snd_seq_parse_address()
in MidiPort::subscribeTo() and similar methods. * Fixed
MidiClient::getAvailableInputs() and getAvailableOutputs() forcing to always
retrieve the clients list. Backported fix from Drumstick SVN (2010-05-28): *

Update Information:
Autotalent is a real-time pitch correction plugin. You specify the notes that a
singer is allowed to hit, and Autotalent makes sure that they do. You can also
use Autotalent for more exotic effects, making your voice sound like a chiptune,
adding artificial vibrato, or messing with your formants. Autotalent can also
be used as a harmonizer that knows how to sing in the scale with you. Or, you
can use Autotalent to change the scale of a melody between major and minor or to
change the musical mode.

couchdb-0.10.2-8.fc12 (FEDORA-2010-9366)
A document database server, accessible via a RESTful JSON API
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
CouchDB has the ability to run tests during compilation with aid of bundled
library - erlang-etap. Since we don't use %check target during rpm building (I'm
working on it), then it's safe to remove bundled library and re-add it as a
system-wide package. Obviously, we can add erlang-etap to repository only
after complete removal of it from the couchdb (to avoid conflicts), so that's
why these two almost independend package submissions are bundled.

drumstick-0.3.1-2.fc12 (FEDORA-2010-9377)
C++/Qt4 wrapper around the ALSA library sequencer interface

erlang-etap-0.3.4-2.fc12 (FEDORA-2010-9366)
Erlang testing library
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
CouchDB has the ability to run tests during compilation with aid of bundled
library - erlang-etap. Since we don't use %check target during rpm building (I'm
working on it), then it's safe to remove bundled library and re-add it as a
system-wide package. Obviously, we can add erlang-etap to repository only
after complete removal of it from the couchdb (to avoid conflicts), so that's
why these two almost independend package submissions are bundled.

kmid2-2.3.0-1.fc12 (FEDORA-2010-9377)
A MIDI/karaoke player for KDE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:

A pitch correction LADSPA plugin
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
Autotalent is a real-time pitch correction plugin. You specify the notes that a
singer is allowed to hit, and Autotalent makes sure that they do. You can also
use Autotalent for more exotic effects, making your voice sound like a chiptune,
adding artificial vibrato, or messing with your formants. Autotalent can also
be used as a harmonizer that knows how to sing in the scale with you. Or, you
can use Autotalent to change the scale of a melody between major and minor or to
change the musical mode.

couchdb-0.10.2-8.fc11 (FEDORA-2010-9362)
A document database server, accessible via a RESTful JSON API
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update Information:
CouchDB has the ability to run tests during compilation with aid of bundled
library - erlang-etap. Since we don't use %check target during rpm building (I'm
working on it), then it's safe to remove bundled library and re-add it as a
system-wide package. Obviously, we can add erlang-etap to repository only
after complete removal of it from the couchdb (to avoid conflicts), so that's
why these two almost independend package submissions are bundled.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ChangeLog:
* Tue Jun 1 2010 Peter Lemenkov <lemenkov(a)gmail.com> 0.10.2-8
- Suppress unneeded message while stopping CouchDB via init-script
* Mon May 31 2010 Peter Lemenkov <lemenkov(a)gmail.com> 0.10.2-7
- Do not manually remove pid-file while stopping CouchDB
* Mon May 31 2010 Peter Lemenkov <lemenkov(a)gmail.com> 0.10.2-6
- Fix 'stop' and 'status' targets in the init-script (see rhbz #591026)
* Thu May 27 2010 Peter Lemenkov <lemenkov(a)gmail.com> 0.10.2-5
- Use system-wide erlang-etap instead of bundled copy
