I guess that this will also not work, because the mount of the root
filesystem are fail. This is either a missing initrd.img or, more
likely, a faulty initrd.img created by dracut. In my opinion Rob
should fill a bug against dracut. I don't run into this problem,
although I used at least the same two kernels which Rob sees this
error.

Some days ago I run into a similar problem [1] but this was caused by
the missing initrd.img line in the menu.lst configuration file.

Hello Niels,

I have issues to get in GUI with 2.6.2... and 2.6.12... witch I (partly) solved.

With 2.6.2 it booted until GDM should appear : black screen and monitor shutdown
after a  short wile  .

See also " Dracut or Selinux ... " thread on this forum (14-09-09).

Its already a whole story , and depending on the results of what I suggested ,
I can refer to further  "cures" .

There are indeed issues with Dracut ,but they are partly as result of
selinux-policy 3.6.31-3 . In the meantime Dan Walsh has created 3.6.31-4
but it is not yet pushed in rawhide .

Dracut couldn't create a correct ( complete ) initrd ,for several reasons ,
and so the system would not show up GDM ,and your stuck !

That's why I suggest level 3 ,and then startx because that worked ( for me ).

Also with the partly created initrd ,it went wrong ,dracut had not "promoted"
itself to be the rightful owner and the selinux context wasn't correct .

For some reason it also wanted to read /lib/modules/kernel-2.6.31-2..../modules.dep
witch isn't  there ,should be :   /lib/modules/2.6.31-2..../modules.dep

There is still a lot more ... ,install kernel 2.6.31-12 didn't work the "normal" way.
Latest updates didn't update initscripts 8.99-1 and ...

I solved al of this ,except I still have to go via level 3 & login & startx

Kernel 2.6.31-12 and initscripts 8.99-1 are doing well ,but it had & has a to do ...

Of course you can wait for updates ,but when nobody exposes the bugs ,
well ... wait .

Would still like to see the results from other installs on this ,(going via level 3)

Greetings,
