I must mention that I'm running a homebrewed kernel build with nearly the .config F38 uses (mostly driver I don't need are OFF)

happens under Fedora 38 kernels too !
3. sudo dnf remove kernel-core does not clean up the entry under /lib/modules/ for that removed kernel
