1 week schedule slip for release notes (was Guide on release notes translation?)
by Karsten Wade
We now have a small delay for translation of release notes, as the
master schedule has fallen back by one week.
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DocsProject/Schedule
The PO files are going to be available by 23:59 UTC 11 July Tuesday.
Due date for PO files to be included in the ISO is 17 July Monday 23:59
UTC.
Due date for inclusion on the Web only release of the notes is 24 July.

OK, I have now set a watch on the master FC schedule, so hopefully won't
be caught by surprise again. Ha! As if I believe that ... ;-D

Script to merge .po files
by Igor Pires Soares
Hello,
Since we from Brazilian Portuguese Translation Team had problems to
merge out of date .po files, our friend Diego Búrigo Zacarão came up
with this
script to merge them with all .pot ones. We are using this script to
check weekly the real status of our translation and to update the
language files.
We know that it happens with other languages too, so we decided to
translate it to English and make it available for all the translators.
Feel free to
modify and make it better.

List of deprecated packages
by Dimitris Glezos
Is there a list of the deprecated packages that should not be
translated? Didn't find one in the wiki, and the fedora account system
does not show deprecated packages.
If there is such a list, it should be added in the QSTG. If no, how can
we produce one to put it on the wiki?

Translation FAQ needs update; CVS commands are erroneous.
by Simos Xenitellis
Hi All,
There are some important typos in the Translation FAQ, CVS section.
Specifically, it says that
====
Q: I have a working account, How do I ceckout the files from cvs
server?
Open a terminal and issue following commands:
$ export CVS_RSH=ssh
$ export CVSROOT=:ext:@i18n.redhat.com:/usr/local/CVS
$ cvs -z9 co translate
Q: What is the CVSROOT to check out the translation files?
CVSROOT=:ext:@i18n.redhat.com:/usr/local/CVS
====
You will notice that the CVSROOT command do not specify the username.
Why is that? Well, in the HTML code of the page you will notice
CVSROOT=:ext:<your_login>@i18n.redhat.com:/usr/local/CVS
Firefox does not display the <your_login> segment as it considers it as
an unknown tag.
Therefore, the above fragment of the FAQ should look like (HTML code):
====================
<h3> Q: I have a working account, How do I checkout the files from cvs
server? </h3>
<p>
Open a terminal and issue following commands:
<pre>
$ export CVS_RSH=ssh
$ export CVSROOT=:ext:<your_login>@i18n.redhat.com:/usr/local/CVS
$ cvs -z9 co translate
</pre>
</p>
<h3> Q: What is the CVSROOT to check out the translation files? </h3>
<p>
CVSROOT=:ext:<your_login>@i18n.redhat.com:/usr/local/CVS
</p>
=====================
It's good to fix this issue as it might give pain to new translators.
Thanks for A S Alam for helping out here.

(Sorry, bad "Reply" button. :/)
I'm just a translator, the maintainers are responsible for this. :>

Translating gnome-menus entries
by Thomas Canniot
Hello,
Some entries in my French Fedora Core installation are not translated in
gnome menus.
These are the "search" entry and the "suspend" one.
I did a
grep "Search" translate/*/fr.po
but the results do not apply for this case.
Is it an upstream gnome related issue?
Thanks
