Reminder
by Paul W. Frields
I will pick up the PO files for all the release-notes pieces this
evening (about 2359 UTC), 2007-11-07, to roll a zero-day package update
for fedora-release-notes. Please remember that the following list of
Docs CVS modules are the ones from which I'm drawing materials, all from
the "F-8" branch:
* release-notes
* about-fedora
* homepage
* readme
* readme-burning-isos
* readme-live-image
There are quite a lot of translations completely or almost completely
done for Fedora 8 -- great job!

i18n.redhat.com CVS doesn't work
by Ville-Pekka Vainio
Hi,
Wasn't anaconda moved to fedoraproject.org? Probably since then I haven't been
able to check out the elvis CVS.
$ export CVS_RSH=ssh
$ export CVSROOT=:ext:vpv@i18n.redhat.com:/usr/local/CVS
cvs [server aborted]: there is no repository /usr/local/CVS/anaconda/po
Could someone take a look at what's wrong?

Thank you Tombo. I fixed this problem and committed the fixed POT and
PO. I am sure that translators who have already translated this string
should simply be able to check their previous translation and un-fuzzy
that entry.

POT/PO update for release notes
by Paul W. Frields
I just made a final update of the POT for the release-notes module. No
more changes will be made before I pick up the completed PO files on
Wednesday, November 7, at approximately 2359 UTC. At that time I will
roll everything into a zero-day fedora-release-notes RPM package update
for F-8.
We can use this thread to discuss a target date for updating the package
again for teams that want to work on updating their translation of the
Release Notes materials. A target date of December 8 seems like a good
place to start. If anyone has suggestions, the floor is yours! :-)
Also, by the way, as mentioned in a previous thread, we will no longer
be imposing any minimum limitation on translation completion for a
locale to be included in the RPM. If you have a PO file entered, its
translation output will be included in the distribution. If there are
bugs for incomplete translation, we'll simply get them assigned to the
proper teams.
Thanks to everyone who worked so hard on getting these ready -- it looks
like we'll have at least 11 languages ready on release date! You guys
never fail to astound me with how much work you can accomplish in such a
relatively short time. Congratulations to all the teams for their
efforts!

F8 Website & Translations
by Ricky Zhou
Just to update everybody involved:
F8 is coming in bit over a week now, so now is a good time to start
updating the website -- with the added complexity of managing
translations.
Right now, fp.o is "frozen" at an earlier commit, which means that we
can start updating the templates/pages to reflect F8. We should do this
as soon as possible to give translators enough time to update.
The main changes for the F8 website:
* Replace all F7 with F8, new slogan is "Reach Higher.", I think.
* Replace counter with F8 banner, get F8 screenshots for index
* New and improved get-fedora page
Once this happens (hopefully by Thursday or Friday), we should email
fedora-trans-list to kick off translations. Ideally, we'd have all
updated translations by Monday, if possible (sent to ricky(a)fp.o).
For existing translations, there should be relatively few changes - just
some HTML fixes, number-changing, and get-fedora. Also, all wiki links
are in gettext calls now, so the links can point to translated wiki
pages if they are available.
For get-fedora: At least make sure that the strings are stabilized by
Thursday or Friday- actual layout/design-wise, we'll probably have until
Monday, but the earlier, the better :)
Ricky
By the way, I won't be around for most of Thursday-Monday.
Running make in fedora-web should regenerate the POT file if necessary
and msgmerge the PO files.
