<mishti> Runa Bhattacharjee/bn-IN
<Standbye> + Peter Reuschlein/de-DE
<kasal> Stepan Kasal/C
<noriko> ok. it seems gonna be very short small tidy meeting
<noriko> and appologize same with all I have not much things to say, but one.
<noriko> 1. elvis move
<noriko> anyone can you bring up your topic to discuss ?
<noriko> ops, one more from me
<noriko> 2. Big welcome to kasal !!
<Standbye> Welcome kasal
<kasal> all: thanks, you are nice ;-)
<mishti> big package for kasal to maintain :)
<kasal> 3. Testin your patience with silly questions (branches, mostly)
<noriko> anymore?
*** ankit (i=ankit@nat/redhat-in/x-3773633e2bd13313) has joined channel #fedora-meeting
<noriko> okay, it seems easier than usual :D
<noriko> *** elvis move
<noriko> as we have no glezos today, just confirm information what we have and find what we need to clear
<noriko> http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/RFR/ElvisMove
<noriko> all I found today, (it can be wrong and may corrected later), packages listed the above are the complete list of moving.
<noriko> any more information you can add?
<Standbye> where can they be found on the fedora server?
<Standbye> when i hav ea look with viewcvs i can only see 4
<noriko> assuming still on the way.....
<Standbye> kk
<noriko> Standbye's question can got to "what we need to know/clear
<noriko> no information so far?
<noriko> what we need to know/clear then?
<noriko> o List packages live in fedoraorg and list packages stay in elvis
<Standbye> jup
<Standbye> and is there a short sumary how to use the ones that moved
<noriko> yeah, indeed. -> Standbye
<Standbye> cause i still have no clue how to use that ones ;)
<noriko> neither me.
<Standbye> ok then its not just me beeing dump
<Standbye> :)
<noriko> we are all on same boat
<Standbye> hmm there should be a short timetable so we can see when to use which server for the translations
<noriko> let's leave some fun for glezos
* kasal wonders whether specspo should/will move; he will probably mail glezos about it.
<noriko> kasal: you can send a mail via ml, so everyone can read your question adn his answer
<mishti> are the packages moving to fp.org, removed completely from elvis?
<noriko> good one to clarify!
*** alex[slx] (n=Alex|slx@unaffiliated/alex-slx) has joined channel #fedora-meeting
<kasal> noriko: ok, I will. fedora-trans-list, I suppose.
<noriko> kasal: let's include yours in the list as well!
<kasal> noriko: sorry, I'm afraid I do not understand the last line.
<noriko> ok, I will make a list "what we need to know" and post it as a part of meeting summary
*** kital has left channel #fedora-meeting because ("Konversation terminated!")
<noriko> kasal: your will also be in the list of "what we need to know" :)
<kasal> noriko: ... and the list will include my questions to glezos, so I do not have to post. OK, I understand now, thx.
<noriko> yp!
<noriko> can we move towards?
*** stickster_ is now known as stickster
<noriko> <kasal> 3. Testin your patience with silly questions (branches, mostly)
<kasal> ok, thanks. translate.fedoraproject.org/modules/anaconda shows several branches. Do you really work on several branches in practice?
<kasal> http://translate.fedoraproject.org/module/anaconda actually
<kasal> If yes, how do you do it? Via the CVS module "translate"? Like "cvs co translate; cd anaconda; cvs -r rhel5-branch"?
<noriko> kasal: I am on same boat, which means same amount of information I got. and I can be wrong to be updated.
<noriko> kasal: anaconda can not be seen in http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Infrastructure/RFR/ElvisMove
<noriko> so I belive we should still follow the status of http://elvis.redhat.com/cgi-bin/i18n-status
<noriko> eof
<kasal> At this moment, I meat to ask about the long-term practice, what you were used to to during the previous few centuries.
<kasal> So I want to put elvis-move aside now.
<kasal> The question is, are translators really used to work on several branches of a project at once?
<kasal> Or is it just in sphere of theory, and the tag "Branches" in the module descriptions has no connection with reality?
<kasal> (Sorry if my questions sound silly.)
<kasal> eoq
<noriko> kasal: all packages had/have been living in all in one repository "elvis" before feodra establish. now we are fedorian, to have
+better management with more responsible, aiming to move them to fedoraproject.org.
<noriko> kasal: nothing silly, I do exact same all the time.
<salam> kasal: most of time, branches were not very useful for translators as far last experience with Fedora
<kasal> So before elvisi move, you did "cvs co translate" and worked with the version of anaconda which appeared under translate/anaconda, right?
<salam> kasal: yes
<kasal> OK, thank. That means that I'll try to do without branches. specspo should now contain decriptions for F8. After F8 is out, the same
+branch (HEAD) will contains descriptions destined for F9.
<mishti> meeting over?
<noriko> kasal: questions are all welcomed anytime, all you know here are happy to answer you. and you will be the one to help us soon in
+another way.
<noriko> mishti, Standbye, anything you have?
* mishti has nothing
<Standbye> hmm
<noriko> we will have bigger one next time :)
<Standbye> another topic the meeting times :) im loosing overview there
* kasal could ask more questions. ;-)
<noriko> Standbye: agree
<noriko> Standbye: can you post it to ml?
<Standbye> the last time i took place we had one at 11 utc and moved it to 19 utc
<Standbye> then it was planed to 19 utc for the future
<Standbye> now its 11 utc ;)
<Standbye> im sitting all time in the irc when im online so i dont mind but its a bit confusing
<mishti> Standbye: agree
<Standbye> i´ll have a post on the ml noriko
<noriko> yea, it is painful to me too, one in late nite and another is early morning.
<noriko> either way come up, and fine no one makes me sad...
<noriko> thanks Standbye, we can respond your mail
<noriko> we really need to discuss it seriously on ml, otherwise loosing motivation
<mishti> yea...
<mishti> Standbye: we'll wait for your mail :)
<noriko> ok, unfortunate we have no answers but bunch of questions only, but this should push the things forward.
<noriko> any questions, opinions, ideas ?
<noriko> if no.......................

Self-introduction: Stepan Kasal
by Stepan Kasal
Hello,
my name is Stepan Kasal. I'm going to maintain the specspo
package, which is a collection of descriptions and summaries of all
Fedora rpm.
Though cs_CZ is my mother locale, and the prevailing one in
real-life, I use LANG=C in my computer life. But don't take me
wrong: I recongnize that the translation work is important, and that
it is invaluable for many peoples.
I'd like to understand how the translation work look like, so that I
can avoid mistakes which would unnecessarily complicate your life.
With the merged Fedora, the size of specspo is going grow by a factor
of about 3. (specspo contained only descriptions of Core pkgs
previously.) Is it still adequate to have all the descriptions in
one big domain?
A need might arise for branches. For example, Fedora 7 Updates would
publish and updated descriptions of packages, which the HEAD branch
would be heading towards F8. If that were to be handled, how should
that be done? (Module anaconda displays several branches, are they
really in use?)
See you in 30 minutes, I plan to visit the l10n irc mtg today.
Have a nice day,
Stepan Kasal

FLP mailing lists
by Dimitris Glezos
Hey all.
So in the last meeting we briefly discussed about our mailing list. The current
situation has two disadvantages:
1. There are a lot of translators that contribute but don't want to
participate in FLP discussions. They either aren't subscribed to the list or
they just don't follow discussions. However, they *would* like to (or, we would
like them to) receive announcements for important updates, like new modules, a
new website, etc.
2. Another group does want to follow discussions, but doesn't want to receive
development emails like bugzilla reports, and commit messages.
So for 1. there's an idea to create a fedora-trans-announce list, which will be
moderated and kept only for interesting announcements. *Every* translator will
be requested to be subscribed to this list.
The second one is less important/urgent, since we already have the l10n-commits
group, and bugzilla requests are not very often. Besides, if we do get an
-announce list, then its less an issue if some people leave -trans-list because
of its increased traffic, since we *will* be able to contact them for important
issues.
Any thoughts, ideas?
I currently lean in dealing with 1. (create -announce) but not 2. (don't create
-devel/-tools).

Meeting reminder ... or not
by Samuel Bizien
Hello,
A meeting is planned for tonight, at 19:00 UTC, on #fedora-meeting.
But, as Dimitris Glezos won't be there, and as there is almost no topics
set to be discussed (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Meetings ),
should we do it ?
If you want the meeting to be done tonight, please answer to this mail.
Samuel.

Error in desc.pot file
by Thomas Canniot
Hello, i'm translating desc into French. I found a mistake in English :
We use this to test our GUIs (apol have the\n
interpreter compiled within them).
It used to be :
We use this to test our GUIs (apol ans setcup have the\n
interpreter compiled within them).
As setcup was remove from the string, "them" should have been changed to
"it".
Cheers.

cvs access problem

Hi,
I subscribed to the fedora trans mailing list three days ago, and
created my fedora account as well. Since then, I haven't been able to
access the CVS repo, though my fedora accout page says I've been
sponsored, I also signed the CLA and downloaded the fedora cert. I of
course uploaded my public key at subscribe time (the key is older than
my subscription, but I generated it using ssh-keygen and use it daily
to authentify on others computers of my lan).
The error I get is :
[madcat@boiteux l10n]$cvs co translate
Permission denied (publickey,keyboard-interactive).
cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server (consult above
messages if any)
I also print my CVS environment vars :
CVSROOT=":ext:madcat@i18n.redhat.com:/usr/local/CVS" (madcat is my
fedora account name)
CVS_RSH="ssh"
Here's my public key

Translating translate.fedoraproject.org
by Dimitris Glezos
Hey all!
With the last few bugs ironed out, we should be ready to announce translate.fpo
publicly. Currently the website is translated "fully" in 4 languages:
* Polish (pl)
* Brazilian Portuguese (pt_BR)
* Spanish (es)
* Macedonian (mk)
The full stats of the module can be viewed at [1]. If any team would like to
have its language name in the announcement, please submit your translations in
the following days.
[1]: http://translate.fedoraproject.org/module/flp-website
The "translator-credits" string should contain a list of the translator names in
GNOME style. It is rendered in the first page of the website as follows:
Translated by: <translator-contents>
For polish this is as follows:
msgid "translator-credits"
msgstr "Piotr Drąg <raven(a)pmail.pl>, 2007"
Przetłumaczone przez: Piotr Drąg <raven(a)pmail.pl>, 2007

fedora-meeting time
by Domingo Becker
I've been in #fedora-meeting this morning (11:00 UTC, 8:00 Bs As).
I had a summary to give there.
11:25 UTC I received an email telling the meeting has been postponed.
2 possible solutions:
1. An email in fedora-trans-list saying it will be postponed with al
least 24 hours in advance, so we can reschedule our daily work.
2. Nominate someone to be the replacement for the person who will lead
the meeting, in case of the first one fail to be there, the meeting
will take place. For this, it will be necessary to have a summary for
every topic in the agenda at
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Meetings. This may result in a
saving of time at the meeting.
Any comments ?
