Release notes "cs"
by Adam Pribyl
As a coordinator of a czech translation I'd like to point to fact that
release notes for F10 are not translated to Czech (cs) and therefore
should not be included at http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/f10/
I do not understand how this happened, but I noticed that already during
prerelease, but I thought it is some kind of failure. The "cs" content is
just english version somehow.

Self-Introduction: Jaime Torres
by Jaime Torres
Hi all,
My name is Jaime Torres, I am a Colombian systems engineer, RH/Fedora
user and FOSS developer for the last 10 years.
I am currently based in Hong Kong working as a network infrastructure
engineer for an American company that provides global delivery
services for Internet content, streaming media and web applications.
Most of my past work has been web apps development and/or sysadmin
oriented. Python, PHP & Pearl are my programming languages of choice.
I will be joining you and the Spanish translation team as the first
step to get to know the Fedora community, understand how it works and
start contributing to it. I have already shared some thoughts about
the initial work with the ES team coordinator so I am looking forward
to start submitting.
Best,
JT

Zero-day POT for F-10 Release Notes
by Paul W. Frields
I am sending the zero-day material to the 'f10' branch of the Release
Notes for translation. The total changes from this material are five
(5) fuzzy messages and four (4) untranslated messages.
I would like to sincerely thank the entire Fedora L10n team, including
all of our local teams worldwide, for their amazing efforts during
this cycle. Thanks to your work, the Fedora 10 release notes are
going to be seen completed or nearly completed in *16* languages this
release, which I believe is an all-time high!
Thank you to all the members of FLSCo for their work, and also Noriko
Mizumoto and Ankitkumar Patel for helping us identify and resolve some
procedural problems in documentation translation. We will be working
during the early part of the Fedora 11 cycle to debug the overall
release schedules for Documentation and Translation. As a result, the
two teams will work even more harmoniously together.
Great work, everybody! I will capture the new content on Monday
afternoon to be included in publication on the Web, and packaged as an
updated F-10 RPM shortly thereafter.

CVSL10N access approval
by Noriko Mizumoto
Hi
As per FLP meeting today, I like to propose the idea of the approver
procedure. At the moment there are only handful members giving approval
and we should have more team coordinators to involve this process,
because sponsoring allows the user to commit.
In our Translation Quick Start Guide, it directs new translators to post
a short self introduction to fedora-trans-list and to the list of
his/her local team.
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/translation-quick-start-guide/en_US/sn_acco...
At least current approvers should check if he/she posted the short self
introduction in fedora-trans-list? No introduction, no approval.
Also we may be able to approach more automate way in FAS, such as;
1. The account requester selects language team to join
2. Auto approval request mail is sent to the selected language coordinator
3. The coordinator can approves/rejects
4. Only if approved, it is notified to the cvsl10n group to sponsor that
person
How you think?

Coordinator details in Language status page
by Ani Peter
In the language status page, the link given for the coordinator points
to an empty page. For example, the status page for Malayalam team [1]
has the coordinator link as [2] which is an empty page. But the details
of coordinator exists in another page [3].
Appreciate if someone could advise me how to correct this. Should I
create a page and duplicate the details in the link given in the status
page or is it better to change the link ([2]) to the one that already
exists ([3])?
I have noticed similar issue with these Indic languages: Bengali (India)
(bn_IN), Gujarati (gu), Hindi (hi), Kannada (kn), Malayalam (ml), Oriya
(or), Punjabi (pa), Tamil (ta), Telugu (te).
Thanks in advance.
Best regards
Ani Peter

Status of release notes zero-day update
by Karsten Wade
Tonight Paul closed out all the bugs that have been opened against the
release notes for Fedora 10.
We are almost ready to output a new POT file. The changes and
additions are not many. These updated notes and translations are
published on docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes for the day of the
Fedora 10 release.
There is one bug still open, waiting for confirmation of the technical
writing. Once we receive that confirmation and/or any fixes, then
close the bug report, we'll build a new POT file and submit it. That
should happen within, but no more than, the next 24 hours.
Paul or I will send further status when there is anything to update.

I don't believe this content is seen by users any longer. It was used
back in the Fedora 7/8 time frame but the Firefox package's default
behavior has made it unnecessary now. It was too late to remove it
from our package manifest when we realized we no longer needed it.
Translators shouldn't need to worry about this content.

Elections and FLSCo
by Paul W. Frields
Dimitris wrote a very informative blog post about FLSCo and what it
does:
http://dimitris.glezos.com/weblog/2008/11/19/flsco-elections-f10-coming-up/
Serving as a steering committee member requires only about 1-2 hours a
week. It's a good way to make connections throughout the Fedora Project
and make a difference for hundreds of your fellow contributors. FLSCo
has three (3) seats open this election and I encourage anyone who's got
any interest to run. If you know someone in the L10N project who you
think already has what it takes, maybe you should nominate him or her!
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/SteeringCommittee/Nominations
Over this release, FLSCo members helped solve problems with our overall
release schedule, and that of Docs and the L10N teams. They also helped
identify other issues that we can tackle together after the Fedora 10
release. It's through this extra bit of effort that Fedora can continue
to steadily improve and show the way for free software communities
everywhere. I'd like to thank all of you for your hard localization
work and again, I encourage you to look at FLSCo not as more work, but a
chance to slightly augment the work you're already doing in a way that
helps all translators everywhere, and the Fedora Project in general.

Agr. That should read "in one hour", not tomorrow.
