Fwd: Rawhide 20080328 Snapshot Released
by Dimitris Glezos
The following announcement probably interests most of L10ners. Some
modules like anaconda and initscripts are more tricky to test, so the
freshly cooked live, installable Rawhide images can help you test your
translations so far. You can boot the image with qemu, like this:
qemu -cdrom fXtestN.iso
The "thanks" go to the RelEng and QA teams who at last FUDCon listened
to our input for producing these images ~1 week before the translation
deadline.

Subject: Rawhide 20080328 Snapshot Released
To: fedora-announce-list(a)redhat.com, fedora-devel-announce(a)redhat.com
As part of our development schedule, we are releasing a snapshot of
Rawhide in iso and Live form. We are releasing these via bittorrent
only as it is a much lighter weight method to get bits out the door than
to go through our mirroring system. If you cannot use bittorrent we
apologize for the inconvenience.
http://torrent.fedoraproject.org/ has a section marked
Rawhide-20080328-Snapshot with CDs, DVD, and Live torrents. The Live
images were actually made from yesterday's rawhide as the attempt from
today's rawhide overflowed the CD size. The CDs and DVDs were made with
today's rawhide plus an updates.img inserted into them to resolve some
known issues we found in testing this morning.
Please us bugzilla to report any problems you find (after making sure
that somebody else hasn't already reported the issues). The Beta
release notes ( http://fedoraproject.org/en/f9-beta-relnotes ) still
mostly apply.
Thanks for all the testing!

Changing a relnotes beat
by Lubomir Kundrak
Hi,
I just updated Docs/Beats/Security and am not sure whether any freeze is
in effect, as I am not sure I understand the schedule completely. Is my
understanding, that the beats can be modified until 6 April 2008
correct?
Thanks,

PO checking temporarily disabled on Tx
by Dimitris Glezos
Please note that for a few days now we disabled the PO-checking
mechanism on Transifex because of some issues with the new system it's
running on.
Until we re-enable it, please make sure only valid PO files are
submitted using `msgfmt --check` before submitting. Invalid files
cause the build process to fail, and maintainers to lose valuable
brain cells.

F9 release: website
by Bart Couvreur
Just a quick FYI for everyone,
During the FDSCo-meeting today, we had a quick conversation with Ricky
Zhou, our webmaster about the website for the Fedora 9 release.
The content of the website will freeze on April 15th, which leaves us 2
weeks time to translate it and get it ready for the F9 release. This
will coincide with the final release notes push and possibly the
translation of the release announcement.
So it'll be all F9 release work around that time. Good times!

Transifex GSoC ideas
by Dimitris Glezos
Better late than never, I've put together some ideas for Google Summer
of Code projects on L10n engineering and Transifex:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SummerCoding/2008/Ideas#transifex
Feel free to forward it to anyone wanting to hack on Transifex.
If you find anything interesting, let me know. Also, if you're willing
to become a Fedora mentor, make sure you register yourself and
requested mentorship for our project.

Changing the colophon
by Paul W. Frields
Our release notes "Colophon," which lists all the people who have
contributed to the Release Notes, always accumulates names. In the
past, we've never stripped out any old names.
However, there is an important question we should resolve: How do we go
forward from here? Options include:
1. Leave all the names on the list.
a. ...because figuring out when someone's individual contributions are
gone is REALLY hard, and people should be credited for that work as long
as we think it might still be in the Release Notes or a translation
somewhere.
b. ...because people drift in and out of Fedora Project work, and
shuffling names might not be a good use of time.
2. Erase the whole list and start over each cycle.
a. ...because this is reflective of who's working hard on writing,
editing, translating, and packaging this edition.
b. ...because it's easier to track and makes for a more sane length
and meaningful content for the Colophon.
There are probably other options but they all involve some give and
take, and more work overall. These options are equally easy to
maintain, I think; we just need to discuss them publicly and then pick.
The FDSCo should probably decide on a policy in Wednesday's meeting, but
it would be good to hear what the L10N and Docs communities think.

[Bug 438318] POT file not updated!
by Red Hat Bugzilla
Please do not reply directly to this email. All additional
comments should be made in the comments box of this bug report.
Summary: POT file not updated!
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=438318
dimitris(a)glezos.com changed:
What |Removed |Added
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
CC|fedora-trans-list(a)redhat.com|
------- Additional Comments From dimitris(a)glezos.com 2008-03-25 08:45 EST -------
Removing -trans-list as this discussion probably doesn't interest it, only the
solution.
I'll try and manually merge and push the submitted stuff, so no submissions will
be lost. Proper fix can be tracked upstream as Nils said.
