Fuel Maithili Evaluation Meet
by Rajesh Ranjan
Hi,
Fuel Maithili Evaluation Meet was organized on 05-06 Feb 2009 in A. N. Sinha
Institute of Socail Studies, Patna, India. The whole program was a great
success and participants came with a evaluated Fuel Maithili list of 578
entries. For two full days, several great linguists, translators, and
native users sat together to decide a standard replacement for entries that
are coming on upto two-three level of menus of a desktop and applications
used very frequently by computer users. In the meet great linguist like Pt.
Govinda Jha, Registrar of A. N. Sinha Institute Dr. A. K. Jha, Director of
Maithili Academy, Patna Dr. Raghubeer Mochi, reknowned Maithili writer Dr.
Ramanand Jha Raman, Mr Mohan Bhardwaj, Prof. Nil Ratan, Prof. Sudhir Kumar
and several native users and translators were present.
The age range of attendees was from 90 yrs to 20 yrs. Around 25 people
participated and the eagerness of people to find better replacement for
English was great. By going through the list of words anybody can understand
that our cultural and linguistic tradition is very much rich to contain even
the computing terminological contexts.
The FUEL project is thankful to the A. N. Sinha Institute of Social Studies,
Red Hat, and Maithili Academy. The support of these organization was very
much instrumental in making this particular meet successful. We are very
much thankful to all the participants also to whose contributions helped to
come on the best solution.

Hi Norika, Keld and Kris
As far as I can tell I have not been approved for the cvsl10n group. I
have included a bit of terminal output below. Doesn't this mean I'm not
approved? I'm a bit confused...
mads@mads-laptop:~$ export CVS_RSH=/usr/bin/ssh
mads@mads-laptop:~$ export
CVSROOT=:ext:lundbymads@cvs.fedoraproject.org:/cvs/l10n
mads@mads-laptop:~$ cvs co web

RSA key fingerprint is

Are you sure you want to continue connecting (yes/no)?
yes

cvs [checkout aborted]: end of file from server (consult
above messages if any)
mads@mads-laptop:~$
Okay, my first reason for signing up was that I couldn't find any Danish
Fedora translators, and now two have appeared. That's just great! :-)
Keld, you should really step up as a maintainer, just to make it easier
for other Danes to get involved. You can always step down again later on
if you lose the spark ;-).
Thanks for all your kind words.
Mads

* Student, sociology

* I'm primarily a Ubuntu user but since there's an overlap of
applications, I find it very useful to have a Dane registered as
a Fedora contributor. Hope you see the common interest we
share :-)
* Comments, Suggestions about the L10N project: I think the
fragmentation of the translator community is a bit problematic.
In Denmark the translators are organized in a unified Danish
Translator Group, regardless of flavor of distribution. I think
it's quite a hurdle to get started as a Fedora translator, so
pleeease let me in :-D. The Danish Translator Group needs a
representative in the Fedora Translation Project.
* I've done a number of Danish Gnome translations (tracker,
brasero, nautilus-sendto, nautilus-share,
network-manager-applet, system-config-printer (Fedora)).
* What level and type of computer skills do you have? I'm a
relatively skilled Gnome User (User - not programmer!)

Sorry, I should have mentioned that.
If the updates could be done by the 17th, then we can plan the build at the
docs meeting on the 18th.

Fedora 10 Release Notes update
by John J. McDonough
Earlier today I pushed a new pot for Fedora 10 release notes. There are a
number of bug reports handled, and some fairly major flaws in a couple of
sections corrected.
We would like to issue an update to the Fedora 10 Release Notes before we
get too heavily wrapped up in the Fedora 11 release cycle, which is just
beginning to ramp up.
