<noriko> Fedora Localization Group meeting -- Agenda:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Meetings#agenda -- New Transifex, any
issue?
<noriko> Transifex is working for you? any issue to be spotlight?
<vpv> it doesn't show diffs yet, which is a know todo item, or so I've
been told
<noriko> what level of impact is it?
<vpv> if the translators are careful when editing po files, I guess not
that big, but it would help noticing things like messages you've
accidentally removed or something
<ankit> FYI, all the issues or feature requests (not Fedora specific,
only transifex specific) can be filed as ticket via
http://transifex.org/newticket
<ankit> vpv: did you get a chance to inform glezos or diego or a ticket?
<noriko> ankit: cool, vpv make sure your request is there. if not please
file a ticket.
<vpv> ankit: yes, I've talked to both glezos and diego on IRC
<couf> any reason why tx is not the standard landing page yet on
translate.fp.o?
<ankit> ah okay, then must be in their TODO list
<ankit> couf: because there is infrastructure freeze now
<ankit> and
<ankit> so, what we have planned to do is
<ankit> we are going to put the banner on the first page (home page :
translate.fedoraproject.org) , which will point to the new Tx
<-- tdiehl has quit ("Leaving")
<couf> ankit: yes, that's in place right now
<ankit> and that may take a week maximum, depending upon the
infrastructure team's freeze break request acceptance
<ankit> oh great, it was quick
<noriko> anymore Tx issue? or everyone is happy with new Tx, yes?
<MostafaDaneshvar> Tx is great, especially 'lock'.

<noriko> ankit, may have an tip?
<runa_b> ankit: would the infra freeze stop the addition of the FLP logo
to the tx landing page at the moment?
<ankit> not sure...
<tombolinux> MostafaDaneshvar: I agree
<runa_b> noriko: ankit .. hmm perhaps we could check with glezos/diego
or file a bug about it
<ankit> yep, will talk to them
<vpv> runa_b: I guess it's a low-risk change, so probably not, but the
one doing it would need to ask for a freeze break permission on the
infra-list
<ankit> thx
<ankit> but to me it looks difficult to break the freeze immediately
once again
<runa_b> vpv: ahh ok. Thanks
<runa_b> ankit: nod. in anycase.. its a cosmetic change. but probably
high impact for the look and feel.
<runa_b> it can surely wait until things settle down :)

String freeze break
by Rui Gouveia
Hi all,
Some projects are breaking the string freeze without notice to this
list. PackageKit and liveusb-creator for example.
Is this the proper procedure?
thanks

Re: Release Notes translations
by Ruediger Landmann
Diego Búrigo Zacarão wrote:
> Can someone, please, tell me why all the Release Notes translations

(CC-ing to fedora-trans-list, since other translators may be wondering
about this as well)
They haven't been deleted; the po files for the Fedora 10 Release Notes
were moved to a separate git branch as we prepare for Fedora 11. See
here:
http://git.fedorahosted.org/git/docs/release-notes.git?p=docs/release-not...
The .pot files for the Fedora 11 Release Notes have not yet been
generated, as the document is still under development. You can see a
test-build here: http://ryanlerch.fedorapeople.org/Release_Notes
Note that the Fedora 11 Release Notes are being built in Publican, so
the structure of the .po files will therefore be a little different as
well. If you have any questions about this, I'll do my best to answer them.
Cheers,
Ruediger

There are currently no resources here for Transifex-development. From our meeting, it seems like this is a minor task (a few hours of work Dimitris/Diego mentioned?), so I hope we get a champion for this. The main task here is preparing Transifex for handling multiple files, the Publican side of this task is minor and limited to parsing a single variable from the Makefile (there is code in DL to do this).

by Noriko Mizumoto
Hi
String has been frozen, assuming every team is getting more active.
Shall we quickly get together to find where we are and what is blocking
our way if any?
Please encourage your self to join the meeting from all of the team, yes
I am pointing you :-)
Which day and time is preferable?
We usually meet Tuesday 19:00 UTC, but there is nothing to stop to have
earlier sometime this week in different time if needed.

Announcing Transifex 0.5
by Dimitris Glezos
Indifex and the Transifex Community are proud to announce the newest version
of their flagship translation platform, Transifex 0.5.
Transifex is a web application written in Python using the Django web
framework that gives translators a web interface to various version control
systems. Files to be translated can be downloaded, translated files can be
uploaded directly to the source repository, and various translation statistics
can be read at a glance.
Transifex is already in use by the Fedora Project to translate its interfaces
to an audience of more than 5 million users.
What does it offer?
===================
Transifex currently supports the following Version control systems:
- Concurrent Version System
- Subversion
- Bazaar
- Mercurial
- Git
For statistics generation, Transifex supports static gettext message catalogs
and intltool-based ones, used by the vast majority of open source software
projects.
What's new in 0.5?
==================
A full list of the features offered in this release can be found in the
release notes:
http://docs.transifex.org/releases/0.5.html
This release represents a significant advance in Transifex development since
the Transifex 0.3 release in November 2008. Here’s a 40K-foot view of the
release in numbers and most important feature categories.
243 files changed, 14027 insertions(+), 319 deletions(-)
- Complete re-write of the source code on top of the Django Web framework
- New data model supporting multiple repositories per project (eg. branches
or domains of files), and project collections (eg. Fedora, GNOME, etc.)
- Calculation of a project’s translation coverage (statistics)
- Submission support of files to a variety of version control systems
- Support for serving translation files to users for easy access to them
- User registrations and authentication (including OpenID)
- Simple workflow support
What does it look like?
=======================
The Fedora Project is currently running an instance of Transifex at:
https://translate.fedoraproject.org/tx/
For some eye candy, check out the screenshots on our site, at:
http://transifex.org/screenshots
How can I get it?
=================
Project and community managers who want to deploy Transifex for their
own community can get Transifex in a variety of ways.
A tarball of Transifex 0.5 is available at:
http://transifex.org/files/
For full installation instructions, refer to the documentation section:
http://docs.transifex.org/intro/install.html
RPM packages for Fedora 9, Fedora 10, and Fedora Rawhide are or will
soon be available via yum:
yum install transifex transifex-extras
RPM packages for RHEL 5, CentOS 5, and Scientific Linux 5 will be
available in Fedora EPEL:
