I'd like to be the Cornish language maintainer
by Steven Whitehouse
Hi,
I'd like to see if I can get a project going to translate Fedora into
Cornish. There are a number of issues unique to the Cornish language
which will need to be worked out before much progress can be made, so to
start with, I'm looking for a place to start to gather a community
interested in this project and to try and find some of the answers we'll
need.
The IANA language codes for Cornish are kw, kw-kkcor, kw-uccor and
kw-ucrcor. The last three are different spelling systems, and kw is some
presumably, unspecified, spelling system. The unique (so far as I know)
aspect of Cornish is that there seems to be little agreement over the
spelling system to use. In an attempt to try and converge on a single
system various groups met and created the Standard Written Form (SWF)
which as yet has no IANA code (to my knowledge), so chasing that up will
be one of the first tasks.
The only existing Cornish translation/localisation of any form which I
can find anywhere in Fedora is in glibc. Its in kw-uccor so far as I can
tell from the spelling of the months in that file.
Now since the spelling system is rather a contentious issue, my plan was
to simply insist that translations should specify which system they are
going to use and stick to it for that complete package. So we might well
land up with multiple translations of the same package, depending on how
many people decide to contribute.
I'm well aware that my limited knowledge of Cornish will make
translation slow and difficult, however I hope that my free software
experience will help point any less technical volunteers in the right
direction. Also, I'm hoping to use the project as a way of increasing my
knowledge of Cornish.
I know a number of people who've been working on Welsh translations, so
I also hope to pick their brains for inspiration from time to time :-)
Steve.

cvsl10n sponsor for Hungarian
by Sulyok Peti
Hi,
I would like to become a sponsor of the cvsl10n group for the Hungarian
language. I have been translating Fedora since FC1, administered the hu
maillist for 2 years, and not sure whether I have ever sent a
self-introduction to this list.

Self-Introduction: Andrey Gordeev
by dreyou@gmail.com
Greetings to all!
My name is Andrey Gordeev, I'm using Fedora/RedHat/CentOS on servers
and desktop computers since FC4 (migrated from FreeBSD :-)
I believe I can help in Fedora L10n (localization) Project. My native
language is Russian, and, of course, I plan to join corresponding l10n
branch project.
Here is a short self-introduction:
I'm living in Moscow, Russia (Timezone - "Europe/Moscow", UTC/GMT +3 hours).
I'm working as system administrator (RedHat/CentOS) and program
developer (perl,php,Java, C#-mono)
I'm never worked for any OpenSource project, but, I have experience in
translation/localization OpenSource programs for local company usage.
May be, I can also help Fedora in Docs or Websites (or other ;-)
projects , it's interesting, but I'm not sure (have not much time)

String freeze break request for system-config-printer
by Tim Waugh
Hi,
I'd like to fix a translatable string in system-config-printer:
-msgid "You are not authorized to carry out therequested action."
+msgid "You are not authorized to carry out the requested action."
This string was only marked as translatable on March 10th (i.e. right
before the string freeze), and so fixing this string will not invalidate
any existing translations for it. As for translations currently in
progress I will monitor incoming translations and correct them as
necessary until the string freeze is over.
If this string is left as-is the the American English version of the
dialog shown whenever an unauthorized operation is tried through
PolicyKit will look silly.
Tim.

Self-Introduction
by Tiago Vieira
Hi translators!
I've been following some fedora's lists and getting into some projects that I believe I can help.
Fedora l10n is one of the projects that I believe I can do it, and I would be glad to be part of that.
My name is Tiago, I'm Brazilian but living in UK for few years. I've done my Bsc. in CS and I'm just to begin my
+Msc. in Soft. Engineering in Oxford. I'm also taking the RHCE test in April. I like to read code and man pages. :)
I would be grateful to be accepted within this group. I also congratulation all of you for the wonderful job you
+have been doing for the Fedora planet.
So, this is my self-introduction. Hope I can help with something in my spare times.

Cheers!

I'm lost!!!
by Rui Gouveia
Hi,
I'm sorry, but I've lost track of things...
Have we achived "string freeze" or not?
Are the l10n infrastructure team upgrading Tx? (That the reason for the
submit errors?)
This list is much to silent. Is this normal?
Can someone, please, clarify this for me (us)?
Thanks
