Summary: Can't use Russian(Cyrillic) keyboard layout to type
any data
Product: Fedora Localization
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
URL: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=579718
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: medium
Priority: low
Component: Other language
AssignedTo: dimitris(a)glezos.com
ReportedBy: 100megabit(a)mail.ru
QAContact: aalam(a)redhat.com
CC: fedora-trans-list(a)redhat.com
Classification: Fedora
Please describe the problem:
I am using Linux Fedora 10 and Remote desktop Gnome 2.24.1.
When I am connecting to my Linux remote desktop from Windows machine
using UltraVNC client(or RealVNC) it's impossible to send Cyrillic letters.
Windows uses Windows-1251 charset anf Linux UTF8.
When I switch typing into Russian layout nothing is printed.
When I switch back to English - everything works fine.
Steps to reproduce:
1.Start vino server on linux Fedora 10 (utf8)
2.Connect to server from any VNC client from Windows(UltraVNC or RealVNC).
3.Focus cursor on any place where you can type something from the keyboard.
4.Switch clients layout to RU(Cyrillic, Windows 1251)
5.You can't continue typing because nothing is send to server.
6.Switch back to English layout - everything is ok.
Actual results:
Cyrillic letters can't be sent from any windows VNC client to vino server.
Expected results:
I expected the same behaviour as I typed something in English.
Does this happen every time?
Yes, it happens everytime. So it is impossible to communicate at full strength
from Windows machine to my Linux box using vino server.
Other information:
One way to solve the problem is to use PuTTY+xming, but I prefer vino server to
be fixed.

Geert Warrink - congratulations and many thanks!
by Ruediger Landmann
Hi all,
I just wanted to say a very big, public thank you to a member of the
Localisation Project -- Geert Warrink.
The Fedora 11 Installation Guide is a massive document (250 pages in its
PDF version) and contains 3,700 strings for translation. Over the last
three weeks, Geert has single-handedly taken the Dutch translation from
around 10% complete to 100% complete!
Congratulations Geert for your amazing effort!
Cheers
Ruediger

Revert commit to system-config-printer (F10)
by Andrew Martynov
I uploaded by mistake Russian translation of system-config-printer 1-0-x (F10 release) over Norwegian Norsk.
To resolve this problem I uploaded most recent version of nn.po (taken from git) again.
If possible, could somebody revert my two commits?
Regards,
Andrew Martynov

Updated translations for gnome-packagekit in F-11 GA?
by Ville-Pekka Vainio
Hi,
As gnome-packagekit is the default graphical update tool on the GNOME
desktop, would it be possible to get a package with updated translations
to Fedora 11 GA version? There were quite a lot of changes during the
F-11 cycle, including the new update viewer, and because gpk isn't a
Fedora sub-project, it didn't go through the string and translation
freezes we have in the Fedora L10n project. It would be nice to have as
complete translations as possible in the released version of F-11.
This might also be the case for kpackagekit but I haven't taken part in
its translation so I don't know about the L10n situation there.

Re: Self-Introduction: Arnes Arnautović
by Arnes Arnautović
Hi, Noriko Mizumoto
I'm hoping this e-mail will be on the right place as a reply on my
introduction. If it doesn't, please excuse me I just got here and don't know
what I'm doing.
I want to translate to bosnian language, of course, being from Bosnia. The
problem is, I just joined recently and I'm totally confused. Where is
bosnian team, am I in it automatically and how do I get inside if I'm not? I
tried on l10n wiki pages to find a team but they don't have no information
on their "page" so I'm in dark here. I was able to get an e-mail from some
guy who, it seems, translates things on bosnian but I sent him an e-mail,
like some two days ago and still no reply. If that's bosnian team they're
pretty unorganised. I'm currently translating Users Guide to bosnian
language and I need to contact bosnian team to see are they doing the same
thing or what?!? I just want to help out here to translate something and do
my part. As for this mailing list, sorry to say this but, couldn't you make
a simple php page with entering comments? Right now my subject is Re:
Self-Introduction: Arnes Arnautović and I'm hoping here it'll come to the
right place as a reply to my introduction. So here it goes...SEND

Here's another typo:

Hope somebody sees this "much". It should be "must". Saw another one some
time ago too but can't remember... :)

Self-Introduction: Arnes Arnautović
by Arnes Arnautović
Hi,
My name is Arnes Arnautović and I live in Bosnia. I'm a student at Bihać
University - IT engineering. I had close encounters with Linux before but it
didn't end good. Three weeks ago, I installed Fedora and totally loved it. I
think open-source software is very important and because of that I decided
to try to help in any way I can, so here I am. I decided to try first with
translations and later when I get enough experience to try programming and
maybe some artwork. I'm currently learning C++, Java and in my spare time
doing some PHP. But don't be fooled, I'm just a beginner. Year ago, I also
had some runnings with Blender3D which is also free open-source software.
Did some funny stuff - animations etc. I think my biggest flaw is that I'm
interested in a lot of stuff and because of that I think I can't be
super-good at any sole subject...or good at all. :)
My suggestion to, not just l10n project, but whole project in general is to
simplify the join procedure a bit. Mostly this - join there, send your
informations here, signup there, etc. I think there a more people who would
like to contribute in some way but get lost in this digital jungle.
