Fwd: [Test-Announce] Fedora 16 Alpha to slip by one week.
by Noriko Mizumoto
As subject, the schedule has slipped by one week.
We may or may not experience some string freeze brakes, please keep your
eye on them:-)
Else, no issue reported during Fedora Readiness Meeting and all teams
are going well.
The task schedule for translation has recently been updated by Robyn
according to the request, but with some accident the mail has not hit
the list.

Today at the Go/No-Go meeting it was decided to slip the Alpha by one
week[1]. Minutes follow below.
There are numerous unresolved blocker bugs at this time[2], requiring
the creation of an RC4 once these blockers are resolved.
As a result, ALL MAJOR MILESTONES, and their dependent tasks, will be
pushed out by one week.
We will proceed with having the F16 Alpha readiness meeting tomorrow,
2011-08-11, as previously announced on the Logistics mailing list. We
will have another F16 Alpha Blocker Bug meeting this Friday.
The adjustments to the F16 schedule will be done (very late) tonight,
and published to the Schedule wiki page[3].
Thanks for your patience. We will be meeting again next Wednesday for
another Go/No-Go meeting.

I see only one option: usage of git/hg/svn branches. But software
developers in Fedora clearly don't want to use them, they seems to
prefer creating snapshots instead.
So there is nothing we can do about it right now.

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand this. Do you need a way to state
"this past release was translated in 100%"?

if the release is delayed at the Go/No-Go meeting on August 10.*
This meeting works best when we have representatives from all of the
teams, so we'll be looking for the following people to attend or send a
representative in their place.
Also note that we will be in #fedora-meeting-1, as we will otherwise
conflict with folks in #fedora-meeting.

FreeIPA and Fedora resources
by Yuri Chornoivan
Hi!
FreeIPA uses Fedora teams for translation of interface [1] and it is Fedora solution, but there is no FreeIPA item neither in "Fedora 15" (what about change the name to "Fedora Main" or something like this?) nor in "Fedora Upstream".
Can FreeIPA be added to one of the Fedora resources list?
Thanks in advance for your answers.
Best regards,
Yuri

I don't know that it's strictly a Transifex problem, but I'm replying
here to the trans@ list to see if someone can look at the Russian
translation for fedoraproject.org to address the problem.
It's caused by an error in
./data/content/using/life/chrisbredesen.html", line 59:

Tx duplicate teams removal
by Misha Shnurapet
Hi!
The docs translation period starts in two months, it would be nice for the l10n teams with duplicate language resources on Transifex to have their resources justified.
>From what requires action, the duplicate resources named as regional codes (like ru_RU or es_ES) hold our previous work. While the resources named as language identifiers (like ru or es) are out of sync or contain empty translations. It means that the project translators would lose progress if the project maintainers kill the duplicates now. The progressed modules need to be merged in the right place, where these would be available to the teams members afterwards. This is to be done by the l10n coordinators.
There's also a deadline to be set so we don't make the cleanup an endless process. August 15th, 2011, seems to be enough, in case someone's on vacation. That's 2 weeks before the docs translation period starts and about 1.5 month from now. Then we may ask the project maintainers to run a script to remove all those language resources.
If the Transifex stats [2] don't lie, the following teams are to be REMOVED:
as_IN
bg_BG
bn_IN
bs_BA
ca_ES
cz_CZ
da_DK
de_DE
el_GR
fa_IR
fi_FI
fr_FR
gu_IN
he_IL
hi_IN
hr_HR
hu_HU
id_ID
is_IS
it_IT
jp_JP
kn_IN
ko_KR
lt_LT
lv_LV
ml_IN
ms_MY
nb_NO
nl_NL
or_IN
pa_IN
pl_PL
ru_RU
sr_RS
sr_RS@latin
sk_SK
sv_SE
ta_IN
te_IN
uk_UA
vi_VN
The following team is to be LEFT INTACT:
zh_CN (as opposed to zh_TW and zh_HK)
The merging task can be accomplished by using the Transifex-client tool available in Fedora repository. You will need the language remapping capability introduced in version 0.5.2, which is currently in the testing repo. To use now, run:
su -c "yum install transifex-client --enablerepo=*testing"
or update using the testing repo:
su -c "yum update transifex-client --enablerepo=*testing"
Please give the package transifex-client-0.5.2-1.fc15.noarch [1] good karma so it would land in the stable repo soon.
The procedure has been summarized before [3], there's also a complete manual to the tool [4]. It took me less time because I only downloaded one language I wanted. For instance, to update the Virtualization Guide I did:
1. configure the tool to use the chosen resource:
a. create a folder, say, "transifex" in the home dir and cd into it
b. [misha@pc transifex] $ tx init
c. [misha@pc transifex] $ tx set --auto-remote https://www.transifex.net/projects/p/fedora-virtualization-guide/
2. pull the "ru_RU" translation modules:
a. [misha@pc transifex] $ tx pull -l ru_RU
3. use language remapping to push the modules as "ru":
a. remap the language by adding the line "lang_map = ru:ru_RU" to the main section of ~/transifex/.tx/config [5]
b. [misha@pc transifex] $ tx push --translations -l ru
4. delete the local files
You may be able to do the whole docs collection at once using
$ tx set --auto-remote https://www.transifex.net/projects/p/fedora/r/fedora-15-docs/
as soon as the corresponding ticket [6] is closed.

Fedora 16 release
by Noriko Mizumoto
Hi Transifex team
Could you kindly add the Fedora 16 Release under Fedora Project on
Transifex?
I saw some discussion going on to change the name of Fedora XX to Fedora
Main, but have not seen any conclusion. Until the decision is made, we
need to have clear path where to go and work.
Btw, personally I prefer to see the releases listed, which allows us to
check past translation statistics.
cheers
