Hello all.
In Websites, we're busily working on a complete redesign of getfedora.org for F30. We are still working on things, and strings can/will change, but I'd like to upload the strings we have so far to Zanata so translators can at least start working with what we have.
I've not used Zanata before, especially for making a new project. There's already a "web" group on it, apparently [1], that has everything from the current websites repo. Should we make another group for the new repo/site(s)? Or should we add the new one(s) to the current "web" group? I suspect once the project is created, if I'm added to it, I can work out how to upload the strings to it.
Thanks!
Rick

It seems we may be moving to weblate - perhaps this is a good bit of test material?

Brian be realistic, I think not a migration to weblate can be done before 29th so that the deadline for translations can be complied with.
Thanks!

Hello, what is this website rewrite? Is it a huge one? Will we have time to translate it for the release? To be honest, it worries me. Regarding Zanata, anyone can create a new project. But why don't you create a new component?

AFAIK the packages which are considered the most important. Pretty useful if you are starting a new language team and are overwhelmed with the full list of packages to translate.

Jean-Baptiste,
It's a complete revamp of getfedora.org so all new strings. But for now it's only getfedora, not the other sites (spins, alt, arm, etc.). I'm not sure how much time is typically needed. I know it's getting close though, which is why I wanted to push what we have so far, so translators can at least start on something.
We still have at least a few pages we're still working on, so there are strings that we don't have yet. I'm hoping we (in websites) can get everything done this week, but even so that only leaves a week for translations, so I don't know how realistic this is.

Hi,
If it is changed that much then it is certainly unrealistic.
So, nothing is usable from the previous translations?
I know, it is Fedora and when somebody says "string freeze" that means "get ready for the total breakage", but can we have much time for such "total revamps" in future?
Thanks in advance for your answers and patience.
Best regards, Yuri
Rick

+1 with Yuri's comment.
Following bex advice, I opened a ticket in Mindshare group to discuss this. Let's hope I just overreact and this could be an easy problem to solve... https://pagure.io/mindshare/issue/122
Hi all,
The new "version" has been created and lives here: https://fedora.zanata.org/iteration/view/fedora-web/getfedora.org-redesign
The old getfedora.org "version" has been set to readonly for now as per Jean-Baptiste's request.
After discussing with mindshare, the new website will be scheduled to launch two weeks from the day the translations were put in the right place -- so May 13.
Please let me know if there are any questions, or how I can help.
Rick
