undefined-non-weak-symbol_festival-lib-1.96-7.fc10.x86_64.log
There are lot of undefined-non-weak-symbol_festival
in the festival-lib-1.96-7.fc10 package (running rpmlint fastival-lib on
installed package).
Theses symbols should be added at link time and could be the reason of runtime
failures when the needed libraries aren't present at runtime. It will also
prevents the linker to preload suches libraries which will degrade performances
when loading. (since every symbol will be revolved at runtime).

+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #279251 +++
Description of problem:
The latest version of Pod::Text from CPAN is from RRA/podlators-2.2.2.tar.gz
Pod::Text no longer derives from Pod::Parser so the method 'interpolate' does
not exist. As near as I can tell, this is the only method used in cpan2rpm, so
Pod::Text can be changed to Pod::Parser in the two places it appears. This is
what I did locally and it now works for me.
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
cpan2rpm-2.028-2.fc8.1.noarch
How reproducible:
update Pod::Text via cpan.
Run cpan2rpm for some module (any will do...)
Actual results:

Metadata retrieval
Can't locate object method "interpolate" via package "Pod::Text" at

This message is a reminder that Fedora 7 is nearing the end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and
issuing updates for Fedora 7. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports
from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be
closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '7'.
Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to
fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a
later Fedora version prior to Fedora 7's end of life.
Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may
not be able to fix it before Fedora 7 is end of life. If you would still like
to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of
Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug. If you are unable to change the
version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.
Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent
Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them
obsolete. If possible, it is recommended that you try the newest available
Fedora distribution to see if your bug still exists.
Please read the Release Notes for the newest Fedora distribution to make sure
it will meet your needs:
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/
The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
--- Additional comment from fedora-triage-list(a)redhat.com on 2008-06-16
22:19:58 EDT ---
Fedora 7 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on June 13, 2008.
Fedora 7 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not
receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we
are closing this bug.
If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version
of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.
Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

The keyboard shortcut now does something. Unfortunately, it calls up the

Patch is for builtin server inside kvm and fixes problem only when you are
connecting to kvm virtual machine. I will clone this bug against kvm, this bug
tracks problem with Xvnc.

Created an attachment (id=332736)

Proposed patch to e2fsprogs.spec
Here is a copy of an email I sent to Eric on this subject.
- - - -
I would like to propose that e2fsprogs generate four subpackages for
the independent libraries that it contains. These four libraries are
used by other packages that don't need the whole of e2fsprogs-devel
(eg. krb5_workstation uses libss, qpid uses libuuid, and many programs
use libcom_err).
Our specific use case is to help with ongoing work porting libraries
to MinGW (http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/MinGW) where we would prefer
to package mingw32-libuuid for mingw32-qpidc without needing to port
the whole of e2fsprogs.
I looked at Debian's package, and would like to propose a split along
the same lines:
http://packages.debian.org/source/lenny/e2fsprogs
Despite the apparent complexity, there are only really four
subpackages. For the Fedora package we would create:
libblkid libblkid-devel
libcom_err libcom_err-devel [note 1]
libss libss-devel
libuuid libuuid-devel
There are no conflicting package names in Fedora at the moment, except
for the similarly named libss7 (a library implementing Signalling
System 7 telephone switching protocol).
I have attached a patch against Rawhide which does the above split. I
set up the dependencies so there should be no loss of functionality
for users who install just e2fsprogs or e2fsprogs-devel.
What remains is to advertize the split on fedora-devel-list and
encourage package maintainers to replace:
BuildRequires: e2fsprogs-devel
with
BuildRequires: lib<uuid|ss|blkid|com_err>-devel
where appropriate.

Hello
The issue seems to be gone with latest nouveau driver (for tested both PC's and
monitors). The "nv" driver is still having this issue though, but it's
irrelevant for me, and I feel that this bug can be closed. I'll keep it open
for now as the bug report was originally opened against "nv" and it's still the
default one in Xorg. If you think otherwise, feel free to close it.
Regards,
Dawid

Hi there, just got the same issue and got it solved by adding as in the "post
17", these lines into /etc/security/console.perms.d/50-default.perms:
"Make sure you put (0666 root) instead of (0600 root).
@the TOP :
<sound>=/dev/dsp* /dev/snd/*
@the bottom:
<console> 0666 <sound> 0666 root
It now works just as perfect.
Thanks

I got the same issue and here is how I solved it:
It was caused by setserial having saved (and restoring at boot time) the
configuration of /dev/ttyS0 when the laptop computer was in its docking
station, namely a 16650A, while the reader has a 16450 (or an emulation
thereof). Telling setserial not to touch the configuration solved the problem,
after a reboot.

A simple workaround I've found for this is disabling KMS by adding "nomodeset"
to the grub command line -- it has some negative sideeffects (no plymouth), but
it works, X holds below 30 %, no sound flickering when starting
firefox/scrolling pages/chaing tabs, the system is overall faster...

Is there any reason why this bug is _still_ not fixed? shorewall is definitely
not used by the default configuration. This silly extra "Require" is the only
reason why I have to build replacement RPMs for internal distribution of
fail2ban.
Havin g multiple firewall tools on one machine is crazy, at least as long as
these don't share identical configuration files.

FWIW: The comments in this bug regarding the "nompath" option (thank you!)
helped me work around this very issue with my Fedora 10 install yesterday
(February 9, 2009). Until I ran the install with the nompath option I could
not get Fedora to see my two 320gb SATA Maxstor drives. I tried various BIOS
settings and the nodmraid option which did not work. I even dd if=/dev/zero
of=/dev/sd[ab] when someone suggested "meta data" on the drives may be leading
Fedora install program to only suggest /dev/mapper option.

Yep, I managed to acquire a Pismo a while back, and was able to observe similar
behavior. I loaned the machine to someone else for some X-related stuff, and
forgot all about it, need to go get it back from them, and with luck, I'll have
some time soon to try to debug this...

I suppose, too, that there is some special treatment for the Uninorth v1
required. I don't think, that it's a hardware problem. The same FW hard disk
is working correctly under Mac OSX (on the same Pismo) and on my second
system (x86_64).

I have exactly the same problem with a laptop where this did NOT occur on
F7-F9. After an upgrade to F10, the computer is hardly usable.
It uses the radeon driver with AIGLX and Composite options set to "on" in
xorg.conf (disabling them doesn't take any effect, nor adding the options
mentioned in comment #15).
The smolt profile of that machine is here:

Yes, I still have the hardware and I created a second fresh Fedora 10
system on my Pismo, without any changes in the configuration etc.
So the kernel version is 2.6.27.12-170.2.5.fc10
The only thing I manually did was:
rmmod firewire_ohci
modprobe firewire_ohci debug=7
modprobe firewire_sbp2
(firewire_core is also loaded)
firewire_ohci gave the following in the kernel log during modprobe:
Feb 8 19:23:26 *** kernel: firewire_ohci: Added fw-ohci device 0002:24:0e.0,
OHCI version 1.0
Feb 8 19:23:26 *** kernel: firewire_ohci: IRQ 00010010 selfID AR_req
Feb 8 19:23:26 *** kernel: firewire_ohci: 1 selfIDs, generation 1, local node

Feb 8 19:23:26 *** kernel: firewire_core: created device fw0: GUID
003065fffe3f9f74, S400
When plugging in my external FW drive I get repeatedly from firewire_ohci:
Feb 8 19:26:04 *** kernel: firewire_ohci: IRQ 00000010 AR_req
Feb 8 19:26:04 *** kernel: firewire_ohci: IRQ 00010000 selfID

Feb 8 19:26:04 *** kernel: firewire_ohci: selfID 0: 817f8cd2, phy 1 [c-.] S400

and from firewire_core:

Feb 8 19:26:34 *** kernel: firewire_core: phy config: card 0, new root=ffc0,

The last message (changing sometimes from root=ffc0 to root=ffc1 and back) and
the firewire_ohci messages are repeated until I remove the FW device. No
message from firewire_sbp2.
Does anybody have an idea?

Actually I forgot to remove the --auto-ghci-libs from ghc-pkg update in %post
so this build will not actually fix the problem. :-(
It should be fixed already in ghc-gtk2hs-0.10.0-0.1.fc11 in rawhide though.

the problem is either no longer present in the current Fedora release, or
that there is no longer any interest in tracking the problem.

Clone Of: 206399
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #206399 +++
Description of problem:
The script /etc/init.d/messagebus hangs during bootup if the system is
configured for LDAP authentication. Disabling LDAP authentication solves the
problem.
_____________________________________________________________________
The problems described in the bug above exist in RHEL5 since 5.0.
If the server rebooting is ldap-serving itself, dbus hangs during reboots. In a
debugging session, ensuring that ldap starts before messagebus solved the
issue.
So it either needs a reordering of the boot sequence of the services (e.g. move
ldap to the front of any consuming service), or some nss_ldap magic.

Helmut, do you still have the hardware (and Fedora on it)? If so, please test
once more with the latest Fedora kernel package. There have been a few
firewire driver updates in the meantime which /perhaps/ have a positive effect.

I have a similar problem. In F10, after the last openoffice update to version
3.0.1-15.2, my ooocalc spreadsheets are taking more horizontal space than
before. It seems the horizontal spacing has changed. I can be mistaken, but I
think only the numbers are more spaced, I can't see any difference in the space
between letters. But I'm sure something has changed, because I have some
spreadsheets which were exactly as wide as my screen and now they don't fit
anymore. The font used is Arial.
I can see no noticeable difference in ooowriter documents.
Does this make sense? Is this possibly related to the bug reported by the OP?

I am seeing the same problem after upgrading a system on software RAID-1 from
Fedora 8 to 10. The Fedora 10 upgrade went fine except the boot loader upgrade
option didn't work (which I have seen on other systems before). I took the
usual route of repeating the upgrade but selecting the third option to install
a new boot loader. Now the Fedora 10 installation boots fine but when I did the
first yum update the rpm failed to install the entry in grub.conf with the
error
grubby fatal error unable to find a suitable template
I noticed that I had a grub,conf.rpmsave with...
default=0
timeout=5
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title Fedora (2.6.27.5-117.fc10.x86_64)

kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.27.5-117.fc10.x86_64 ro root=/dev/md1 nodmraid rhgb
quiet
initrd /initrd-2.6.27.5-117.fc10.x86_64.img
but that the current grub.conf has...
default=0
timeout=0
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
title Fedora (2.6.27.5-117.fc10.x86_64)

initrd /initrd-2.6.27.5-117.fc10.x86_64.img
I was able to manually add the new kernel to grub.conf using /dev/md1 for
root. I am assuming that the new use of the UUID label is screwing up attempt
to add the grub entry when the new kernel is installed. I would also note that
this
machine was originally installed with Windows RAID drivers by the vendor so
that
I have to use nodmraid to keep dmraid from getting confused by the tattooing
on the drive. Perhaps this is related and the wrong labels are being read?
Any idea on how to debug this problem further?

Not going to get fixed for F9 or F10 either for that matter, changing the

not something that can be fixed "just like that".

I've just build a new mkinitrd in rawhide (6.0.76) which streamlines the
storage device handling somewhat. This should definitely fix --rootdev LABEL= ,
if not please reopen.

Yes the plan is to include this in the next mkinitrd update for F-10 which will
be soonish.

Hi all,
I'm terrible sorry this took us so long. This is fixed in mkinitrd-6.0.76,
which will be in the next rawhide push.

This is a huge disturbance in using my Linux box. This U+0BB6 works great when
combined with U+0BC7 etc., in my Mac OSX box.
Like Padmanabhan stated here, Pango has to be fixed to make Linux be in
compliance with Unicode 4.1 and higher. Please re-open this bug.

Short intro: i've been spending most of my time the last 2 months revamping
anaconda (and mkinitrd) iscsi support.
I'm afraid the attached patch is too simple, we can have cases where we have
multiple iscsi disks we need to bring up in the initrd, using multiple
interfaces (yes really) and in that case this patch will cause us to not
configure the network interface for the second disk.

Ok,
I've been working a lot on mkinitrd lately and getting to know it better. As
such I can now say with certainty that allowing to specify root by targetname
is not something which we are going to support.
For cases where the device number may change one can already specify root by
UUID or LABEL, and that is the supported solution to handle these situations,
as this works independend of the underlying storage technique.
We are not going to add various hacks to allow other ways of specifying the
root device which are storage technique dependend.
Closing this as not a bug, since it is not a bug (but a denied RFE)

Dave (Russell),
Could you test current F10 ? If that happens, could you post full dmesg and
Xorg.0.log as uncompressed attachments ?
Thanks

Tested 2.24.1-7 on Samsung Q35 - switched mouse to left handed, and touchpad
has also switched so that tap no longer gives normal options. So this updated
has not worked for this laptop. This confirms comment #22 and a further
attempt at fixing this problem is needed.
