I started Fedora 11 Beta Live CD and installed torcs. I got these versions:
freealut.i586 0:1.1.0-8.fc11
freeglut.i586 0:2.4.0-16.fc11
openal.i586 0:0.0.9-0.17.20060204cvs.fc11
opengl-games-utils.noarch 0:0.1-8.fc11
plib.i586 0:1.8.5-2.fc11
torcs-data.noarch 0:1.3.1-1
torcs-data-cars-extra.noarch 0:1.3.1-1
torcs-data-tracks-road.noarch 0:1.3.1-1
Now in "Control Configuration" I can select controls from my wheel and assign
them to Torcs functions.
I can even drive, but with this Live CD I do not have any graphics
acceleration, so playing is impossible. But anyway the wheel works!
Please publish this for Fedora 10!!!!

Oh, and I also tried different settings in the xorg.conf that I found suggested
in misc. forum topics:
In the Device section:
Option "AccelMode" "EXA"
Option "BusType" "PCI"
In the Module section:
Disable "dri"
Disable "glx"
I tried this in different combinations, none solved the problem completely, but
crashed were less frequent with dri and glx disabled (but X used a lot of CPU
then).
BTW, between writing my last comment and now it crashed again...

Hi, I'm having the same problem, also with a Amilo A1650G. Frequent lockups all
through F10, with varying frequency. With the most recent updates it was quite
"good", i.e. "only" once or twice a day. I've also used the fglrx driver for a
time and had no lockups at all with it (but lots of other issues, so I'm back
to the ati driver).
I've now moved to F11 beta, and the lockups are very frequent now (I get max 1
or 2 hours of work, in fact it just froze while I was writing this here, so I
had to reboot and start typing again...). Firefox seems particularly bad, but
it's not the only culprit, can happen with almost anything, often when
scrolling.
This is now:
xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.2-4.fc11.x86_64
kernel-2.6.29.1-100.fc11.x86_64
I attach xorg.log.0 and dmesg from just after a crash.
