Production Version of Fedora?
by Bill Morris
Folks,
Is there a version of Fedora that can be installed on
a production web server or is it all considered beta?
Will there be stable production releases in the future?

Latest up2date no update ...
by Philip Balister
Now it downloads the packages and hangs at the start of the installing
phase. I blew away everything in /var/spool/up2date and it still does the
same thing.

ATI RADEON 9600
by Ryan J Zygar
updated Fedora Core system with the ATI Radeon 9600 and drivers from the
ATI website for XFree86 4.3 after every kernel update I run the .rpm
file from ATI's site to make sure that it is installed correctly. I have
to as the ethernet card on the ASUS A78X has the nforce2 chipset and the
onboard ethernet takes a driver from the website at nvidia.com so I do
it for both the ethernet and the ATI video card. Well since the dawn of
this machine tuxracer has never been able to work correctly as it wants
the MESA .rpm file or something as when I remove it no OpenGL program
will run. Anyone else with this problem? The reason that it will not run
as it cannot find the libraries for OpenGL. libGLU.so.1 is removed.
If I reinstall XFree86-Mesa-libGLU-4.3.0-42 then it runs slower than
anything I have ever seen.
Please help.
Thank you,
Ryan Zygar

apt vs yum vs rpm vs deb..?
by greg wm
so far i've lived my life in the sheltered world of rpm and up2date. is
there a nice writeup anywhere anyone is aware of that does justice to
apt vs apt-get vs yum vs rpm vs up2date vs alien, rpm vs deb, and the
advantates and dangers in choosing amongst, even mixing and matching
amongst them?

Kernel compilation
by Szymon Wilczyński
Hi,
I'd like to compile kernel optimized for athlon. Currently my box runs
2.4.22-1.2110.
My goal is to compile the same kernel (identical config) but optimized for
athlon.
1. There are some default configs, but are they the same as for the
precompiled kernel?
2. Is it enough to run make config, check the procesor architecture for
athlon settings and quit?
3. If so - finally how to produce initrd image?
Thanks

Upgrading Question
by Marc Payne
Hello.
Can I upgrade Fedora to new versions as they come out (using the update manager) or will I have to download complete ISO's every time?
Thanks

Since You Folks Can Hear Me . . .
by David C. Hart
Attention List Admin:
No bounces here.
I have no connection attempts from Redhat in the current maillog. The
last connect that I have is yesterday, 10/28 at 15:55. Did you folks do
anything yesterday at 4:00 PM ET?
Presumably, we are receiving the rest of our email today. Something is
wrong on RH's end. Maybe NPTL is even more broken than I thought ;-)
