3C905-TX problems
by Michael Bernstein
Hi,
I'm having problems with my first Linux installation (so expect some
naivite). The Ethernet card - a 3C905-TX on an MSI K7N2G mobo - is a real
mare!! Let me say that all works well under WinXP. The NIC is connected to
the Cable modem (ftom ntl in the UK).
I had loads of trouble getting the board to go "active" at all, but
finally managed after I turned off kudzu ("chkconfig kudzu off" and a
reboot). Now I can ping and browse, but everything goes at a snail's pace.
If I ping the BBC website I get 50% packet loss.
I've spent a LOT of time with this now so help would be greatly
appreciated.
Many thx,
Mike
PS I tried to work with the on-board nVIDIA ethernet but that wasn't
recognised, and nVIDIA don't supply a driver for core 2.4.22-1.2115

FTP Server
by Nicholas Evans
Hello,
I've heard quite a few FTPd horror stories, and I was wondering -
What is the most secure and reliable FTPd to use? The one that comes
with Fedora, or something else? I've been looking on google, but I want
some opinions. Thanks!

Hi,
I have a problem with the up2date service. If I start an update of a
package the following popup comes "Testing package set / solving RPM
inter-dependencies". After this the up2date-agent hangs!!
Does someone knows this problem?

Yum and xmms problem
by Pedro Fernandes Macedo
Today I tried to update all my FC machines and on all of them I had the
same problem:
yum update
Gathering header information file(s) from server(s)
Server: DCC Yum Repository - 1 - i386 - core
Server: DCC Yum Repository - 1 - i386 - testing
Server: DCC Yum Repository - 1 - i386 - updates
Server: Fedora Linux 1 - i386 - freshrpms
Finding updated packages
Downloading needed headers
Resolving dependencies
....identical dependency loop exceeded
package xmms-mp3 needs xmms = 1:1.2.8 (not provided)
The three first repositories are local repos I made by using rsync on
one of the official mirrors. I tried adding livna.org also , but it
didnt help either...
Right now I have these packages:
xmms-mp3-1.2.8-3.2.fr
xmms-1.2.8-3.p
xmms-skins-1.2.8-3.p
Is there a way to fix this? It looks like it's trying to install xmms
1.2.9 from the testing repository.. Is there a way to configure yum so
it doesnt tries to update xmms?

D-Link DWL-650+ and acx100 on FC1
by Dexter Ang
Can anyone confirm that the hardware "D-Link DWL-650+" works with FC1?
This is a WiFi 802.11b CardBus PCMCIA. As I've read through some page,
it works with the acx100 drivers. I understand that this kernel module
is precompiled in dag.wieers' repository. Is there a generic SRPM of
this, as I'd rather have the option of (re)compiling myself, so I
don't have to wait for the precompiled rpms when there is a new kernel
out.
Thanks

korn not working properly
by Telmo Silva
Hi,
I have a small problem. I want to see how many unread packages I have on my
mail server so I use Korn. But it doesn't seem to check my imap4 server. With
the Gnome applet it all works well.
Does anyone know what problem I have or indicate me another good mail monitor
for KDE?
Thaks,
