Update Docs
by A Davis
I have been reading posts on fedora-list for awhile now but I haven't
seen anyone mention updating their doc files. You can find that
information here: http://fedora.redhat.com/projects/docs/
Execute the following in a terminal:
export CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous@rhlinux.redhat.com:/usr/local/CVS
cvs -z3 login
cvs -z3 co fedora-docs
That will update your docs. I know alot of mine where updated when I ran
this command.

Nedit question
by Guy Bouchard
Hi.
I am new to Linux and a french speaking guy.
French character like éÉèì are working fine everywhere on FC1.
Nedit can show those character see next line:
vélo, recumbent, allongé
BUT
I can't get them from my keyboard ONLY in Nedit (got them everywhere else).
Here what i got in Nedit when i try to type french character:
éè
Is it possible to correct this?
I like Nedit because i can save my html files in DOS format. I can share
them easily between my machine and wife's windows machine.
Thanks!

Bug?/questions about spamassassin
by Gilbert Sebenste
Hello all,
When I run the newest version of spamassassin (2.6.3-0.2) from the init.d
directory as user root, it hangs when I use "-u mailnull" as the options.
Or any other user (mail, etc), for that matter. Typing ./spamassassin
start with just the option above shows:
starting spamd:
And then it hangs.
Using the defaults with the software (-d -c -a -m5 -H) works fine, except
my incoming spam is labeled as [SPAM] in Pine. Is there any way, from the
spamassassin option command line above, to add an option to automatically
delete those incoming emails when they are detected to be spam? I'm sure
there is, but in my half-awake state and 2 hours on the spamassassin web
site, I'm not clear how to do it.
Thanks, as always, for any help!

Re: Giving up on Linux ... NO WAY
by Doug Lane
I am NOT a computer expert. I tried RH8 and it recognized everything on
a computer that was several years older. I said, "Why not on a laptop"
I threw it on a laptop and bang it runs perfectly. I really am not any
good with computers, and I was surprised that I was having no problems.
My confidence was gaining and I tried a new computer with RH9. Bang -
perfect! I tried downloading and installing Mplayer - no luck. Tried
Xine. No problem! I had tried swapping an NVidia card with an old
generic SIS - not much luck with Redhat. I had purchased SuSE 8.2
because I heard it was good. Nvidia card recognized without any
problem. Went back to RH9 because it was more stable than SuSE,
installing ATI instead. Tried Ximian, worked great. Downloaded
Fedora. I love it. Put Suse 9 on my wife's machine, in the process
wiping out a legal copy of Windows XP before backing up. (Did you know
you don't get discs anymore?!) She is using it quite easily.
Moral of the story? A newbie as lame as myself did quite well with
Linux of various flavors on various levels of hardware; even though I
realize i had setbacks, I figured out alternates and other ways around;
and, finally I realized that Linux is worth the work, and is accessible
to everyone.
I can't understand that someone who boasts that they know alot about
computers could say that they had trouble with linux.
