my Hardware list - ems
by ems
Thanks for all the assistance regarding my hardware compatibility relative to
Fedora.
As I have been asked to drop in my hardware list, I thought I might as well do
so. I suppose at a glance it can be estimated that that 99% of it is OK.

Re: Re:How I am sharing kppp among mortal users
by Parameshwara Bhat
Dear Jeff,
Problem is not of permission.I have setup /usr/sbin/kppp as suid and
ownership to dialout group comprising dialling users and root.Problem lien
in the linking of /usr/bin/kppp to consolehelper which in turn would start
/usr/sbin/kppp.Consolehelper is governed by authentication rules and
nobody seems to know it fully here.
Presentlu I have relinked /usr/bin/kppp to /usr/sbin/kppp and duplicated
one and same setting for each user. But here I will miss consolidated
connection log which I would get If I could share one connection among
users.
Thank you and all who participated to help me.

R.e. Fedora Shop
by Gareth Russell
I shouldn't think so. There's not even much official artwork as of yet,
so I can't see a Fedora Shop happening any time soon.

kppp: pppd timed out (not starting)
by Jose Aristides Tamayo
Hello,
I use fedora here at work and I recently installed it at home, and since
I don't have a broadband connection, I had to use my winmodem, which was
configured perfectly, the problem comes when I have to connect with kppp
(also tried wvdial) and both said that they were timed out expecting
pppd to come up. pppd said something about not being able to start
because some protocol was not active (ip maybe?), then I just configured
an ip address on my network card (which is not connected anywhere) and
tried again connecting via dial up, which worked fine.
Now, is there anyway of doing this without configuring the eth0
interface and just start pppd normally?
Thanks,
Jose Aristides Tamayo

No Signal from Laptop Dock Station to Monitor via DVI
by Keven Ring
I have a Dock Station at work that has both VGA and DVI outputs. With
the VGA output, I can get a signal to my external flat-panel display.
However, the monitor indicates that there is no signal via the DVI
connection.
The cable and connection are fine, as it works in XP. ;(
Any thoughts on what might need to be done to resolve this for Linux?
My guess would be a kernel module to tweak the dock station settings.
Anyone know of a project that is working on this?
BTW, FC1, 2.4.2174 kernel on a Dell D600.
Thanks!
