Moving to cyrus mail from FC1 -> FC2
by Rajko Albrecht
hi,
as seen there is not the old imapd in FC2, and it did install the cyrus-imap.
Ok, but, when I login I can not see any directory formerly created, INBOX is
missing, too.
And in documentation of cyrus I didn't find anything about that, I thought it
should run out of the box.
So: can someone give a hint, how I convert all /home/<user>/mail to cyrus,
which way I must go, that cyrus will display the INBOX for that user, and
them don't get a "permission denied" when try to create a folder?
Meanwhile I use dovecot, but there are some other problems, too. (filter via
procmail, in cyrus I would make it via sieve and so on)
Thanks

Dell Latitude D600 touchpad problem
by mikko nuotio
I have Dell Latitude D600, 512MB/1.4 GHz/ATI Radeon 9000/Alps GlidePoint
(might be only sold in EU). The problem is I _really_ dislike Alps
GlidePoint (dual, pad and stick) tapping feature.
I am using Fedora core 1 (yarrow) with default Xfree86 shipped with it,
and kernel 2.4.22-2135
I want to disable tapping from both stick and pad (or disable the pad)
I have tried almost every possible way to disable it(I have read most of
tuxmobile stuff for D600).
tpconfig - I disable gpm, boot to runlevel 3 run manually "tpconfig
--tapmode=0" it says ALPS tapping OFF, but when I start X tapping is
still there, even using any existing mouse driver (PS/2, Alps).
Does "tpconfig --tapmode=0" only affect on stick ?
I also try synaptics touchpad driver for xfree86 (I had to compile it).
but xfree will crash if driver not even loaded, only copied to
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/input (not 100% sure) at least it will crash is
it is loaded.
So I read more documentation and found out that when using synaptics
driver with Alps glidepoint I should have 2.6 kernel to get events from
this device.
So is there any way disable Alps tapping with current kernel
(2.4.22-2135)?

Fedora Core 2 & VNC?
by Denny Lee
Since Fedora Core 2 does not include XFree86, are there any suggested
VNC apps that will allow me to remotely connect from my WinXP box to my
Fedora box? Or should I stick to installing XFree86 and Tight VNC?
Thanks!

ATI All In Wonder --- Has anyone gotten TV capture to work?
by FearOfCarpet
I was wondering if anyone has gotten an ATI All in Wonder RADEON's TV
capabilities working in Fedora? There is a lot of information on the net
about this, but I haven't seen much for the RedHat distros. Apparently I
had it working in Debian, but KDE broke before I could really use it and
I ended up wiping Debian and installing Fefora on that machine. I'm
really only after being able to watch live TV off the S-Video input...
Any info would be appreciated- TIA

"Starting mdmpd: failed"
by Ted Gervais
When I bring up FC2, I see "Starting mdmpd: ....failed".
What is that all about and how can I get that error out of there.
Everything else is so perfect, I just hate to see that 'failure'...

Can't get ipsec working in Fedora Core 2
by Matt Harrell
Help!
Until last night, I was running Fedora Core 1 with FreeSWAN. I was
using FreeSWAN to connect to my place of work, and two different
customer sites via IKE IPsec tunnels. It was working great.
Since upgrading to Fedora Core 2, I cannot get FreeSWAN to work. So I
decided to try the ipsec implementation included with the 2.6 kernel. I
am having no luck. Is there any documentation for this anywhere? I'm
referring specifically to the RedHat/Fedora implementation. I'm trying
to make use of it (including the GUI set tool under System Settings -->
Network --> IPsec).
Sometimes racoon doesn't even respond to pings from my Windows XP PC
behind my Linux firewall. When it does, it fails to connect. Racoon
logs a "hash mismatch". The Sidewinder G2 firewall on the work end logs
a similar message about the configuration not matching. I've noticed
that racoon keeps trying aggressive mode. I don't know why. I've
manually edited racoon.conf (and the individual .conf files for the
other end) to eliminate aggressive mode (just leaving main mode).
Also, when setting up an IPsec tunnel using the GUI Network tool, it
asks for "Local network address". According to the documentation I
found for RedHat Enterprise Linux, this should be the internal interface
for the Linux firewall. However, I don't think this is right. I think
this should actually be the subnet address, correct? In the Remote
Network screen, it asks for both "Remote IP address" and "Remote network
gateway". Aren't these the same thing? There's a separate field for
"Remote network address", so it would seem that "Remote IP address" and
"Remote network gateway" should both be the external interface IP
address of the remote firewall.
I have noticed two error messages that seem particularly troubling to
me. First, when racoon first starts, it complains with
ERROR: isakmp.c:1378:isakmp_open(): failed to bind to address [address
of NIC] (no such device)
for both NICs.
Also, if I try to activate a configured tunnel with "ifup [tunnel
name]", it replies with "RTNETLINK answers: Network is unreachable". What?
If there is some good documentation for this ipsec system, please point
me to it! Any other help would be greatly appreciated--I need this
connection up so that I can work from home!

[FC2] How do I suspend?
by Norman Gaywood
I have acpid running. I can see that hitting the suspend button on my
laptop triggers an event:
[Fri May 21 13:34:44 2004] received event "button/sleep SBTN 00000080 00000001"
[Fri May 21 13:34:44 2004] notifying client 2149[501:501]
[Fri May 21 13:34:44 2004] completed event "button/sleep SBTN 00000080 00000001"
[Fri May 21 13:34:44 2004] received event "button/sleep SBTN 00000080 00000002"
[Fri May 21 13:34:44 2004] notifying client 2149[501:501]
[Fri May 21 13:34:44 2004] completed event "button/sleep SBTN 00000080 00000002"
I can also see I need to put something in /etc/acpi/events/ to tell the
system to suspend on the event.
What command should I use to suspend?
"usr/bin/apm -s" can no logger be used because:
kernel: apm: overridden by ACPI.

Mozilla 1.7

Anyone have this available anywhere? I seem to recall someone had it
built into rpm during the testing phase but forgot and can't seem to
find it in the archives.

Flash + Mozilla and black 1px border?
by Vibol Hou
I asked this on the fedora-test list a while back and got minimal response;
hoping more people on fedora-list can provide feedback. Has anyone noticed
that all Flash animations (using MM Flash) under Mozilla has small 1px black
border around them? Go to Macromedia.com and you'll (hopefully) see what
I'm talking about in their header area. Other sites with Flash animation
exhibit the same thing. Is there a setting somewhere to remove this black
border (appears on top and left sides for me).
I tried downloading Opera and it came preinstalled with some version of the
Flash viewer that did not exhibit this 1-px border display problem.

GL Kills my box?
by Adam Cooper
I have been trying to get an opengl game (vegastrike) to run on my
system. However whilst i've been trying to get this to work i seem to
have lost all opengl capabilities. When running any opengl app the
computer immediately freezes with no output to screen. Being a relative
newb i have no idea how to exit said freeze (ctrl alt F* doesn't get me
anywhere) and so i have to restart. GLXGears as well as tux racer freeze
as well. How can I fix this problem? Are there any logs that may be of
use?
I'm running Kernel 2.6 on a P4 2.6 512MB
Thanks for any help.
