mounted multiple times
by Jack Tanner
On an FC4 client, I'm mounting an smbfs filesystem over the network. In
/etc/fstab, I have
//server/share /mount/point smbfs
credentials=/home/user/.smbcreds,noauto,user 0 0
The user's .bash_profile contains the actual mount command, which goes off
without a hitch. Consequently, the user can issue
$ umount /mount/point
when necessary.
It's all well and good, until the user connects to the FC4 client twice, and
runs two xterms which both source .bash_profile.
Now the mount command has been issued twice, so here's what happens:
$ umount /mount/point
umount: it seems /mount/point is mounted multiple times
Well, yes, it has been mounted multiple times; but how can the user unmount
it now?

Re: Wireless driver for FC4 64 bit - Broadcom 802.11g
by Mark Symmes
Patrick,
I just followed your advice. Thanks.
But I am running the 64 bit kernel for FC4 and the ndiswrapper will not
install the Broadcom 32 bit windows driver.
It says it is installed and working but dmesg shows it did not install.
Is there a 64 bit windows driver. The Acer Ferrari 3200 uses the Broadcom
4306 which I think is different
than what is in your new Ferrari 4000.

Hi all,
I would like to get a telnet server running on my machine. I already
have SSh, I have installed telnet-server, and started xinetd. What else
do I have to do?

NFS problem
by Eric TANGUY
I have a fc3 server and fc4 clients. Each client mount 2 nfs directory at
bootup :
192.168.10.10:/home /home nfs exec,dev,suid,rw 1 1
192.168.10.10:/usr/local /usr/local nfs
exec,dev,suid,ro 1 1
Since today /home is not mounted at boot (but /usr/local is mounted) but
this seems to be randomly.
The problem is : i can't find where can i see the problem. I found no log
dedicated to nfs on the server and no log about nfs on the clients.
Thanks

RE: SSh, Apache implementation

Oops, the mount would be done on titanic and should read:
mount -t nfs databse:/home/documents /var/www/html/databse
Some days I cannot paste correctly. Sorry.
The existing empty directory
named /var/www/html/database on titanic will be overlaid by the
mount point. /var/www/html is the default place the Linux apache
looks for documents to server. If you have changed this in the
configuration script (or utility) then put the mount in the appropriate
place. Thus:
http://titanic/database/some_file.html will reference the file in
/home/docuements on databse.
When you get this working to your satisfaction using a manual mount
command, you may want to update /etc/fstab to do the mount at boot
time. This can cause complications however if titanic gets booted
when databse is off. Another approach is to use the automounter
to do the mount.

[OT] Route Planner
by Andy Pieters
Hi List
Sorry 'bout the OT question.
I looked at several routplanners with the help of google, but I haven't seen
one that has the option I need.
Basically I want to make a trip from south france to north france without
using highways, since the vehicles we'll be using are not allowed on the
highway.
Anyone has any suggestions?
Thanks a lot
Andy

SSH weird errors
by Andy Pieters
Hi list
I have a headless server running Fedora Core 4 with ssh versions:
[andy@lucky ~]$ rpm -qa | grep ssh
openssh-4.0p1-2
openssh-clients-4.0p1-2
openssh-server-4.0p1-2
Whenever I log in, I notice this in logwatch:
error: buffer_get_ret: trying to get more bytes 129 than in buffer 34
error: buffer_get_string_ret: buffer_get failed
error: buffer_get_bignum2_ret: invalid bignum
error: key_from_blob: can't read rsa key
error: key_read: key_from_blob
Curiusly, ssh works without a glitch AND I'm using private keys to connect to
the server.
Anybody got any ideas?
With kind regards
Andy

You have no default gateway set. If your gateway (router) IP address is
192.168.1.254 then run the following command:
route add default gw 192.168.1.254 eth0
If that works add the following line to /etc/sysconfig/network:
GATEWAY=192.168.1.254
where 192.168.1.254 is your gateway address.
