xen problem
by bill zhu
Hi, Everyone,
I got a complex error on redhat 5 virtulation:
When I try to create new domain, the domain always go to paused
automatically. And if I unpaused it, it will crash. Seems like there is one
dying domain existing there. I don't know how to kill this dying domain
completely. If you have any idea about it?
Already did:
Xend restart
Clean the /var/lib/xen/ initd.* vmlinuz*
Still have that dying domain

Question on encrypted usbkey and CD in F9?
by mike cloaked
Has anybody recently made/used an encrypted CD or usbkey in F9?
If so a couple of questions...
1) Is there a howto on the web that gives the steps to creating and
reading an encrypted CD in F9?
2) I seem to remember roughly how to make an encrypted USBkey but
is there a way to be able to plug in an encrypted usbkey and have it open
in the desktop using a stored passphrase in an automatic way?

vim syntax highlight F9
by Marcelo Garcia
Hi
How to enable syntax highlighting in vim? I tried to put "syntax on" on
/etc/vimrc and on my "~/.vimrc" and does not work. I have the following
vim packages installed:
[root@newt set_new_machine]# yum list installed vim*
Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit
Installed Packages
vim-common.i386 2:7.1.291-1.fc9
installed
vim-enhanced.i386 2:7.1.291-1.fc9
installed
vim-minimal.i386 2:7.1.291-1.fc9
installed
Does anyone know how to solve this?
Thanks

by Vassilios Kotoulas
hi,
after upgrading from f7 to f9 I cant automount my usb disk. I use gnome,
hal is running and when I switch the disk on I see the usual syslog
entries. I can also see the drive with fdisk -l. I configurated the
authorizations to my user is allowed to mount drives. I can mount the
drive as root from command line. selinux is set to permissive. what did
I forget?

install woes
by whoosh
first I downloaded the Fedora Core 9 64 DVD iso, took many hours,
but on attempting to install, it freezes up at the test media screen.
I then downloaded all the FC9 64 CD isos, tried the first one and
it freezes up at the test media screen.
I tried submitting a report on the University of Kent form, but that
failed!
I then tried the FC9 64 net install CD and it freezes up on the
choose language screen.
The PC is an AMD Sempron 64 tower, from probably 2006. I thought
maybe there are bugs in the early AMD64 CPUs.
so I tried the FC9 32 net install iso, freezes up on the "Choose a language"
screen. That suggests it isnt a 64 bit bug.
I tried Ubuntu 64, 8.04.1 that freezes up once the desktop appears.
when I say freeze up I mean no response to keyboard (or mouse for Ubuntu).
I installed FC3 some years ago without problem, and I use FC3 and Windows XP
all the time without problem.
I decided to look at FC8 instead, unfortunately there dont appear to be
CD's, I dont want to spend 5 hours downloading the DVD and find the same
freeze up problem.

Actually, I had this working perfectly before I reformatted my system using the Firefox that I downloaded from Mozilla's website, I just couldn't remember how I resolved the dependencies through yum to get the i386 libraries that I needed. Plus I like running the Mozilla original Firefox instead of the Fedora rolled Firefox, at least I feel I have a little more control of the settings and what not. I also don't mind doing some manual dependency hunting, it reminds me of the old days...[as sadistic as that sounds].
heh...$DEITY...that never gets old. :^)
