httpd with symbolic links and selinux enabled
by Justin Jereza
Hello.
I'm having trouble accessing symbolic links in userdirs through httpd
with selinux enabled on Fedora 12.
The following duplicates my situation:
* Enable userdirs in /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
# setsebool -P httpd_enable_homedirs on
# setsebool -P httpd_read_user_content on
~$ mkdir -p public_html foo/bar
~$ cd public_html
~/public_html$ ln -s ../foo
~/public_html$ cd ../foo/bar
~/foo/bar$ echo "<h1>Test</h1>" > baz.html
~/foo/bar$ ln -s baz.html index.html
http://localhost/~user/foo/ is accessible,
http://localhost/~user/foo/bar/ is not. How can I make this work?
Thanks.

Thanks for lights.

Problem with using wireless usb adapter
by Brian Wood
I'm having some trouble getting internet/ssh working over
a Linksys wireless usb adapter -- model WUSB54GSC.
I did get it working one time, but don't know why or if
I did something to make it work. I see the access
point I want to use and connect to it. That seems to work.
Then iwconfig reports
lo no wireless extensions.
eth0 no wireless extensions.
wlan2 IEEE 802.11bg ESSID:"brian"
Mode:Managed Frequency:2.432 GHz Access Point: 00:1C:10:3B:06:97
Bit Rate=36 Mb/s Tx-Power=14 dBm
RTS thr=2347 B Fragment thr=2346 B
Link Quality=57/100 Signal level=57/100
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
But bringing up a URL or ssh'ing to another machine doesn't work.
I'm using Fedora 12. If I use an ethernet cable instead of the
wireless, everything works fine. Any ideas on what to check
or do?
Also in a separate matter ...
With F11 the screen saver would gradually (fade in), but with F12 it
happens suddenly. I would like to have it fade in gradually again
on F12. I've looked at the screen saver preferences but didn't
see a way to control that. How can I make it behave the way I
want? TIA

disable reboot/shutdown for xfce user
by Herbert Gasiorowski
I am not able to stop xfce-session to allow reboot or shutdown at logout!
It works with F11 - probably using the PolicyKit like with Gnome and kde.
(I do not understand that each and every program has to be configured
seperately to disable it ...)

FC12 Clean Install - No Sound
by Tim and Alison Bentley
I have had to do a clean install of FC12.
Whilst most things are working fine I have no sound at all. I had sound on
F11 but with F12 nothing.
I am running KDE but installed from the DVD image.
The sound card is on the motherboard which is a Gigabyte P31.
Any thoughts or pointers would be appreciated.

Yes, exactly the point of my earlier reply.
If you 'cp' or 'mv' the vmlinuz and initrd.img to
your internal disks, then grub can find them.
