I setup a "Send Link" on the Chrome Bookmark Bar using the script below
javascript:location.href='mailto:?SUBJECT='+document.title+'&BODY='+escape(location.href);
In KDE /SystemSettings/Default Applications , the default email is set
to Thunderbird and I get the Error below

display in FC13
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
On the same machine I have a fedora 11 and a fedora 13 installed.
On the fedora 11 I can get the resolution of 1280x1024 but not
on the fedora 13. I can only get 1024x768.
This is the ouput of xrandr on F13.
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 8192 x 8192
VGA1 connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm
x
0mm
1024x768 60.0*
800x600 60.3 56.2
848x480 60.0
640x480 59.9
Removing xorg.config does not change
I also attached the file:
/var/log/Xorg.0.log from F13

problem with fc 13 and hplip
by Barry
I set up FC 13 as a guest on a KVM host, and I installed the latest
HPLIP from the sourceforge site. (The fedora rpm hadn't worked at all.)
I'm trying to print to an HP3050 attached to another box on my LAN, but
it seems to be driver problem with FC 13.
I can print very simple files -- so I can send the file to the print
server, but I fail to print most web pages in irefox. I've tried
printing to a ps file, but end up with a blank page as soon as the page
becomes a little complex.
I installed HPLIP 3.10.9 on the guest; the host is running CentOS 5.5,
with HPLIP 3.10.6, and I can printly correctly to the same printer. The
guest is running a 32-bit system, but the host is 64. I'll try dropping
back to 3.10.6 if no one has a cleaner solution.
Thanks.

problem sending/recieving mails
by maina@linuxmail.org
Hi all,
I ave setup a Fedora server as LAN gateway and also as a transparent
proxy server but all client "passing through" that server are enable to
send or receive mails.
The mail server is hosted on the same LAN running mdaemon, both servers
are on private IP block(192.168.0.0/24). Am using cisco router to do
port forwading for mailserver(25,110,143) ports.
If i eliminate Fedora box and direct traffic from LAN to cisco router
everything works.
My question is why is it when i use Fedora box as LAN gateway clients
are unable to send/receive mails? I ave done nating on that box.
Fodora 12 fully updated(as at 2/11/2010).

Another Question About Webcams in F13
by Manuel Escudero
Hi!
As I said before, the last webcam I bought was useless it was not Linux
fault.
I went to the Steren Shop and they changed it to me for another webcam, this
time
the COM-105 one, wich uses other USB Driver and works perfectly with Cheese
by just plugging it.
The cam also works with my Windows 7 VM very well, but I have a New problem:
In the webcam features, it says the cam has a 5MP resolution interpolated,
but in
the instructions it says the cam has a 1.3 MP Resolution, wich is really
poor for what
I wanna do.
¿How can I reach that 5MP Resolution in Linux? ¿What does that mean?
¿Does this webcam can really record a 5MP Video? ¿How can I do it?
Thanks!
P.S. No matter I use Cheese or the Webcam's recording software for Windows,
the resolution is very very poor :(

Fedora 13 install
by Rod McCown
Trying to install Fedora 13. Install freezes while partitioning disk and
creating file systems. Using ATA drives, AMD Duron 1GHz proc, with 1GB RAM.
Tried letting it put it's own layout on there. Tried using just 4 basic
partitions and using ext2. System freezes. Any ideas why?

Panel Font Color
by Sawrub
I have been successfully able to change the font color in the panel by
adding the following code to the .gtkrc-2.0 file. But doing same have
given me 1 issue, right clicking the Thrash icon gives me the pop-up
for the thrash properties but the text in there is all white on white
background. though I can see are the icons and on hovering the mouse
over the rows the selected row becomes blue so can read the text too.
But without that its bad, same is the behaviour with the system
monitor applet.
#Changes Panel Font Color
style "panel"
{
fg[NORMAL] = "#ffffff"
# other commented values
}
widget "*PanelWidget*" style "panel"
widget "*PanelApplet*" style "panel"
class "*Panel*" style "panel"
widget_class "*Mail*" style "panel"
class "*notif*" style "panel"
class "*Notif*" style "panel"
class "*Tray*" style "panel"
class "*tray*" style "panel"
Any help is appriciated.

Good riddance to F13: Looking forward to F14?
by Ranjan Maitra
This morning, I woke up to wake up my trusty IBM T61 Thinkpad laptop
from its short hibernation. The hibernation stalled with a translucent
screen: this has happened a few times before in F13's troubled
relationship with the laptop so after a while, I tried the trusted
Windoze way of hard rebooting the machine (hang on to the power off
button, not the command, for dear life). However, unlike other
instances, I came back to a black screen with a blinking cursor. This
happened a few times I repeated the exercise, so I switched off rhgb
and quiet and found that it got stuck after atd was switched on. I
tried the Ctrl-Alt-F2 option and logged in as root (all the while, the
screen was going back to the blinking cursor and had to brought back
so this was a major pain), and then looked at /var/log/messages. Turns
out that there was a message there which said something like sealert
detected a lxdm-binary leak and was preventing access to a huge name drive.
After googling on this, I could not get anywhere, not only that, I can
not find a way to do anything. Can anyone suggest anything here?
I have been from FC1 through F13, and Fedora is my only distribution,
but even I have to say that F13 was really the worst of the lot.
Kernel(!) bug reports on Fedora which I filed religiously -- along
with possible quack fixes to help guide to the source of the problem
-- went nowhere, in many cases nothing even looked at, beyond
assignment, which is so different from my usual Fedora experience. So,
I am hoping that we will bury F13 tomorrow and go back to having a
great experience with F14 (which I always had, till F13).
Not a rant, but the frustrations of a believer in a great and true OSS
product (that is Fedora) which has suddenly lost its sheen for whatever
reason I can not fathom.
Best wishes,
Ranjan

Which package you would like every new Fedora user to see?
by Valent Turkovic
Which piece of software you believe that every new Fedora user should
be aware of that isn’t installed by default on Fedora Live CD?
Why do you think that this package should be installed by default?
Make your claim strong enough and I’ll include it by default in new
Fusion Linux 14 Fedora Remix.
