OpenOffice crashes compiz on F 14
by Kirk Lowery
The subject line pretty well summarizes it. I've got a vanilla Fedora 14
box, with the default theme and compiz enabled. Compiz works fine until I
try to do *anything* with Oo.o. Then it crashes.
I've googled around and apparently Oo.o has had issues with gnome gtk and
compiz, but I was unable to come up with a workaround except to disable
compiz.
Suggestions?
TIA!
Kirk

Help. Motherboard changed. Everything is fine except eth0.
by Lucélio Gomes de Freitas
Please need advice/help.
FIRST OF ALL:
1 => System got down correctly. Normaly. Right way.
1.1=> Needed to change only motherboard by one 100% compatíble, and HDs are
ok.
PROBLEM(with new motherboard):
2=> Fedora 14 commes ok and in the file "boot messages" generated we have:
All initializations shows:
[ ok ]
but on the "on board" network....
Device eth0 seems not present, delaying initialization. [FAILED]
How to recognize the eth0 on board? There is only this eth0(on board) on
this machine.
Thanks in advance.
Lucélio.

mainstream kernel code contain RT3090 support; why Fedora not include it?
by Franta Hanzlík
Know anyone why Fedora not contain drivers for Ralink RT3090/RT3091/RT3092
PCI/PCIe and USB wireless adapters?
It seems as these are supported in mainstream kernel sources, but Fedora for
any reason not compile them (corresponding symbols CONFIG_RT2800PCI_RT30XX and
CONFIG_RT2800USB_RT30XX are not defined). I found some information from
beginning this year about improper driver support for these device. But now?

Configuration of HP L2045 monitor
by Chris Jones
I have Fedora 14 installed and now discover that between Fedora 12 and
Fedora 14, the resolution of my HP L2045W monitor has changed from
1600x1200 down to 800x600. How do I reconfigure the resolution to 1600x1200?

F14 and qtnx client
by Joachim Backes
Hi all,
somebody has been successful in connecting the qtnx client to a server
running the nxserver from nomachine?
Wondering about the fact that there are only *fc11* versions of the qtnx
client software :-)
If starting qtnx after having configured it, I only get an error msg like
------------------------------------------------------
Process started
stderr> Pseudo-terminal will not be allocated because stdin is not a
terminal.
-------------------------------------------------------
I was not successful in finding helpful entries in the forums.
Kind regards

I've upgraded from FC11 to FC13 and then FC14 why are some packages still FC11 ? I had no errors in upgrading?

various errors related to configuration
by Howard Howell
I started with an evolution configuration error, and now a
Firefox/Mozilla configuration error, so it appears to me that this might
be a system level error. Maybe some file or directory permissions
issue, or perhaps a generic configuration error.
I tried using the Firefox ProfileManager to create a new profile, but
that lost me all my bookmarks, as well as not changing a problem getting
my home page to load at startup, in spite of that being the selection on
the preferences page, even after creating a new user profile with the
profile manager. Java won't run, even after reloading from the software
add/remove manager.
Next I went to the Java website to get the new package, and retrieved
the jre-6u23-linux-x64-rpm.bin file. when I attempted to source that
file I get:
$ ./j*bin
Unpacking...
Checksumming...
Extracting...
UnZipSFX 5.50 of 17 February 2002, by Info-ZIP (Zip-Bugs(a)lists.wku.edu).
replace jre-6u23-linux-amd64.rpm? [y]es, [n]o, [A]ll, [N]one, [r]ename:
y
inflating: jre-6u23-linux-amd64.rpm
error: can't create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/.rpm.lock
(Permission denied)
but the file appears to uncompress and be present as:
jre-6u23-linux-x64-rpm
but I am unsure of loading it with the prior error in existence.
There may be other configuration issues as well, that I just haven't
stumbled onto the situation where they will show up yet.
Is anyone else having these kinds of problems?
I haven't had this much difficulty since maybe my first Fedora
installation. I know that this is all 64 bit, and that there may be
some teething issues for me, but these kinds of errors, and the issues
of moving all the configurations under a new umbrella with little
background on why, where, premissions, access, and guidance doesn't give
me much to go on. I know just enough to be dangerous, and apparently
not enough to be able to find and fix the problems.
Any further help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Les H
