OT: Tool to work with bash script files
by Michael D. Setzer II
I've been looking for a tool to help working on bash script.
I am the maintainer of the g4l project, and its primary script has been about
3300 lines long. I've been going thru it, and using functions and other
methods, I've gotten it down to about 2066 lines.
I didn't write the original script, and have mostly just been adding new
features and making modifications where necessary, but have just released a
new version, so thought cleaning things up before other things come up.
Lots of programs to work with C programs.
Thanks.

nVidia graphics problem, my experience
by n2xssvv.g02gfr12930
I had a problem getting my laptop to boot Fedora 12 with the latest
2.6.3x kernels. It was fixed by disabling of hybrid SLi in the BIOS. For
GUI problems I always make sure I have the vesa drivers installed and an
xorg.conf file to match. Unfortunately it seems the yum nvidia graphics
driver updates recently have required yum to be run twice, before all
the updated components are installed as required. So if you try
rebooting before the complete update then the GUI can fail, as I found.
Heck, I can still manage with Fedora easier than Windows when thinks go
awry. For a start there's more help and info out there to help you, not
forgetting the helpful folks here. Perhaps I'm just more geeky than most.

What is also interesting is that when I upgraded the BIOS of my Dell
Latitude D630 yesterday, the Load_Cycle_Count
started to grow again. So, it looks like that the BIOS you are
running also affects how much you can
limit Load_Cycle_Count.

Nvidia upgrade issue - choppy sound and video
by Gary Waters
Hello,
I am using Fedora 12. I just upgraded from an nvidia geforce 6200LE
512MB to an nvidia geforce 8400GS 512MB ( PCI-X ). All video and sound
"jumps" and is quite choppy. When I switch back to the 6200LE everything
falls back into place. I decided to update to the latest nvidia driver
and have the same issue. The 6200LE works fine, whereas the 8400GS has
the sound and video issues. The card works fine in windows 7. It also
seems to play youtube videos well in firefox ( Linux ). Any
suggestions/solutions would be appreciated.

Wireless camera under Fedora
by Timothy Murphy
I have a Linksys WVC54GCA camera running under Fedora-12.
This camera can be connected under Ethernet or WiFi.
The theory is that you connect it under Ethernet
and set it up, and it then runs under WiFi.
I find that while it works for one dhcpd lease
(or possibly two leases) it seems always to fail then.
As I want to run it at a remote site (in another country)
this is not much use.
I don't see anything in /var/log/messages to explain this.
The camera does not seem to ask for renewal of its lease.
Assuming that this is something to do with the camera,
I wonder if anyone has advice on a suitable WiFi camera
for this purpose?
I guess I'd prefer a tilt and shift camera,
if such is available for a reasonable sum.
If anyone has experience of running such a camera
under Fedora or CentOS I should very much like to hear
your experience.
