Fedora 11 GDM - unwanted list of all local users and impossible to customize?
by jaivuk
Hello guys,
I did not use gdm for some time and now I'm not happy how it looks in Fedora
11.
First of all - the list of local users is unacceptable from security
reasons. Even if it supports such "an " option - how it can be the default
one?!
Second problem I have is shutdown button (and possibly restart as well) -
when you click on shutdown button by mistake, system will shut - there is no
confirmation dialog.
I also tried to find some ways how to customize gdm in Fedora 11 but I did
not find any usable guide.
Can anybody please advise me how can I have prompt asking for username only
(showing last logged user at maximum) and not displaying the list of all
local users?
Also can I somehow add confirmation or remove shutdown restart buttons from
gdm screen?
Or can you please advise any alternative to gdm?
Thank you very much,
Jan

fedora 13 - upgarding from DVD with no /boot
by Genes MailLists
I have an existing install (f10) with a root partition and /home partition.
When I boot the install DVD - there is no screen which offers me a
choice whether i want to upgrade or do a fresh install - it -assumes- I
want to install fresh.
Is this a bug or is there an option I need to put in somewhere to
upgrade this system?
thanks for any pointers.

F13 and adobe flash
by Gregory P. Ennis
Everyone,
I did a upgrade from F12 to F13 by means of using preupgrade-cli. I had
some difficulty with the disc space available on /boot but was able to
use the published work arounds to make the installation happen.
Everything seems to be working normally except for multiple crashes of
evolution. (See Buzilla 598189) as well as not being able to use
youtube videos.
Adobe flash seems to be installed properly, but the youtube videos will
not function properly. Any body have a solution for this?

yum help 32 bit libs on 64 bit install
by Genes MailLists
I have an x86_64 bit F13 installed. Now I need to add 32 bit libraries
to be able to run some 32 bit executables ...
I have been trying to do this 1 library at a time and it is tedious
and hard to know if I am getting the right pieces. Run an app - watch
errors - find 64bit version - do yum provides on expected path to 32 bit
version - yum install .. repeat over and over ..
Is there a way to do something like:
yum groupinstall '@ Gnome Desktop Environment'.i686
i.e. How do i do a groupinstall but request the i686 arch ?
I found no option to set the base arch ?
I thought of making a separate yum repo config and replace all the
arch variable tags with i686 but I was not convinced this was good idea ...
thanks.

F13 Live CD - No Video
by Dennis
I can't get Fedora 13 Live CD to show any video when trying to run
after the Grub boot menu selected and run.
Adding the option to run in Vesa mode does nothing.
Any ideas on how to get the Live CD to show video with some other options?

Gnome mnemonic underscores
by Ian Chapman
Hi,
Has anybody else noticed that the underscores indicating short cut keys
in gnome apps appear to be missing? Is this a bug, or another another
gnome idea that this makes things 'easier'?

F13 install from netinst.iso ERROR: The installer has tried to mount image #1.
by Richard Shaw
I'm trying to install F13 on my netbook although I had a problem
similar to this when installing to my desktop.
I've got the F13 netinst.iso (i386) installed to a 1GB flash drive
using the livecd tools. It boots fine, anaconda runs, but right after
wiring the partitions and filesystems to disk I get this error:
The installer has tried to mount image #1, but cannot find it on the hard drive.
Please copy this image to the hard drive and click Retry.
---
Isn't the netinst method supposed to be smart enough to go to the net
for the install files? I mean it's part of the name of the image!
I tired the "askmethod" way but then it wanted to download the
install.img as well which is already on the flash drive.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Richard
