cp210x.ko hangs on open attempt
by Roger K. Wells
I have a RS485 serial device (Quatech SSU2-300) that when plugged
into a USB (2.0) port appears to be recognized correctly. dmesg yields:
cp210x 3-1:1.0: cp210x converter detected
usb 3-1: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 8
usb 3-1: cp210x converter now attached to ttyUSB0
A "C" language program attempting to use this port hangs at the
open call.
This same program with the same device worked on a Centos 5.5
install on the same computer.
uname -r : 2.6.34.7-56.fc13.x86_64
The USB device works in Windows XP so I don't think there is a defect
there.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.

I want to disable KDE desktop option in GDM login, but I don't want to
remove all the KDE apps so yum remove @kde-desktop is not an option.

OpenOffice to LibreOffice
by Antonio Olivares
Dear folks,
Upon reading some alerts, I have found out that OpenOffice is being forked and now it will be LibreOffice. It has the backing of Novel, Red Hat, ..., etc. This had to be done because of Oracle's recent treatment of OpenSolaris, and the possibility of it doing something similar here?
http://itmanagement.earthweb.com/osrc/article.php/3905711/Open-Office-Sui...
We would have still had gnumeric, and abiword, koffice and other software, but just in case Oracle changes it's mind?
Now,
Fedora 14 will continue to ship with OpenOffice version, will next version of Fedora switch to LibreOffice? Thanks!
Regards,
Antonio

Isn't that an odd thing to do? I would have thought that the point of
having different pre-final release versions, including release
candidates, is to progressively improve the version ie reduce bugs - as
it gets closer to a final release?
Thanks for the info though . .
Phil.
