rescue mode
by Peter G.
Which disk would I download to get into rescue mode on F14 x86_64?
All I need to do is reinstall grub, after (hopefully) repairing a broken
Windows XP that I have not been able to boot for a year because of having
gotten a new motherboard a year ago.
I do not have a floppy drive or any type of usb drive. All I have are my hard
drives and a CD/DVD drive.

Is this happening to anyone else in evolution.
by Aaron Konstam
Periodically expunge does not work on some or all my folders when using
evolution. Currently I can't expunge any deleted messages from Inbox or
Junk. Expunge works on other folders which I created,
In the past this condition went away after a while.
Does this happen to anyone else and do you know how too correct this
condition? I know I can go on the evolution list but first I want too
know if I am alone with this problem.

debug info disinstall
by Walter Cazzola
Dear all,
to notify a bug I'd to install the debug symbols of kde via
debuginfo-install kdepim
Since it occupies 2.5Gb on my hard disk I'd like to disinstall them.
Looking on the debuginfo-install help I didn't find any option to
remove them. The only option I can thing of is to do a yum remove of the
list of packages installed by debuginfo-install but I'm quite sure this
is not the right thing to do.
Do you know how to remove them?
Thanks

tigervnc
by compdoc
I have tigervnc server installed on a fedora 14 box, and when I use the
Windows tigervnc client it is terribly slow.
Normally, I use the ultravnc windows client which is very fast, however when
I use it to connect to the tigervnc server, there is a long pause with a
black screen before the unlock popup comes up.
I think this is happening because the client and server are negotiating
which encoding to use. But I might be completely wrong.
After I log in, everything is fine - screen updates are fast and it works as
it should. But if I let it idle, the screen blacks out again and the long
pause occurs before the login prompt.
Does anyone know how to prevent the long pause, or even better, where I can
find vnc4server (Xvnc4) for fedora? Does it exist in some repo somewhere?
Vnc4server is very fast and doesn't have these pause issues.
Thanks for any help...

trying to install Cisco VPN Client on core Release 13 (kernel 2.6.34.7-66.fc13.i686)

Hi - I'm trying to install a Cisco VPN client and it's asking me a question I
don't know how to answer:
In order to build the VPN kernel module, you must have the
>kernel headers for the version of the kernel you are running.

Enabling sqlite in php 5.3.5
by Dietz, Andrew
How does on enable sqlite in php without compiling php from scratch?
I thought I had the packages needed for sqlite to work, namely:
[root@h... ~]# rpm -qa | grep php
php-pdo-5.3.5-1.fc14.x86_64
php-cli-5.3.5-1.fc14.x86_64
php-common-5.3.5-1.fc14.x86_64
php-5.3.5-1.fc14.x86_64
but still, phpinfo(() tells me the sqlite modules are not configured to
load:
Configure Command './configure' (...) '--without-sqlite'
'--disable-pdo' '--without-sqlite3' (...)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Audacious
by Kostas Sfakiotakis
Greetings ,
After yesterdays updates audacious seems to have lost the mp3 plugin and
can no longer
play mp3 files . The version with the problem is
audacious-2.4.3-1.fc14.x86_64
audacious-plugins-freeworld-mp3-2.4.0-1.fc14.x86_64
audacious-plugins-2.4.3-1.fc14.pl1.x86_64
audacious-libs-2.4.3-1.fc14.x86_64
Up until now i have never had a problem playing mp3 files . If am
correct the thing is that
the mp3 plugin seems to be installed but audacious ( the
freeworld-mp3-2.4.0-1.fc14.x86_64)
doesn´t seem to recognize it . Can someone tell me what´s going wrong ?
