Ah, OK, if the default has changed for F15/F16 then it is not
worthwhile to raise an issue for F14.
The packages I built work so I am happy.
Thanks for your comments.

Firefox Gnome cannot "save as" to a new folder
by Mick M.
Hello;
I am able to create a new folder under KDE using Firefox.
In Gnome I select "Save Page As" then "Create Folder"
I get the drop down box for 2 seconds and it closes.
KDE lets me enter a name for the folder, press the rectangle at the end, and save.
This is F14 fully updated as of today.
Thanks
Mick M

PDF manipulation software
by Rich Mahn
I have dozens of PDF files containing a few thousand scanned images that I need to organize.
I am looking for suggestions for PDF software that will:
- rotate pages, groups of pages, or entire PDF files
- re-order pages
- move/copy pages from one PDF file to another
without re-imaging (or whatever the term is) so as not to degrade the images.
Also desirable but not necesary would be:
- the ability to add indexes/tables of contents
- annotation/notes as an adjunct on the page
What possibilities are available for Fedora? or even Windoze? (I can run
Windoze under a VM, or possibly even use wine, depending on the software.)

Increasing disk size of FC14 image running under Win7
by Tod Thomas
I've installed VirtualBox on a Win7 workstation and established a running
FC14 VM. Everything was fine until I tried doing a yum upgrade and then I
discovered my boot partition needed to be at least 7GB! to be able to
perform the upgrade.
I've already gone into the VirtualBox interface and increased the virtual
disk size, but does anyone have any working hints on using the GParted iso
to increase the size of my VM boot partition?
Also, why didn't FC14 establish an adequately sized boot partition during
installation? Seems odd the default install would be setup to create a boot
partition too small to ever perform a subsequent upgrade. Did I miss
something? Is there a way to point yum to some other place on disk to allow
the upgrade to complete?
Thanks - Tod

xterm vs gnome terminal
by JD
Hi all,
I use cscope often for quick "search and fix" activities :)
cscope lets the user to set up
and env var called VIEWER in order
to pop a separate window in which to view/edit the file
which the selects from the list of files found.
My VIEWER env var has been set for a long time to a shell
script which invokes an xterm as follows:
$ echo $VIEWER
/home/jd/bin/viewer
$ cat /home/jd/bin/viewer
#!/bin/sh
xterm -fn 12x24 -bg white -fg black -e vi $* &
How can I replace xterm with gnome-terminal?
I tried to simply change xterm to gnome-terminal
but gnome-terminal does not recognize the args
and never executes vi on the file selected.
Thanx for any hints, tips....etc.

Firefox contrast
by Mick M.
Hello;
I am using the latest version of Firefox, under F14 fully updated and KDE.
What I would like to know is how to heighten the contrast of the drop down menu.
E.g. - bookmarks, the one under the cursor is very low contrast.
Normal is black on white, under the mouse cursor changes to white on light grey - so it becomes invisible.
I have changed themes and skins to no avail.
Thanks
Mick M.

UPnP vs. Fedora 14 firewall
by Mike Wohlgemuth
I have several different services on my network that use UPnP, and none
of them seem to work unless I disable the Firewall on my Fedora 14
desktops/laptops. Everything I've read says that I should be able to
allow UDP on port 1900, but that doesn't seem to help. Can anyone tell
me or point me to documentation about what I need to enable to let my
Fedora 14 machines to see the services via UPnP?
Thanks
