nedit
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
I cannot any more make CRT+C ctl+V under nedit as soon that there are
2 windows open.
Is nedit still maintained?
I would be happy to use another editor if I find one which let me
copy data by column (CTL+Maj V with nedit).
Thank for any help.

Upgrade advice
by Jeffrey Ross
I'm looking for some suggestions on how to upgrade an older Fedora system
and keep as many of the configurations as possible for the applications
that are being used.
Currently the system is running Fedora 16 and there are at least two
things that are preventing me from successfully running fedup or the yum
upgrade.
The first stumbling block is that system was installed with separate
partitions for /, /boot, /var, & /usr and I think that the separation of /
and /usr is my biggest issue.
The second issue is the system is setup with RAID1 on all partitions with
the bootloader (Grub ?) installed on both disks in the event of a disk
failure.
I would like to avoid a new/clean install (I know I can preserve /home) if
at all possible.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
Thanks, Jeff

Configuring/setup of WiFi card on Dell E6220 Laptop
by Max Pyziur
Greetings,
I've just installed F22 on a Dell E6220 laptop (in anticipations of next
week's F23 rollout).
;-)
A few issues left to squre
I'm trying to setup WiFi (the Ethernet device works correctly, btw).
There is an external switch controlling power to the card, and an
indicator light. Those show that the item is "on."
lspci -v for the WiFi card reports the following:
02:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM43228 802.11a/b/g/n
Subsystem: Dell Wireless 1530 Half-size Mini PCIe Card
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 10
Memory at e1b00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 3
Capabilities: [58] Vendor Specific Information: Len=78 <?>
Capabilities: [48] MSI: Enable- Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+
Capabilities: [d0] Express Endpoint, MSI 00
Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting
Capabilities: [13c] Virtual Channel
Capabilities: [160] Device Serial Number 00-00-19-ff-ff-5a-60-d8
Capabilities: [16c] Power Budgeting <?>
Kernel modules: bcma
iwconfig and ifconfig -a report no instance of the card.
In NetworkManager, this is no MAC address shown for a WiFi card when I try
to do a WiFi setup
I assume that is a kernel module issue. When I issue the
modprobe bcma
and then
lsmod | grep bcma
it shows that the module is loaded.
However having googled some on this subject, I see that there are probably
other modules (and configuration settings) required to make this WiFi card
operable.
Per suggestions, I have installed kmod-wl, akmod-wl, but I suspect that
there is something else that needs to be done.
Much thanks for any advice on this topic.

Another F22 issue
by Stephen Davies
Under F21, I could configure a screen saver which trawled through my photo
collection.
I cannot find this facility under F22.
Does it exist? If so, where? If not, why not?

Weird transparency in display
by Beartooth
Running F22 in either rescue or normal mode, I have a problem
that I don't see how to attack. When I click on anything that is supposed
to bring up a menu, it seems to -- but so faintly that I can't read any
of it. How do I remedy this??

fedup to F22 issues
by Stephen Davies
I have just run
fedup --network 22
and have several issues as a result.
1. PostgreSQL databases were not upgraded from 9.3 to 9.4 and subsequent
attempts to do this manually fail due to locale differences (AU vs US).
(I have requested help on the PostgreSQL list).
2. Amavisd-new no longer works due to issues with PERL.
This seems to be a result of updating PERL from 5.18 to 5.20 breaking a bunch
of modules.
I thought that I had resolved these by following the hints in cpan error
messages but cannot install Net::LibIDN because idna.h is missing.
I am forced to run without spam or virus checking as a result.
3. All of my local sendmail aliases disappeared causing many inbound emails to
be rejected.
I manually rebuilt /etc/mail/aliases to fix this.
4. After rebooting to F22, I had only one workspace.
I reconfigured to four via settings but now I get apparently random blank
screen with just the mouse cursor visible. Not even a task bar.
The only way that I have found to get my work spaces back is to logout and
login again.
5. Some fonts (particularly within Wine apps??) have changed and are much less
readable than before.
MyHeritage Family Tree Builder is one example. I have no idea which fonts were
used in F21 nor in F22.
I'd be grateful for any help in resolving these.
Cheers,
Stephen
