OpenGL support
by Paul Cartwright
I have an issue with my display driver.. mostly with enlightenment, but
also trying to run steam games.. e19 gives me an error on login about no
OpenGL support from my video driver.. I am running akmod-nvidia for my
Nvidia GeForce 705 card..
is there something special I need to enable OpenGL for this?? would the
Nvidia----.run driver do this?? suggestions?
dnf list|grep akmod-nvidia
akmod-nvidia.x86_64 1:352.30-2.fc22
@System
akmod-nvidia-304xx.x86_64 304.125-3.fc22.10
rpmfusion-nonfree
akmod-nvidia-340xx.x86_64 1:340.76-3.fc22
rpmfusion-nonfree-updates
lspci|grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GF119 [GeForce GT
705] (rev a1)
uname -a
Linux pauls-desktop.attlocal.net 4.0.4-301.fc22.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 21

mmmm, not sure why I booted into 4.0.4-301 when I have 4.1.5-200
installed.. but that shouldn't make a difference, should it?

Strange behaviour of ln
by Paolo Galtieri
I've tried this on 2 different systems, and on both systems ln -s fails
in the same way.
Here's the steps
mkdir Test
cd Test
>afile
cd ..
ln -s Test/afile Test/afile2
ls -l Test
This is the output:
/bin/ls: cannot access Test/afile2: No such file or directory
total 0
-rw-rw-r--. 1 pgaltieri pgaltieri 0 Aug 24 13:46 afile
l?????????? ? ? ? ? ? afile2
cd Test
ln -s afile afile3
ls -l
This is the output:
total 0
-rw-rw-r--. 1 pgaltieri pgaltieri 0 Aug 24 13:46 afile
l?????????? ? ? ? ? ? afile2
-rw-rw-r--. 1 pgaltieri pgaltieri 0 Aug 24 13:46 afile3
ln -s Test/afile afile4
ls -l afile4
This is the output:
-rw-rw-r--. 1 pgaltieri pgaltieri 0 Aug 24 13:46 afile4
The problem occurs only if the destination is in a directory.
This issue came up when trying to setup radiusd. The README.rst says
$ cd raddb
$ ln -s mods-available/foo mods-enabled/foo
When I tried this as root I got the strange ln behaviour, but the
problem is not user specific.
Anyone else seeing this? Is this a bug?
Any help is appreciated.

Open Broadcaster software in Fedora
by Ranjan Maitra
Hi,
Does anyone have any experience with using this software in Fedora 22? Apparently, unlike my preferred recordmydesktop, it creates mp4 files. Is it packaged as an RPM anywhere? I can build from source, but I thought that i would check here first.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

low resolution after grub2
by Konstantin Svist
I have Fedora 21 XFCE x64 running on a laptop with dual graphics:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core
Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0416] (rev 06)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GK104M
[GeForce GTX 870M] [10de:1199] (rev ff)
Grub2 is displaying full 1920x1080 resoltuion -- but as soon as I run of
the kernel options, it switches to BIOS resolution (text mode) and runs
like that for a few seconds (non-"quiet" spits out a bunch of
init/kernel messages) -- and only later switches to a full graphics mode
again.
How do I make it stay in high resolution mode all the time??
What I've tried so far:
* checked that grub2 has "set gfxmode=auto" and "set gfxpayload=keep"
* tried booting without initrd entry -- in the past, that used to boot
kernel in current grub resolution and show a number of penguins. Now
it's just text..
* tried booting with and without plymouth ("rhgb" option in kernel line,
and yum-removed plymouth* with regenerating initramfs by "dracut -f")
Some more info:
bumblebee and nvidia driver are installed to run the nvidia card --
everything works great in X
current kernel 4.1.5-100.fc21.x86_64
Not sure who to file a bug against -- grub2? kernel? etc?

How can I list all the rpms in a group.
I tried
dnf group list "Web Server"
and
dnf list "Web Server"
neither is the bit of magic I desire...

Dolphin vs. KDE Desktop -- Delete vs. Trash
by Jonathan Ryshpan
Right clicking on an item in the Dolphin File browser gives an option
to delete it but not to move it to the trash. There doesn't seem to be
any way to move a file in Dolphin to the trash, only to delete it.
Right clicking on an item on the KDE Desktop gives a option to move it
to the trash but not to delete it. There doesn't seem to be any way to
delete a file from the Desktop, only to move it to the trash.
Or have I missed something?

More KDE Dolphin weirdness
by Jonathan Ryshpan
When dolphin displays the trash folder, right clicking on an item
allows it to be restored to the (active) filesystem. While it is found
in a search, the file cannot be restored.

WTF? Authentication needed to create color profile?
by Tom Horsley
I've been using x2go with no problems. Suddenly when I connect
to work I start getting this popup saying I need to provide
root password to create a color profile. Where the heck is
this coming from? I don't give a hoot about color profiles,
accurate color reproduction, etc.
I see a static colord.service, I've always had problems
making static services go away with systemd. How can I
make this stop?
