openshot video editor on Fedora
by Samuel Sieb
Is anyone else using openshot on Fedora? I installed it from rpmfusion.
My son has been trying to edit a video and it just keeps crashing when
doing typical actions. I've tried it on computers with F23 and F24 (I
haven't upgraded any computers to F25 yet) and it does the same thing on
both. I can't imagine that this is expected, so is it my computers or
is it something with Fedora? The one crash I looked at in abrt appeared
to involve QT. I'm wondering if anyone else has used it recently
successfully either on Fedora or not.

NetworkManager failing to recognize ethernet connection
intermittently in F25
by stan
This is with Fedora 25, x86_64.
I've started to have a problem sometime within the last month, where on
boot I get a message that the ethernet link is up, but when I try to
use it, sometimes it can't be accessed. I've unloaded and reloaded the
ethernet driver, and that worked once, but not another time. If I
power down and restart the modem and router, usually NetworkManager
will recognize the link, though sometimes this take a couple of tries.
If I power up the modem and router, and then boot, NetworkManager
*never* recognizes the link, and I have to usually power down and power
up the modem and router to get NetworkManager to recognize the link.
Once the link is established, it works like it always has, and never
fails.
Is anyone else seeing this? Can you think of any reason this would
start happening barring a bug in NetworkManager?

Don't know if it's something to be concerned about or not?

Dual monitor control lost after upgrading to 25
by Philippe LeCavalier
Hi all,
Just upgraded to 25. The upgrade went very well but I can't seem to control
my monitors anymore. The Displays widget shows 'could not get screen
information'. Graphics in Details (which I believe to be accurate) are:
Gallium 0.4 on AMD CEDAR (DRM 2.46.0 / 4.8.15-300.fc25.x86_64, LLVM 3.8.0).
All I truly need to do is adjust the refresh and invert the monitors
left/right right/left (for now). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

how to suppress an old linux fedora when installing a new one?
by François Patte
Bonjour,
I want to install a new f25 on 2 disks using RAID 1.
I have an f24 installed on one disk and I want to suppresse it.
Anaconda shows this install as "Unknown linux system"(????). I tried to
suppress all partitions of this install using the "-" button, but this
fail. And after reinitialization of the disks, these partition are still
there and the sda disk as only 300Gb free while the new disk (sdb) has
1Tb free.
How to proceed to erase the old f24 install?
Thank you.

Need help with LVM recovery
by shadhin71@gmail.com
All,
I need help with following situation
OS: fedora 22
Dell
My root logical volume was full. As a result, I attempted to resize my home partition.
My physical volume :/dev/sda8
My VG:fedora
Logical volumes are:
/dev/mapper/fedora-root
/dev/mapper/fedora-root
Once, I resized volumes, I ran resizee2fs. However, system will not boot properly due to bad geometry.
To correct the situation, I ran mk2efs. This fix the geometry but, my /home/<user> is gone.
Now, I know data is there and I need to recover it.
I found a recovery point from 2014 in /etc/ LVM/archive. However, my problem is when I try to recover with
Pvcreate --uuid xxxx --restorefile file /dev/sda8
I get partition is already mounted error
Can someone help here please

Shell question
by JD
Reading lines from 2 files in such a way that each iteration
lets me read the next line from each file so that the items
read from each file are in sync as far as line number is concerned.
Is this "doable"?
For a single file, indexing to next line is automatic, visa vis
while read line; do
echo $line
done < some_file.txt
for when more than 1 file is involved, it is not so easy ...
Hypothetical (of course, non-working example):
export index=1
while true do;
file_A_line=`read line$index` # Read from file A
file_B_line=`read line$index` # read from file B
[ x$file_A_line = x -o x$file_B_line = x ] && break
<do something withfile_A_line and file_B_line>
index=`expr $index + 1`
done
So how can the reading from 2 files be accomplished and keep the index
to next line in sync?
I know it is a no brainer with a C program.
Thanx.
