libreoffice not working on F26 :: Couldn't find current GLX or EGL
context
by Adrian Sevcenco
Hi! In the wake of imminent release of F27 i upgraded to F26 :)
and libre office no longer starts :
starts with this :
X Error: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) 8
Extension: 153 (Uknown extension)
Minor opcode: 5 (Unknown request)
Resource id: 0xdc00034
X server found. dri2 connection failed!
DRM_IOCTL_I915_GEM_APERTURE failed: Invalid argument
and ends with this :
soffice.bin: Couldn't find current GLX or EGL context.
The thing is that i use Nvidia card (and driver)
glxinfo | head
name of display: :0
display: :0 screen: 0
direct rendering: Yes
server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
server glx version string: 1.4
server glx extensions:
GLX_ARB_context_flush_control, GLX_ARB_create_context,
GLX_ARB_create_context_profile, GLX_ARB_create_context_robustness,
GLX_ARB_fbconfig_float, GLX_ARB_multisample, GLX_EXT_buffer_age,
GLX_EXT_create_context_es2_profile, GLX_EXT_create_context_es_profile,
with :
akmod-nvidia-384.90-2.fc26.x86_64
and
kmod-nvidia-4.13.5-200.fc26.x86_64-384.90-2.fc26.x86_64
and the acceleration is working ... (so on the nvidia part everything
seems ok)
Have anyone some idea about this?
Thank you!

Very minor but very weird
by Jonathan Ryshpan
In the command interpreter (shell) the underline character
(underline_char) generally but not always echos as a space when
actually typed and generally but not always displays as an underline
when produced by the system. For example:
(1) $ echo underline_char
(2) underline_char
the underline echos as a space when actually typed on line (1) but then
changes to an underline when I hit return and line (2) appears. Line
(2) displays properly.
System:
4 processor true-intel CPUs
Fedora-26 with all upgrades
Konsole (KDE) version Version 17.04.1
What's going on? How can it be fixed?

best way to determine the "max" number of files for a drive/partition
by bruce
Hey guys..
Couple of questions. (I'll split them in sep mail msgs..)
1) What's a good/easy/best approach to getting the max possible number
of files for a drive. Isn't the inode count a "good" approximation for
this.
I've got a 30G cloud instance and i'm looking to have a bunch of small
files for a process.
thanks

why is firefox so &*^$#&^$^#$*&_*()&) SLOW!?!?
by Robert P. J. Day
i am beyond frustrated with how mind-bendingly slow as a dog is
firefox on my fully-updated F26 system. eg, i go on twitter, want to
just post a tweet, sometimes takes several *seconds* just to finally
get around to responding to keyboard strokes.
is anyone else seeing this? i am seriously ready to dump firefox
simply because it has turned into such a worthless piece of crap. what
is going on?

kernel-4.13.5-200.fc26.x86_64 DNS slowdown?
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I installed the above kernel this morning and immediately experienced
very noticeable delays in accessing websites (2 or 3 seconds each
time), apparently caused by slow DNS lookups. The same happened when
running a 'ping' from the Shell, so I don't think the browser (Chrome)
is to blame.
Rebooting with 4.13.4-200.fc26.x86_64 fixed the problem immediately.
Anyone else notice this?

Install with /boot in LVM
by S P Arif Sahari Wibowo
Is it possible to install Fedora - either with GUI or Kickstart
- with /boot in LVM? I know there are hack to move /boot to LVM
after installation, but after seeing how smoothly Ubuntu
installer doing that kind of installation, I am wondering
whether this can be done in Fedora installation?
Thank you.
