why is firefox so &*^$#&^$^#$*&_*()&) SLOW!?!?
by Robert P. J. Day
i am beyond frustrated with how mind-bendingly slow as a dog is
firefox on my fully-updated F26 system. eg, i go on twitter, want to
just post a tweet, sometimes takes several *seconds* just to finally
get around to responding to keyboard strokes.
is anyone else seeing this? i am seriously ready to dump firefox
simply because it has turned into such a worthless piece of crap. what
is going on?

kernel-4.13.5-200.fc26.x86_64 DNS slowdown?
by Patrick O'Callaghan
I installed the above kernel this morning and immediately experienced
very noticeable delays in accessing websites (2 or 3 seconds each
time), apparently caused by slow DNS lookups. The same happened when
running a 'ping' from the Shell, so I don't think the browser (Chrome)
is to blame.
Rebooting with 4.13.4-200.fc26.x86_64 fixed the problem immediately.
Anyone else notice this?

Install with /boot in LVM
by S P Arif Sahari Wibowo
Is it possible to install Fedora - either with GUI or Kickstart
- with /boot in LVM? I know there are hack to move /boot to LVM
after installation, but after seeing how smoothly Ubuntu
installer doing that kind of installation, I am wondering
whether this can be done in Fedora installation?
Thank you.

F26, Missing icons in Dolphin
by InvalidPath
So about 2 months ago I upgraded my work laptop and my home workstation
from F25 to 26. The laptop rolled great.. teh desktop however lost all
desktop and dolphin icons except for specials like for Ansible, SpiderOak,
Steam, etc.
I've been fighting this nonsense for a while now and have hit roadblock
after roadblock. I am a KDE Plasma user.. and I have not attempted Gnome,
nor any other DE just to see what'd happen... yet. I absolutely do NOT want
to ditch KDE since it works fantastically on my laptop. And while I've
finally gotten my panel icons stable, dolphin continues to throw fits.
Here's a copy/paste of what Dolphin spits out when run from Konsole:

I have manually downloaded Elementary.. but yet it still fails to be
recognized.
I am currently using Papirus-Adapta-Nokto, which is what fixed the lack of
icons in the app launcher. If I change my icon theme and save it.. then a
refresh of an open Dolphin window gives me icons again. Closing and
re-opening however removes them.
Any and all advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

nvidia akmod on several Intel desktops
by Jeandet Alexis
Hello,
In my lab we have a "funny" beaviour with nvidia akmods.
- On my desktop I have a i7-6700K with an integrated GPU plus a GTX
1050 Ti -> kernel/akmod updates works great
- On a second destop we have a i7-6950X without integrated GPU plus a
GeForce GTX 1050 -> akmod always fail we have to relaunch it manually
on each updates
- On a third desktop we have a i7-7820X without integrated GPU plus a
GeForce GTX 1050 -> akmod always fail we have to relaunch it manually
on each updates
I really looks like akmod fails if there is no aditionnal GPU. Does
anyone see the same behaviour?
Best regards,
Alexis.

Calligra flow 3.0.1-6 - missing from Fedora 26
by Earl Ramirez
Good Day Fedora Community,
After I have upgraded Fedora from F25 to F26, I noticed that calligra-
sheets and calligra-words was installed; however, calligra-flow, the
only product from the calligra suite that I use was no longer
installed.
I tried to install it, dnf simply ignores it and tries to install
calligra-core with all of the dependencies.
dnf list shows that calligra flow is currently at version 2.9.11 and
calligra-core and most of the calligra suite of tools are on version
3.0.1-6 and are in the updates repository.
Tried disabling the updates repo; however, I get the following error
that calligra-l10n is needed.
sudo dnf --disablerepo=updates install calligra-flow

Error:
Problem: package calligra-flow-2.9.11-19.fc26.x86_64 requires
calligra-core = 2.9.11-19.fc26, but none of the providers can be
installed
- conflicting requests
- nothing provides calligra-l10n needed by calligra-core-2.9.11-
19.fc26.x86_64
dnf list calligra-l10n shows that this package is only available in the
updates repository. Therefore, I would like to know how can I get
calligra-flow-2.9.11-19 upgraded to calligra-flow-3.0.1-6 so that I can
have it install on F26.
Thanks in advance.

error in clamav running clamscan as root from /.
by Howard Howell
Hi, guys,
What is this file:
/sys/module/ebtable_broute/uevent
When I do "# ls -al" it shows up as:
--w-------. 1 root root 4096 Oct 10 18:22 uevent
I have never seen a file with ONLY write permissions and root
ownership before. This would seem to be an error, or something left
over from debugging, unless it is an intrusion into my system.
Google didn't seem to know about it either.
