New AMD Hardware
by Eugene Poole
Since Fedora is so far ahead of Red Hat / CentOS, has any release been
tested on the new AMD Desktop and Server processors?
TIA

Suspend to RAM issue
by InvalidPath
For the past 4-5 days whenever I suspend, the next morning the laptop boots
up fully instead of resumes. Now prior to this week for teh past, IDK
about 2 months it'd been perfect. The battery is not being drained
overnight either.
The kicker is, I can open the lid and it'll wake up correctly an hour
later. I have not tried any other times thusfar.

Not sure what, if any log would be useful in this regard.
Thanks!

curl question - curl processes not working as the browser does..
by bruce
Hi.
This isn't a Fed isue, but I am using a fed system to run the curls!!!
Not sure if this is appropriate to the group/thread, but I'm flumoxed.
I'm trying to replicate the process for the FF/chrome browser to
generate the data for the final page. The target site is fairfied.edu,
class data.
The basic process, is :
1) get term
2) get subject
3) generate the class data
I've crafted curl (cmdline) statements to generate step 1/2. Step 3 is
where I run into issues.
One can go to the browser, implement firebug (or
livehttpheaders/etc..) to track the cookies/referrer/headers..
The target site/url is:
https://xessprod.fairfield.edu/FFPRODStudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/term/term...
The 1st page (term) you select the term in the term select dialog.
This invokes a dynamic process which is the "get" to generate the term
list.
Using the "term" (summer 2017), and then selecting the "submit"
generates the "subject" page. Again, selecting the "subject" dialog
invokes the dynamic process to fill in the sub sel dialog.
Selecting the subj "submit" uses both the term, as well as the subj,
and then generates the assoicated class page.
For the curl:
To generate the termlist:
terms::
curl -sS -A "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/38.0" --cookie-jar aa.lwp --cookie aa.lwp -L
'https://xessprod.fairfield.edu/FFPRODStudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/classSear...'
subj::
curl -sS -A "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:38.0) Gecko/20100101
Firefox/38.0" --cookie-jar aa.lwp --cookie aa.lwp -L
'https://xessprod.fairfield.edu/FFPRODStudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/classSear...'
try for class::
curl -v -sS -A "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:38.0)
Gecko/20100101 Firefox/38.0" --cookie-jar aa.lwp --cookie aa.lwp
-L 'https://xessprod.fairfield.edu/FFPRODStudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/searchRes...'
The curl for the class is screwing up and not generating the required
output. As far as I can tell, it seems that it should work, but I'm
missing some step that the browser is doing...
The output for each step/curl is json
In a browser, entering each of the following shoud work. However, the
term/subj urls work, with the class url failing...
terms
https://xessprod.fairfield.edu/FFPRODStudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/classSear...
subj
https://xessprod.fairfield.edu/FFPRODStudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/classSear...
class
https://xessprod.fairfield.edu/FFPRODStudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/searchRes...
Any thoughts/comments to point to my "doh" moment!!
thanks

Infrequently used, running Java Chatbot app - slow to respond to a
new request
by Philip Rhoades
People,
I have an infrequently used Java chatbot app - mostly accessed from
here:
https://www.facebook.com/PhiRhoChat
which connects with the chatbot running on my Fedora 25 x86_64 server.
Because it is infrequently used, it appears that Java is caching most of
the app to disk. When I start a new conversation I can hear the disk in
the server next to me churning and it takes some time before I get a
response from the bot - and also the delay seems to be causing problems
between FB and the bot on my server causing messages to be repeated etc.
Is there some way to force the OS to NOT disk cache the Java app so that
it will always respond as quickly as possible - even if there are long
periods between chats?
Thanks,
Phil.

Strange thunderbird behaviour on a reaceived email: not all
attachments are readable.
by Joachim Backes
I'm running F25 with thunderbird-52.1.0-1.fc25.x86_64. some days ago I
received an email with 11 pdf's attached. Trying to open some of the
pdf's with acroread or evince fails because of a message like: "attached
file has been damaged."
But if I foward or redirect this message with all attachments, then this
forwarded or redirected email is fully readable together with all
attachments.
Anybody has an explanation for such a behaviour?
Kind regards
Joachim Backes

Issue with thunderbird
by Paolo Galtieri
Folks,
I've been using thunderbird as my email client for a long time and
I've seldom had any issues with it, but now I'm having a strange problem
and I'm not sure where to go for help. The issue is I use thunderbird
as my email client for 3 email accounts. Thunderbird downloads my email
for 2 of those accounts, for the third, which happens to be gmail, it
tells me there are no new messages to download. The last email
thunderbird downloaded for my gmail account is May 4. If I look at my
gmail account using chrome it shows emails up to May 15. Also I receive
my gmail email on my Samsung S7 smartphone and it shows all recent email
up to May 15, so I don't think the issue is with gmail.
Does anybody know what might cause this behavior and how to fix it?
Gmail is my primary email, so I really do need to get this fixed.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Paolo

Looking for Intel mini board comparisons
by Robert Moskowitz
I have been searching for information to select an Intel X86_64 mini
board to build a small system on.
So far, it has been a struggle to figure out specs on my own and really
not making headway.
I am looking for a small at least duo core 64bit Intel codeset (as
opposed to ARM) in the 10W power usage range (12V?).
I need 2Gb, sata, usb, and ethernet.
I was hoping someone here is aware of some board comparisons.
Oh, and $50-$75 price range :)
thanks for any, and all, pointers.

SSSD & Host Keytab
by lnx1@gmx.us
Hi every body,
We are in the process of converting to SSSD for our Centos 6.9 & 7.3 servers.
We have the latest available "sssd-1.13.3-56.el6.x86_64" & "adcli-0.8.1-1.el6.x86_64" installed for our platform.
In a month or so most of our servers were dropped out of domain.
We followed several documents, including "Integrating Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 with Active Directory" and "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 Beta Windows Integration Guide".
I don't recall seeing any references to enable automatic kerberos host keytab renewal in those documents.
After the issue we started looking in to it and saw recommendations about running cron jobs to renew host keytabs:
Other documentation however indicated this issue has been addressed after sssd-1.13.3-8.el6:
My question is do we still need to configure a cronjob to run "msktutil --auto-update" and "kinit -k <servername>$"?
Is default value of "ad_maximum_machine_account_password_age = 30" sufficient for auto renewals?
We checked with AD team and they say machine passwords rotate every 30 days.
Thanks

cups sucks
by François Patte
Bonjour,
I try to configure a printer on my local network: computer A has an usb
printer plugged in. It works.
From computer B I want to use the computer plugged into A. I use
localhost:631 and configure the printer as ipp://A/ipp
After completing the drivers and so on, I send a test page from B
"printer is not responding"
On cups page on computer B I can see this printer: printer@A etc.
When I click on the link: "address has not been recognized".
This printer is shared, firewalld accept requests on ipp port....
sigh!
Thank you for any clue.

Sorry for the misinformation. I thought that workstation had dropped
the netinst image, but I see that it is still there. So yes, that's the
other difference. What I said is still valid for the live workstation
install.
