Never ending stream of PackageKit messages
by Juan Orti Alcaine
Hi,
My journal is full of these PackageKit messages, one of them each
second and never stop. Anyone knows how to stop them?
I have opened this bug:

F26+vim 8.0.983: No more gitcommit filetype in vim
by Frédéric Bron
Hi,
When I run 'git commit', I have no more syntax highlighting. If I do
set filetype=gitcommit, it still does not work.
The file name is .../.git/COMMIT_EDITMSG.
However 'git log | vim -' works with filetype=git.

F26: cannot import libraries in LibreOffice Calc
by Frédéric Bron
I installed F26 and want to reinstall my LibreOffice libraries but
apparently something happens that prevents them to be imported
correctly.
When I import unencrypted basic libraries, they get imported but the
module is empty.
When I import encrytped basic libraries, LibreOffice hangs after
password input with CPU at 100%.
I tried to just replace /.config/libreoffice/4/user/basic by the one I
had with F25 but then LibreOffice does not open and remains on the
splash screen.
I also tried to restore SELinux status:
restorecon -rv ~/.config/libreoffice
but this did not change anything. This is probably normal as
setenforce 0 did not improve anything.
Now I do not know what else to do.

Post long pending moderation [was Re: Your message to
users@lists.fedoraproject.org awaits moderator approval]
by Jonathan Ryshpan
The post has been pending moderation for about 2 days now. Possibly
because it has an attachment which makes it fairly long, about 150kB,
or possibly some other reason. Is it normal for postings to wait this
long for moderation?
Thanks - jon

Fedora 25 not booting after update
by Matt Morgan
The last time I signed off of Fedora 25, I opted to install updates.
Now it boots to a minimal grub menu, with no listing of kernel choices. I'm
sorry to say I haven't understood grub well for about 10 years. But I
looked up some guides to using the menu (without success).
If I type 'exit,' I am able to boot Windows, which is dual installed. But I
guess Grub can't find a kernel to boot, and I suppose it can't find its own
config?
I tried things like
boot (which said I needed to tell it a kernel to use first)
linux (which I thought was a way to load a kernel, but I just get "error:
command 'linux' not found")
ls (which can see the partitions, but can't tell what fs they are using,
for the most part).
Seems like the ls is kind of the issue--with the exception of one ext2
partition (swap I guess) and one FAT (Windows), grub can't read the
filesystems on the disk, so I can't tell it what kernel to boot.
Can anyone provide any guidance?
FYI, this is an HP Envy laptop, if that helps.
Thanks,
Matt

End of i686 Support
by Jeff Backus
Hello Fedora!
As you may or may not be aware, there is an active discussion on the development side as to whether or not we continue to support the x86 architecture.
There are a lot of exciting things happening within the Fedora community on top of the amazing and significant effort we put into making sure Fedora is stable, robust, and on the bleeding edge. And unfortunately, the contributors doing all of this work are a limited resource so we have to prioritize where we focus our attention.
Since x86-based hardware isn't very common anymore, it is understandable that most of the development side of the community is ready to move on and focus on other things that directly impact them. However, some of us still have a desire to see Fedora continue to support this venerable architecture.
Is x86 support still important to you? If so, then come join us! We need all of the help we can get. Not a developer? No problem! We still need people with hardware to help us evaluate software.
For those interested, you can find more information on the x86 Architectures page:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Architectures/x86
You can also find us on the x86 mailing list:
x86(a)lists.fedoraproject.org
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/admin/lists/x86.lists.fedoraproject.org/
We're also holding an organizational meeting on IRC in #fedora-meeting-2 on September 6th at 1900 UTC. We'd love to see you there!

Delta RPMs -
by Bob Goodwin
Is dnf no longer using delta rpms? I updated two computers this morning
and it looks like both were 100% rpms ...
Without that feature I have to be careful not to do large upgrades
during "prime time" on my Viasat account as I just did on the second
one. :-(

VMware player with Fedora 26 (kernel module not loaded)
by Robbi Nespu
Hi everyone, anyone found workaround on getting VMware player loaded
without problem ? I saw people posted on VMware community board and the
respond are less, so I try my luck posting here.
$ uname -a
Linux fedora26 4.12.8-300.fc26.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Aug 17 15:30:20 UTC 2017
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I already compiled the vmmon and vmnet library source successfully, copy
both *ko file to /lib/modules/<kernel version>/misc, ran depmod -a command
and reboot.
VMware still asking to locate and check GCC, a working workaround is to run
with "/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmplayer " command but when I loaded *vmdk into
VMware then I getting "Please make sure that the kernel module `vmmon’ is
loaded”"
Tried both latest VMplayer 7 and 12. I still gettting the same error. I
only have 2 kernel installed right now
$ rpm -q kernel
kernel-4.11.8-300.fc26.x86_64
kernel-4.12.8-300.fc26.x86_64
Tried with older kernel and still face the same error
