Message list text color -
by Bob Goodwin
I dnf installed SeaMonkey in an attempt to reduce problems I have with
configuring newer versions of Thunderbird which no longer accept some of
the add-ons essential to me. It seems to work as expected except for the
message "headers" listed above the message text.
I use white text on a black background and the "Subject, To, From,
etc"addresses are listed in dark blue which, for me at least, fades into
the background. I would like to change that to white, as it is in
Thunderbird. Almost as bad it turns red when the cursor is placed on the
line, why anyone wanted that feature is beyond my comprehension! Anyway,
it seems to me if it could be made to do that some one should know how
to undo it.
/I have inquired on the SeaMonkey mail list but the onlyresponses I got
were about how to configure using the gui menus, I saw no way to do that.
//I have experimented in about:config and only succeeded in making all
the tags white, rendering that function useless. I can fix that ...
Can anyone offer any helpful suggestions?

waay off topic... help if you wish, toss if you don't.. if more than
a few object.. would the moderator kill the thread please!
by bruce
Hi.
Got an issue. this is waaaay off topic. And I apologize. If more than
a few object, would the moderator please kill the thread. i wouldn't
have posted, but the list has been kind of "slow" lately, and.. well..
I have no tech/cool people to turn to!
I'm working on a crawling project. The overall project is geared
towards crawling a number of college sites (~400) to get class data,
as well as the required book data. The process targets the colleges,
does the fetch/parse, and stores the data into a mysql db. A similar
process occurs for the book data.
My issue. Please don't laugh. Make sure you're not drinking your
bourbon.. the crawl for the bookdata.. takes ~2-3 days.. running a
bunch of processes on a number of cheap digitalocean servers. The
process generates ~720K "sections" across the colleges (for the book
section/ISBN data).
I know there are people/resources who are "good" with this. I just
don't "know" any of them that I can talk with!
If you guys know of anyone ,or have any thoughts/ideas/etc.. I'd
appreciate the opportunity to discuss/chat/talk/etc..
And yeah, this process is really crude, but it more or less works.. If
I had clones of me, I'd implement queues, and test out other things to
speed up the overall processing time.
thanks for reading..
and again.. to the moderator.. if a few people object to this, feel
free to kill the thread!
thanks guys!

Would you have a mobo you could recommend?

obs won't record my screen
by Catonano
I hope this is the right place
Open Broadcaster (in short: obs) can record a single window but not the
whole screen
If recording the whole screen, it sees the mouse pointer but all the rest
is pitch black
The option I use for capturing the screen is XSHM
I'm on Fedora 28 x86_64
I tried this with both the obs by dnf and the one by Flathub
Thanks in advance

booting and NVME on older motherboards
by Wolfgang S. Rupprecht
Has anyone gone through the exercise of setting up the boot environment
for booting fedora on a system with an NVME drive where the motherboard
UEFI code doesn't understand NVME disks?
I did a clean install of fedora to the nvme and let anacondia do its
thing. The only non-default item was using real partitions instead of
LVM.
Rebooting after the installation showed me the problem. The
motherboard's UEFI firmware didn't see the NVME disk at all. Clearly I
need to have the early stages of booting grab files from a sata drive.
Is copying the /boot and /boot/efi partitions to the sata drive and
editing /boot/efi/EFI/fedora/grub.cfg to point the /dev/sda instead of
/dev/nvme0n1 all that needs doing? No hidden firmare on the bootable
drive like in the bios days? Is there any other file that had the
drive's pathname embedded?

Excessive dependency
by CLOSE Dave
After upgrading FC27 to FC28 (x86_64), Thunderbird became very
unreliable and useful extensions stopped working. I decided to take the
easy solution and just downgrade Thunderbird back to what I had with
FC27. But for some reason, DNF thinks OpenOffice is dependent on
Thunderbird, and deletes it! It certainly shouldn't be dependent!

user pictures on logon screen
by Tim
Currently I have GDM providing the logon screen, for when I use the
MATE desktop. Is it possible to get it to show the user face pictures,
without having to make user directories world executable?
Surely there's some way for user profile pictures to be put in some
outside directory (not ~/username/), and have them read from there.
