F28 system-config-date?
by Robert Moskowitz
What happened to system-config-date?
I just installed F28 (jumped from F24), and am trying to find how I
control things like what time zone I am in? Always used the gui
system-config-date...
thanks

F28 and Android mounting
by Robert Moskowitz
In the past all I need:
dnf install libmtp gvfs-mtp
libmtp was already installed. Adding gvfs-mtp is not enough, it seems.
Or do I have to restart?

Ethernet RX overruns and dropped packets
by Alex
Hi,
Can someone explain why an interface would start showing dropped
packets and overruns? I have about six machines on a local LAN (the IP
is associated with the br0 device), and all have at least some amount
of dropped packets. This is one example from one of the machines on
the LAN; the LAN interface on the gateway machine is very similar.
eno1: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
inet6 fe80::ec4:7aff:fe7a:73f4 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x20<link>
ether 0c:c4:7a:7a:73:f4 txqueuelen 1000 (Ethernet)
RX packets 2294973231 bytes 1227551884960 (1.1 TiB)
RX errors 0 dropped 159933 overruns 2252 frame 0
TX packets 2707484667 bytes 1948072588485 (1.7 TiB)
TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0
device memory 0xc7200000-c727ffff
I recently rebooted the gateway and noticed it there first. It's a
fedora25 system acting as a gateway with shorewall. The LAN side is a
1Gbs ethernet on a gigabit switch. The WAN side is a 10mbit ethernet
link in a colo. I suspect this machine is the cause, as nothing's
changed on the LAN machines for a while, and the dropped packet count
isn't incrementing fast enough to coincide with greater than 1TB of
traffic.
I have IPMI access to the machines on the LAN, so can do testing, but
I don't have IPMI access to the gateway, so can't really do much
without having to drive to the colo first.
What's the typical cause of these errors? I thought it was perhaps the
duplex mode or other link setting, but they all appear to be the same
(1000/full).
There aren't any dropped packets or overruns on the WAN interface on
the gateway, but could some signal or other data from the WAN side be
causing this?
I can run wireshark or something similar, but it's been a while, so if
that's your recommendation, I'd really appreciate it if you could
provide specific traces you'd think were best.
Ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Alex

Chrome does not start on f28 & kernel 4.16.x
by lejeczek
hi guys
I'm on Intel i5-6300U(dell latitude e7470) and my

But if Iboot with kernel from f29, 4.17.x then Chrome works.
Do you experience anything similar?

possibly OT: LibreOffice on Fedora 28: unable to edit table in
document
by Ranjan Maitra
Hi,
I have a .docx document created using some sort of Word. The document has drop-down as well as fill-in parts. I can edit these parts. However, I can not edit the parts which are in the form of a table. When I try to type something in it, I get the following:
Write-protected content can not be changed.
No modifications will be accepted.
The document itself is not write protected. Format -> Sections does not say so. However, most of the Format options are grayed out.
I wonder if anyone has any suggestions?
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

KDE Appearance...
by Eddie O'Connor
Greetings all. I just have a question. I have been using Fedora since
2002....and at NO POINT have I ever installed anything even remotely
related to KDE. Fast forward to today.....(well...Tuesday in all
actuality!) I get the usual notifications that "Updates Are
Available"...through the Gnome notifications atop the screen midship....and
I proceed to authorize them and install them. Now...I'm one of those
uptight people who like to "watch" things as they get installed...and I
started seeing things like:
kf5-kbookmarks
kf5-kded
kemoticons....
and a slew of other "K" related things. Is this something to be expected
from future updates?....and how do I get rid of these?....(I'm a Gnome
"purist"....sue me!...LoL!) any help anyone can give would he greatly
appreciated!
Thanks In Advance

Bluetooth headphones not working
by Javier Perez
Hi.
I do not know what did I update, but now my bluetooth headphones do not
work.
When I go to bluetoothctl and try to connect them directly I get this
message on the journal logs
"bluetoothd[875]: a2dp-sink profile connect failed for 00:18:09:9B:A3:13:

When restart the bluetooth service I can see the following:

And the Rejected send Message keeps repeating.
What can I do?
I saw a message from somene including the instruction to kill the suspend
while idle at pulseaudio, I already did that and still getting the same
problem
Thanks

yum hangs and results in problems (Centos 7)
by Gary Stainburn
Sorry for cross posting folks, but I'm a bit desperate and the Centos mailing
list doesn't seem to like me at the moment.
All of this is on a Centos 7 system, but I'm hoping someone here can help
Questions
1) Any ideas why my yum runs keep hanging, and what I can do to fix it?
2) How do I go about fixing the problems listed above?
3) What do I need to do to get my server back in a safe, consistant state?
Details:
My live mail server was due an update so I ran
yum update
All seemed file so I told it to proceed. HOwever it then hung for over 30
minutes.
I stopped the update and tried again. It complained about problems with the
update, so I tried
yum --skip-broken -y update
which then hung at a different place. After some Googling I tried
yum-complete-transaction
and
package-cleanup --cleandupes
both of which failed. I then using my "Microsoft" head I thought I'd try
rebooting to see if that fixes it. This of course was a big mistake as my
server now crashes on bootup.
I have managed to get it back up and running by selecting a version of the
kernel that is 3 versions old.
I have now tried
yum history
yum history remove 115 (which failed)
package-cleanup --cleandupes (which failed)
yum-complete-transaction (which failed)
yum-complete-transaction --cleanup-only (which worked)
followed by
[root@ollie2 /]# package-cleanup --problems

Seahorse doe not show GnuPG keys in F28.
by Dirk Gottschalk
Hello,
I upgraded to F28 from F27 in 2nd May.
Now I wanted to manage my GnuPG keys with seahorse, GPG isn't shown at
all. With F27, seahorse had no trouble to show my keys. My
configuration has not changed after the last time I used seahorse in
F27.
Any hint which Problem could be in the way?
Regards,
Dirk
