What do you open .mobi files with??
by Beartooth
Something on sourceforge has been recommended to me, but I try to
stick to things that dnf can install. Surely there must be some Fedora-
native ebook reader!

F30 Lenovo x140e - no wifi
by Robert Moskowitz
I have been using ethernet up to now. I went to enable the wifi, to see
no wifi listed.
It has been too long since I have had to do this troubleshooting. Can
some point me to what I need to look at to find what the Fedora thinks
is the wifi?
thanks

Is This Windows?.....
by Eddie G. O'Connor Jr.
k....I'm just gonna ask this:
Why is it now that when I get notifications for updates I'm being
prompted to "restart & Install"?......
W T H!????
Is this WINDOWS!?.......I have enjoyed the fact that I could update my
system and use my computer until I was ready to shutdown / restart at my
leisure. Now?....there's a funky button up top of the Software Updates
(after its found packages to update) that says "Restart &
Install"?......is there ANY way possible to TURN THIS CRAP OFF!!?? Is
there some config file I can alter that will make this GO AWAY!? (I know
I'm acting like a lunatic, but I was in the IT field since the Windows
NT 4.0 days...and after finding Linux?...I have enjoyed NOT having to
restart after updates.) Please Fedora Admins.....Fedora Magical
Unicorns......Fedora High Council Wizards....PLEASE find a way to make
this just GO AWAY!?....

Evolution and winmail.dat tnef support
by ogio.spam
Hi all,
I'm receiving emails from a lot of customers that use Microsoft
client/server.
Sometime I receive the emails with winmail.dat attached.
Evolution is unable to display it correctly.
If I use ktnef to open the attachement I have other problems.
Some of the problems found on ktnef are solved with ytnef.
I had look at google solutions and I found that evolution can be
compiled with tnef plugin enabled, but it seems Fedora don't do it.
Can I understand why, and if there is a simple way to obtain tnef
support working on the box with Evolution?
I'm using Fedora 31 with Evolution 3.34.2

What is better a 2nd drive for Raid 1 or a backup one?
by Javier Perez
Hi
I have my /home partition on a 2TB HDD drive about half full. Should be
doing regular backups but not in the habit.
What is better?
A. Purchase a second 2TB to create a Raid1 mirror or
B. Purchase a second 4TB drive for backup purposes.
If case B, should I get a USB3.0 adapter or similar so that I could just
plug the HDD, let it do the backup and unplug and store it? Or is it better
to install it on another networked pc and do it through the network?
Is there a better, easier, less troublesome option to keep the data safe
that does not involve the cloud?
This is a home network
Thanks

help for an install
by François Patte
Bonjour,
I want to install fedora in dual boot with windows 10 on a dell laptop
(latitude 3500) on which windows is preinstalled.
I firstly boot on an usb stick with Gparted in order to resize the
partitions but Gparted doesn't "see" the SSD...
I disabled the secure boot, but nothing has changed, Gparted sees only
its own partition and nothing else.
I have the last version of Gparted ( 1.0.0-5).
Could anybody help me? I don't know anything of windows which I never
used...

This APPARENTLY solves the defaultuser0 problem. YMMV
I found this from a google search.
When you get that message, try restarting a few times to see if you will
let you setup a proper account.
If not, do the following at the sign in screen.
Hold down the shift key on your keyboard while clicking the Power button
on the screen.
Continue to hold down the shift key while clicking Restart.
Continue to hold down the shift key until the Advanced Recovery Options
menu appears.
Click Troubleshoot
Click Reset this PC
Click Remove Everything (I'd be careful at this step)
Fully clean the drive (Same here)
Click Reset
Once you get into your machine again, you an un-encrypt the disk by
turning off bitlocker, then you can resize.

24 hour time again -
by Bob Goodwin
On a new fedora 31 installed this week and updated i am unable to get
Thunderbird-68.3.1 to display a message list using 24 hour time.
The Date and Time Regional setting can not be changed from US English
to und as expected. I've tried downgrading Thunderbird, and rebooted the
system, nothing has helped.
This computer, with the same settings, displays the time in 24 hour format.
I haven't been able to work this out so perhaps someone has a suggestion ...

M4P files -
by Bob Goodwin
How can I change an M4P audio file to something that will play on a
Linux computer if it can be done?
I see there are Windows programs for this and wonder if Fedora already
has something I can use to do the job?
