bootable live system ??
by bruce
Hi.
Looking at a process for digitalocean to repartition a VM. The docs I'm
looking at discuss the process for debian.
Anyone have steps/docs for doing this with centos/fedora?
In particular, the docs I'm looking at require the
grml-rescueboot, and the grml.iso which in the site/url are debian related.
Are there similar centos/fed items??
The url I'm looking at:
https://www.ismay.ca/2015/10/repartition-a-debian-digital-ocean-droplet/
thanks for any help!
package, then download the grml iso to /boot/grml/ with wget:

/usr/ permissions ??
by David
I logged in as root just for the fun of it
to mess around with my permission settings in
the /usr/ directory
not having any idea what the heck I was doing.
I am the only user of the computer ( so I am the admin ).
But now, I get a sudo error message when logged in
the normal way as admin or sole user.
* sudo: /usr/bin/sudo must be owned by uid 0 and have the setuid bit
set*
What do I need to do to fix that ?

problem setting the PATH variable.
by Angelo Moreschini
hi
I have a strange problem ...
On my computer "maven" (an IDE for developent in java language) is
installed in the directory: "/ opt / netbeans / java / maven / bin / mvn".
And I can run it (maven) by giving its full path from the command line.
I wanted to modify the PATH variable to use the simple name of the program
"mvn".
I did it and actually I get this output for the command :
-------
angelo_dev @ pluto: echo $ PATH:
/ Usr / share / Modules / bin: / usr / local / bin: / usr / local / sbin: /
usr / bin: / usr / sbin: / opt / netbeans / java / maven / bin / mvn.
-------
However when I use of the mvn command (without specifying its complete
value) it does not work,
I get this output;
-------
angelo_dev @ pluto: ~ $ mvn
bash: mvn: command not found ...
Install package 'maven' to provide command 'mvn'? [N / y]
--------
I cannot understand...
Can anyone help me understand this problem
Thanks Angelo.

OT: delaying postfix until/unless VPN is up/connected
by Ranjan Maitra
Dear friends,
I am using postfix to deliver my work mail from a remote location. This works fine when I am on VPN (the postfix traffic goes through VPN then). However, it gets identified as spam when VPN is not up. Since most people do not routinely check their spam folders especially when the e-mail is not expected from a recipient, this presents a problem.
So, I am wondering if I could please set up my services for postfix to be delayed unless/until VPN is up and running. If so, how do I go about doing this?
I am running a fully updated F31 but this is likely really a OT question.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

Xfce Rawhide related
by David
This is a personal usage report.
This is my first post here, although I have been regularly posting
on the test listserve for about a month.
Mr. Ed Greshko and others on that list recommended I post my
rants here.
I use Rawhide in the real world on hardware as my only operating
system. My motto is, "Live in Rawhide, Live on the Edge."
For the past month, Xfce has been my only weapon of choice, and
I just last night learned how to install the whisker menu.
I own a one-person business, driving a car about 300 miles per
day in awful congested city traffic delivering documents. (
Until about 6 days ago, as I have been unemployed due to the
hysteria or concern of the COVID-19 paranoia ).
I use my computer only for household things, like surfing the web,
sending email, watching YouTube.
My computer is a ASUS mini-ITX about 5 years old with Intel i5-3470
and 16 GB of DDR3 at around 1,000 MHz. I should have a slightly
better computer in a month or so.
Anyways, I update my Rawhide install everyday. My non-Xfce software
is currently all flatpaks.
I did my install with an iso on the Fedora Nightly Compose Finder page, back
around January 24th, ( I think ). And it has performed well, ever
since.
I do have an issue with wi-fi due to my Broadcom on my motherboard. I just
have not had an opportunity to look into it, as I have a nice ethernet
connection
at around 100 Mbps.
There was no update today, except to my flatpaks. Normally there is a
large update
on almost a weekly basis, but that might be postponed due to the displaced
volunteers,
and Fedorans who normally do all that dedicated work.
I live near Arcola, Texas USA. I have 3 years of Linux experience, but
only at the novice
level doing household average stuff, like play Gnome games.
Here is a screenshot showing my custom background, the whisker icon, and a
terminal
window with some stats:

Thank you, and good day.
