Plasma System Settings Online Accounts Appears not to Work
by Stephen Morris
Hi,
I am running F33 inside a Vmware Player 16 vm and using Plasma as
my desktop. When I go into system settings -> Online Accounts it
displays no accounts are added yet in the middle of the page with a "+
Add New Account" button underneath it. There is also the same button in
the bottom right hand corner. If I click on either button the page title
changes to Accounts > Add New Account and displays a blank page and
there is no text or buttons anywhere. Am I doing something wrong?
regards,
Steve

just an observation
by David
I was skimming thru various Linux forums. And it looks like most of the
distros that offer Gnome are going to wait until October or November, to
ship Gnome 40.
This gives Fedora a very unique opportunity to either shine above the rest,
or look like a premature adolescent.
I would say, ship a new version of 33 in April with all the 33 stuff
updated.
Then later, ship several 34 Betas. Do not ship a formal 34 until the
RC1,2,3 has been in the wild for two or three months.
This is a chance to win over some of the critics of Fedora.
Don't shoot the messenger. LOL!

How do I turn off automatic updates on my Fedora Workstation 33
Linux?
by Turritopsis Dohrnii Teo En Ming
Subject: How do I turn off automatic updates on my Fedora Workstation 33
Linux?
Good day from Singapore,
I have 64-bit Fedora Workstation 33 Linux installed on my refurbished HP
Elitebook 840 G1 laptop. Every time I shutdown my laptop, automatic
updates will run. It's been taking a long time to shutdown my laptop due
to the automatic updates.
Can I turn off automatic updates? I want to speed up the time taken to
shutdown my laptop. Please give me the link to the guide.
Thank you very much for your kind assistance.

Unable to transfer files via Bluetooth
by Sreyan Chakravarty
Hi,
I am unable to transfer files via bluetooth from my laptop to my phone.
I keep getting "Connection Error" after the pairing process. The
pairing process works fine.
I have tried on my Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro and Samsung Galaxy A31. Both
give the same result.
I have no idea what diagnostic tools are available to gather more information.
I believe this is a Fedora/Linux specific issue since when I had
Windows 10 installed the bluetooth use to work just fine.
Any ideas ?

sudo (with sssd) command duration 50ms -> 400ms performance
degradation
by Judd Gaddie
Hi, We have noticed a performance regression on some of our boxes when we upgraded from Ubuntu 18.04 (sssd 1.16.1-1ubuntu1.7) (sudo 1.8.21p2) -> Ubuntu 20.04 (sssd 2.2.3-3ubuntu0.1) (sudo 1.8.31) (however it was not universal, some Ubuntu 20.04 boxes are fine) joined to a FreeIPA domain.
We have noticed the following line takes a long when turned on sudo debug logging (not sure if this is red hearing) sudo_pam_approval @ ../../../plugins/sudoers/auth/pam.c:330
Any idea what may cause this, or something to try would be much appreciated?

Some of these messages are incomprehensible without the long-
established practice of quoting context. Remember that most of us
aren't using the web interface for this list and that HyperKitty
(mistakenly in my view) does not quote by default.

How to Make Fedora 33 portable usb
by Anil Felipe Duggirala
Hello.
Ive tried searching for a clear answer to this without avail.
How would I go about creating a usb bootable (portable) installation of Fedora?
I am aware of the Live Fedora 33 Workstation images. But, for example, when boothing from that, your settings (program setting) are not saved.
How can I have a Fedora usb that I can use on different pcs? Where I have additional software installed? And settings? And maybe even a permanent /home storage space?
Thank you.

[F31] Cannot boot from time to time due to systemd-cryptsetup
by Frédéric
Hi,
From time to time, the system stops in the boot process. Today, I had
to boot 4 times to get it work. The first 3 times, it failed the same
way:
- GRUB shows, I choose the first kernel as usual (5.8.18)
- the boot process stops before asking for the password of the
encrypted luks partition
- Ctrl+Alt+Del reboots the system
When I look at the logs before SIGINT is sent, it always stops at the
same step, just after this message:
kernel: kauditd_printk_skb: 47 callbacks suppressed
and apparently, it is just before this which I see when I can boot:
systemd-cryptsetup[734]: Set cipher aes, mode xts-plain64, key size
512 bits for device
/dev/disk/by-uuid/4cdb8127-6061-4099-b883-9bbc31670b2f.
systemd[1]: Found device /dev/mapper/luks-4cdb8127-6061-4099-b883-9bbc31670b2f.
systemd[1]: Starting File System Check on
/dev/mapper/luks-4cdb8127-6061-4099-b883-9bbc31670b2f...
so it seems related to the encrypted partition.
My M.2 disk is partitionned like that:
/dev/nvme0n1p1: /boot (ext4)
/dev/nvme0n1p2: /boot/efi (fat16)
/dev/nvme0n1p3: swap
/dev/nvme0n1p4: fedora (lvm2 pv)
the fedora volume group has the following partitions:
/dev/fedora/home /home (luks2)
/dev/fedora/root: / (ext4)
/def/fedora/softs: /softs (ext4)
The log says that /boot, /boot/efi and /softs are mounted so it seems
that the hard drive is working correctly. What could happen with the
luks partition so that it stops the boot process?
Best regads,
F
