LUKS on shutdown.
by murph nj
I'm having an issue shutting down. Fedora 34, just updated to 35, same
problem. (It was around in 33 as well, I've been putting up with it.) I
know that there is another list for beta versions, but this issue was there
in the current version as well.
Somewhere around 1 out of every 10 shutdowns, the system goes down to
"[ OK ] Reached target System Shutdown", but then,
"[ *** ] a stop job is running for Cryptography setup for luks-<cycle
through LUKS volumes>"
It typically goes for about 1/2 hour if I don't get fed up, and hold the
power button down.
I just saw after that 1/2 hour:
[Time] Timed out starting System Reboot
Forcibly Rebooting: job timed out.
audit: type=1334.........
I still had to power it off. On reboot, it seems OK.
I haven't found anything interesting in /var/log/messages regarding it.
Any suggestions to further troubleshooting?
Thanks,

What is this lock screen
by ToddAndMargo
Hi All,
Fedora 34
mate-desktop-1.26.0-1.fc34.x86_64
When I am in Mate, after a period of activity, I
get this annoying lock screen (if that is what it
is called).
https://ibb.co/5G7Qt73
I have set the screen saver to no lock and turned
power and hibernate off.
How do I rid myself of this annoyance?
Many thanks,
-T

Run xsane without root password prompt?
by Tom Horsley
I have a network scanner. Every time I start xsane, it thinks a bit,
then prompts me for the root password, then finally the xsane
windows come up and I can scan.
Is there any magic I can do to avoid that root prompt? I can't
imagine I have to be root to connect to a network device.

I'm sorry, but your emails are really not making sense. I suggest
finding a support group in your native language, which appears to be
French. I believe someone already suggested one. Otherwise, maybe try
directly using Google Translate. I appreciate your attempt to write in
English, but I'm pretty sure at this point, Google Translate would
produce a more understandable result. Maybe even write your question in
French with the translated result as well.

powertop broken?
by Adrian Sevcenco
Hi! I'm trying to create a report with powertop but i get a segmentation fault:
[Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled]

which is strange and i can understand at all ..
Of course this is the lastest powertop:

powertop-debugsource-2.14-1.fc34.x86_64
powertop-debuginfo-2.14-1.fc34.x86_64
Does anyone have any idea on this?
Thank you!

Idiot! Give me one good reason why everybody on this list shouldn't
killfile you. And yes, I'm sending it to the list so that everybody
else can respond.

Your comment (above) is inserted into the middle of my reply with
nothing to indicate who wrote what. Please check the "quoting" settings

I'm not asking you to encrypt your mail, I'm asking you to stop.
