pulseaudio -> pipewire
by Frank Elsner
Hi,
I'm a podcaster and therefore I need a functional audio environment.
Currently I use pulseaudio on a Fedora 33 system. Works for me.
Will this also work if I upgrade to Fedora 34?
Is there an equivalent to pavucontrol? I need it to adjust
the level of my external audio interface?
I'm heavy interested in any experience - especially pitfalls - before
I start the upgrade.
Thanks in advance,
Frank

Segmentation Fault using gdal with Python 3
by Clifford Snow
I'm getting a segmentation fault (core dump) when using the osgeo gdal
modules. Otherwise no problem.
I'm looking for some suggestions on how to troubleshoot this. I can't even
seem to find the core dump file.
For example, using the python interpreter with a simple program as:
>>> from osgeo import gdal
>>> quit()
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
I've reinstalled python3-gdal and gdal-python-tools with no help.
Thanks in advance,
Clifford

GDM failed to start
by Sampson Fung
The screen is hang on a text mode, all black with only the cursor blinking at the upper left corner.
Ctrl+Alt+F3 switching works, and sway can be started without issues.
Yesterday still worked normally, but after some update, it shows this problem.
Silverblue Rawhide.20210511.n.2 is working (double checked with fresh install)
Silverblue 34.20210516.0 failed

Any low level key stroke filter out there
by Tom Horsley
Google chrome Ctrl-V pastes utter nonsense, expanding URLs into the URL link
in the new commenting system on the Washington Post. I can't stand
it any longer. Is there a low level keystroke filter available for
fedora that would let me detect Ctrl-V and change it to Ctrl-Shift-V
before any app can see it and do something silly? (Naturally in the
0.000001% possibility I actually want the Ctrl-V default, I'd
want to swap the meaning of the two keystrokes).

How to set the (virtual) BIOS time before a VM boots
by Fulko Hew
I'm trying to do some Y2038 testing, using VMs.
So what I'd like to do is have the time pre-set to after the Y2038 time
and then boot an OS/VM (to have the 'BIOS' provide the post 2038 time).
(In this case I'm trying to test an application under Win XP.)
[Please, no emails about upgrading the OS.
Customer wants... customer gets...]
How does Fedora's Virtual Machine manager and QEMU support this?
Or can it?
TIA
Fulko
