Xorg crashes in KVM
by Eyal Lebedinsky
Recently I started having Xorg crash while using firefox.
This is f34 in a libvirt kvm, host (also f34) uses internal i915 video.
Kernel is 5.12.14-300.fc34.x86_64 but saw this with earlier 5.12.12/13 kernels.
an example crash:

IRDA to Ethernet gateway for PalmOS (ppp?)
by Fernando Cassia
Does anyone know if IRDA (for networking) is still supported by Linux?
I need to build a gateway from IrDA to ethernet to make legacy palmos
devices talk to the internet.
I vaguely remember IrDA having different protocols, and palmOS not
supporting all of them. Maybe they did serial to ppp, like a dial-up modem?
And there were devices that were palm compatible, like this one...
https://amzn.to/3wAAc0C
Sadly these are long gone and not available even used.
So, I don't know where to start. Would Fedora Linux and the cheap USB-IrDA
adapters work?
If this list is not the right place, is there a forum with palmOS savvy
people where I should ask? Thanks in advance for any pointers...

Modem WiFi
by Patrick Dupre
Hello,
I have a PC working under fedora 32 (I wanted to update it), which
cannot connect to the Box because a password is required (a lock is shown).
While no password is required to connect to this modem.
Actually, a printer is connected to the modem (without PW).
The PC indicates that the connection is excellent.
There are no other connections. it can also connect to a network which
does not require PW.
Where maybe the issue?
Thanks

F33 Xorg XFCE4 ALSA => F34 Wayland Gnome PipeWire - Issue #1
by Philip Rhoades
People,
There doesn't seem to be a dedicated Fedora Gnome list so I am posting
here - I have looked around a lot for info before posting.
In my traditional XFCE4 environment, on the top task bar I have had
direct access to everything I need to get to: workspaces and stacked
programs of each app eg: Chrome, FF, Brave, X-Terminals, Kitty
Terminals etc. Now in Gnome, not only do I not have direct access to
the workspace I want (I usually have four - each used for different
work), but the task bar is only showing ONE stacked app instead of ALL
the apps in the current workspace - how do I customise this task bar to
look like my usual work environment? I want to persist with this
environment but so far the update / changeover has resulted in a severe
downgrade in my productivity . .
Thanks,
Phil.

F34: volumeicon error
by Ranjan Maitra
Hi,
I use volumeicon to control my volume from my system tray on openbox.
However, over the past 2 weeks, since some Fedora 34 nightly update, I have been having the following:
$ volumeicon
snd_mixer_handle_events: No such file or directory
How do I get around this problem? I looked around but was unable to get some advice.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

Python libraries problem with F34
by Frederic Muller
Hi!
Some of my Python code which was running without any issue fails
miserably with F34. Python is now version 3.9, I found some building
bugs for 1 of the libraries which has been fixed earlier this year.
Namely I have issue with urllib3 and pexpect. Where should I ask about
it? I feel this list is not really about Python issues, and that code
was working fine with Python 3.8.
Thank you.

What I'm getting at is that its fine to use python without bothering to setup venv.
There are problems that venv is a wonderful solution to.
I do not bother with venv unless its needed.

Can you provide the complete command line and output?
Warnings are just that warnings. If that is all you are seeing its not a sign that things
are broken. The warning is probably a hint that things may break in the future.
