Keyboard shortcuts in VMware under Wayland
by Matti Pulkkinen
Hello,
When I try to run a VMware virtual desktop, my keyboard shortcuts (such as alt+tab) are all intercepted by the host OS (Fedora 34 Workstation) rather than going to the virtual desktop. This only happens if I'm using Wayland on the host OS, and goes away if I switch to Xorg. Looking around on the web, I saw a hint that if I go to Gnome's Settings and look for VMware under Applications, there would be a switch I can flip to enable VMware to capture the keyboard shortcuts. There wasn't one. I also found a hint that adding the window's WM_CLASS to org.gnome.mutter.wayland xwayland-grab-access-rules might help, but it did not. Any other ideas on how I could get this to work? It's extremely inconvenient to use a virtual desktop when all my shortcuts go to the host. I'm very close to being able to use Wayland for everything, and it'd be nice to be able to knock down the last few obstacles before Gnome decides to deprecate running under Xorg.

Disable touchpad tap to click in XFCE
by Sam Varshavchik
This almost feels like a ritual that I go through every 3-4 years: figure
out how to disable the laptop's obnoxious touchpad from registering phantom
tap clicks.
This time around Google claims XFCE's "Mouse and Touchpad" settings has a
checkbox for that. Google also gives instructions for using synclient, which
appears to be obsolete.
So, what's the right procedure for this (this year)?

Firefox so bad on a remote with 'ssh -YC'
by lejeczek
Hi guys.
Those of you guys who happen to have remote f34 systems - do
your remote Firefox via 'ssh -YC' like mine is 'unusable'?
Mine hangs almost immediately, has only brief moments when
becomes responsive and the reason why I paint specifically
Firefox as the villain is such, that Chrome and Chrome based
web browsers, eg. Brave, Chromium, Vivaldi, all work okey.
thanks, L.

Virt-manager issues.
by Erik P. Olsen
Hi,
1. I am getting the following error message: "Error launching libguestfs appliance:" and
there is nothing after the colon. What is it and does it matter?
2. I can't save the domain, It's apparently trying to save it into
/var/lib/libvirt/qemu/save/win10.save but there is no space left on device.
Is there a way to specify a path to a device with enough space?

'encoding' issue
by Frederic Muller
Hi!
I generate a text file using wpscan and > (on a different Linux OS). I
copied the file on my Fedora desktop and here is the issue:
cat file.txt displays well
vi file.txt (or meld or..) shows me unicode values at places such as:
^[[32m[+]^[[0m URL: xxx instead of [+] URL: xxxx
The file is UTF-8 encoded and the system (both systems are running
linux) also use UTF-8 system wide.
The same thing didn't happen one month ago, so I guess some updates
broke something, either on the system or in wpscan. Google didn't help
me at all.
So any idea how I could "convert" back that file to show nice
characters, and eventually do you have any idea what could be wrong on
the other system (deb based)?
Thank you.

SSH with ecdsa key pair asks for password since yesterday on fully
updated F34 setup (both sides)
by Ranjan Maitra
Dear friends,
I am not sure what has changed and it is possible that some configuration has inadvertently changed that has messed things up but over the past 3 hours, I have been having this problem in that my key is no longer recognized. So, here is what I get when I try to log in to remote.server as user fedusr (other things are below):

fedusr(a)remote.server's password:
I have the following in my localhost .ssh:
-rw-r--r-- 1 fedusr fedusr 196 Nov 3 2015 id_ecdsa.pub
-rw------- 1 fedusr fedusr 314 Nov 3 2015 id_ecdsa
The authorized_keys matches the id_ecdsa.pub in the local file.
However, I can no longer do as password-less connection, it worked fine till about 30 hours ago. What could be wrong? Both machines are automatically updated, the one at localhost at 21:00 hours CT (US) and the other (remote server) at 03:00 CT (US) everyday. But the connection did work fine even after the two machines got updated for a while, till around 12:00 yesterday (I can not pinpoint the exact time it last worked).
Any suggestions as to what I should be looking at? Oh, yes, the passphrases are old, but I tried replacing with new ones and there was no difference to this problem and the insistence on the password.
Please feel free to let me know what additional information might be helpful.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Ranjan

Configuring drawing tablet
by Paul Smith
Dear All,
I have recently bought a drawing tablet, which does not come with any
Linux device driver.
It works perfectly even without any device driver. However, I would
like to associate a script to each of the tablet buttons. I guess that
whenever a button is pressed, a signal of such an occurrence can be
captured by Fedora, but I do not know how.
Could someone please help me?
Thanks in advance,
Paul
